First of all good video and nice job on the projects you showed. I wanted to add another place to get the plywood for those that don’t have a local big box store. I buy all mine at Ocooch Hardwoods online. Very reasonably priced. Plus you can get different varieties of plywood such as walnut and cherry. I’ve used them for several years and always had top notch service from them.
Hey Tyler. Up here in the great white north we are only able to get spruce/pine plywood in big box stores. We have to go to a lumber yard and buy Baltic birch for scrolling or risk getting a scroll saw project partly finished and a small piece goes flying across the shop. Most of the world is metric which explains the thickness of plywood although most of the patterns are from US artists.
This more of a question than a comment. I bought a WEB 3922 because is was said that it took pinless blades , but I could not get the pinless blades installed , called the company. I explain the problem and was told to take it back to Lowes, which I did. I am almost 83 years old , have been watching your videos for a long time . I want a scroll saw that will take pinless blades right out of the box . Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hey, Mpst Scroll Saws are pinless now, I love my Rikon Saw and I love my Delta saw, alot of people use the Dewalt saw, I also know that Harbor Freight put out a new Pinless Scroll Saw
great work i started scrollsawing year ago brought cheap one with single speed upgraded it to multi speed round dial my question is how do i know if im using the right speed for the job
Man thanks for your videos. I just started in the world of scroll sawing and I believe I am going to really like it. How do you keep the back of the plywood from blowing out when drill the pilot hole for the blade? I have tried clamping another board on the back of the plywood and that hasn’t worked. Then I purchased a new 1/16 inch drill bit and that did not help either. The plywood I am using is Sandeply from Home Depot. Do you think that might be the problem. Thanks and keep up the good work doing these videos.
Hey, sorry for the late reply, it may be the material you are using, the material I mainly scroll with is revolution ply from Lowes, as far as blowout is concerned, I use a backer board when drilling pilot holes to prevent the blowout, also drill the pilot holes slowly , hope this helps and I'm happy to assist
@@ArtisanPirate Thanks for getting back with me. I do use a backer board when drilling the holes. I think your right it might be the plywood I am using and I might be trying to drill to fast. I seen the revolution ply from Lowe’s. I am going to try to pick some up this weekend and give it a try. Thanks for your help and I really enjoy your videos.
Wicked awesome, as usual. If you said in the video I missed it. I'm getting ready for work while watching this. On the lighthouse, the train, and the hotrod. Did you paint a piece of similar material and glue together? Thanks in advance
Awesome as usual… Did you mount a black backer and an additional backer on a few of the projects???? Thanks. Love watching your videos and always giving credit to the illustrious Steve Good.. happy scrolling

Wow. Thats cool, As I said in the video, this is as close to the baltic birch plywood that I have ever used
Thanks AP. Great and informative as usual 👍
Thank You!
Big like!👍👍👍👍👍✅💪Felicitări!
Different looking plywood to what I get here in Australia. Good video mate!
Thank You!
Great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. I still believe baltic birch is the best to use. Just my opinion.
In a way I agree but, if you are just starting out and wanna try some projects with cheaper material. Then this is the way to go

Speed depends on material and experience, for example, on 90% of my projects I have my variable speed set between 5-6

Yes, the backer boards are all the same material just painted black
