Yes, she's actually an alto, which doesn't mean she can't also train her higher range.

This was amazing! You are a wonderful teacher! I recognize myself in the student in many ways and you helped me work through some things. I get scared of my own volume and get embarrassed that people will hear me, so I've started wearing noise canceling headphones when I do my exercises, especially the mix voice and belting ones. What a difference! I'm no longer scared to go for it and I can't hear every nuance so self-doubt doesn't kick in every 3 seconds! It helps me feel the placement more rather focusing on how I sound. Thank you for a wonderful video. Subscribing now ❤

Wow I never thought of noise canceling headphones
Are they better than just using ear plugs?

She is truly wasting so much air. I think she was just nervous. Freya, you are as always a top notch teacher!

One exercice my teacher make me do sometimes is to think up when going low and think low when going higher. Also moving my hand up while going lower register and hand down while going higher note. Also another exercise is to move my hand from the chest to the horizon through the all phrase. The point is to keep the larynx in good position in the first exercise and the second is to focus on something else and maintain the phrasing in one direction.

Singing out the back of your head like your voice is going both behind you and in front of you for great breath support and control, works better than “holding your breath”

Such a helpful video, Freya! I participated in an adult vocal class for several years that recently ended (my professor being an amazing NATS member) and we had so much growth each semester - largely in part from watching and getting to also share our observations in addition to the time our teacher would stop and do these individual tweaks with us for all of us to observe and also share. Love her voice too!! 👏🏻👍🏻

This is sooooo precious as your student has a similar level of know how as i have. Thank you very much for sharing (and for exposing). ❤

Love this teaching style, and it's a sooo good addition to the lessons I take, having my recordings of them and watching you.
About these tiny yodels the student does at the end of her phrases.... I love them, if done like a spice, but if done constantly, I leave 'cos it needles. Anyway, I'd like to be able to do them...

I do this exercise easily between C2 and C4. My quality changes and i easily go to C5. I thank my voice coach. I have to think about the sound I want to produce to have my best quality. I then automatically do what I should. I can easily go lower and higher than your student.
