      I was gonna say 9 wins but honestly- if our spring game is any indication we could win the B12. Defense looks so good- and it's just the start. Offense needs some help - lot of drops from WRs. I think starting O line players were gone. RBs weren't too impressive.. But its always hardest for the offense in spring games so I think if we marginally improve from last year on offense- then we should be in good shape.

    I got to know coach pretty well during his first turn on the Oklahoma staff. One of the most intense people between the lines that you'll ever see. I can still remember him losing his mind on a Butkis award winner screaming NO FALSE STEPS over and over and over! But it would be just about as difficult to find a coach that cares more about his players. He demands perfection but he demands it because that's how the young men grow into the men they will be for the rest of their lives. And that is why he has been so successful and why he will continue to have success.
    The Big 12 better be on notice. That defense will look better than it has since he and Mike ran it together. They'll be physical, they'll be sound on their assignments, and they'll put it all on the line for him. It's been a while but this year the question is whether the offense can do their part.

    I love coach venables attitude and I think he’s going to do great here in Oklahoma. He’s passionate, he’s experienced and he has a great standard for excellence. That’s more than 90% of coaches out there.
    But my god. If I was in the locker room and I heard a 10 page essay every time somebody had a question or was being given a lecture on our standards. It would get old fast. Boil it down man. Give me what you think precisely.
    I imagine it also makes motivational speeches pretty redundant. Everything’s a motivational speech.
    Again. Love the guy. He’s gonna do great things here. I just think he needs to work on his speaking skills.

He's not a bad dude, but I hated seeing OU being soft and could not spend money on supporting a program that only focused on QB play...that's not football. As a Texas fan, I think that Oklahoma is going into period of the equivalent to a rebuild in the NFL. Longhorns went through it and I believe we are finally starting to exit that long process, which took 3 coaching staffs. Teams can only be great over a long period of time for so long, before this process hits everyone's team. Question is, how fast can this Coach steer the ship back in the right direction? Only time will tell, I can't say I wish the Sooners greatness as our arch nemesis, but I do wish their team great health and safety on the field. College Football is is way better when teams like Texas and Oklahoma are running on all cylinders. See you in October, Hook'em!

    Dude his mindset is GOATED I mean he said: "Am I willing to give what it takes to win!" Bruh! I know the team will think last season was not the standard for the Sooners in Norman. I'm calling it now, the Oklahoma Sooners will win 10 games this coming season! The team is not used to how BV thinks because he is not like Riley. Riley wanted good players but BV wants a player who wants to play football and will win! Plus BV has never been a HC and everyone is adapting!! This was a building year. 23-24 will be a 10-2 season!!

  • @carvanok4226
    @carvanok4226 Рік тому +3

    Coach Venables' is correct because football is football, Big XII or the SEC. The primary concern is the offensive and defensive linemen getting off the ball with a ferociousness. Linebacker and backs playing their assignments with intensity and intelligence. Defensive backs and wide receivers having enthusiasm about playing football for the Oklahoma Sooners and loving to do their part on the field. There needs to be an emotional fire in the belly of every player, everyone playing within the scheme, and everyone out there hunting for the national championship. That is football my friends. Hate to say this as a lifetime OU fan but the Sooners will always be average. It has been over 20 years since OU has won a national championship. Coach Venables will be an average head coach at OU. I don't think he will ever bring home a national championship. It would be great if he could prove me wrong though.

    He has never built or ran a program. Good coaching resume as a coordinator and assistant but it’s a complete different role than head coach. This year will tell you a lot about how the venables era at OU will turn out. They got a soft schedule, no excuses.

      You can't make a great souffle with Dollar Store ingredients. Trying to Run a Brent Venables defense with Alex Grinch players. Well you get what you get. Brents defenses usually take a big step year 2 ala Oklahoma and Clemson in the beginning.

    • @houseontherock8345
      @houseontherock8345 Рік тому +1

      @@jett713 well said. Grinch’s defense hardly required any learning. It was basically a high level high school scheme. Enter BV who runs a scheme that’s difficult by NFL standards. That’s coming from former players who went to the NFL. Outside of experiencing the speed of the college game, last years team was maybe a slight step above freshman experience in terms knowledge of how to play defense as a team. Grinch’s scheme was way too simple. It’s another reason why better than average OC’s with decent talent figure Grinch out so easily. I actually like Grinch’s scheme as it’s foundation, but the guy needs to develop it a lot if he wants to be a top DC some day.
