What are your expectations for Oklahoma next season?
They'll score at least 10 points against Texas in another Blow out loss
A better game against Texas and winning the 3 close games we lost last year.
Big 12 championship. Playoffs 🤨🏆
10 and 2
I was gonna say 9 wins but honestly- if our spring game is any indication we could win the B12. Defense looks so good- and it's just the start. Offense needs some help - lot of drops from WRs. I think starting O line players were gone. RBs weren't too impressive.. But its always hardest for the offense in spring games so I think if we marginally improve from last year on offense- then we should be in good shape.
THIS DUDE....he literally makes you look into yourself and want to be better. No matter what you are doing.
👊🏾
Yes he does...we r very fortunate to have him leading the SOONERS!
That's what I like about him
I had a couple coaches who were similar. I frequently reflect on the things they passed onto us.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Texas fan here... really gained a lot of respect for Coach Venables for this interview. Just another man chasing greatness.
👊🏾
I think Texas finally found their coach as well! Hopefully we’ll both move into the SEC and make our mark!
It would be a good addition to the SEC, it’s good when you have two power programs who hate each other having success😉😉
Sooner fan here…thanks for saying so!! There are things that transcend football…not many..lol…but there are a few!!
Since day one, I have been latched onto the Venerables train! This man speaks a lot of truth and I can tell it comes from HIS SOUL! Under his leadership, he is making his players are going to be phenomenal!
I love having this manner as our head coach but when he was hired I questioned his success at OU because it was not only him but it was also Mike stoops and I felt our defense was a little bit above mediocre but what he has done is so far and with his refruiting I think we are on the path of greatness
This coach WILL get this program to where it is accustomed. He has a very explicit vision, he is not wavering from that vision and that is important. I all in on BV
👊🏾
ALL IN!!
Coach venables is sincere he's honest he is highly invested and he cares a hell of a lot about building a Sooners national championship football team. I'm grateful he is the Sooners coach.
As a Clemson alum - we miss him dearly. He was the primary reason we won 2 Nattys. Who would not want him as a leader?
OU fans are blessed to have Coach Venables .
GOODNESS I love our coach! How could you not want to play for him!
I’m a fat squishy 55 year old and I’m ready suit up for Coach V. Dude has me fired up! What intensity and passion. He is going to succeed if he gets the time to put his vision in place.
Venables is the best at explaining the ways and means of a team mindset. He will take OU to the next level..
Wow RJ...great interview, tremendous job you still do and a very rare man & coach BV.....what a blessing
👊🏾
Makes you want to go out and play the game and also makes you feel bad for what you did not appreciate when you were young I pray for that man every day
👊🏾
Amen
Wonderful interview RJ! I’m confident Coach Venables will bring out the best of OUr young men on and off the field.
Frankly, I don't care about the results. I want Venables for coach for life. The results will come. I believe.
yea, creating men to be proud of
I can't listen to what he says any more to answer this question. He speaks too well, so much wisdom. I'm taking his words for myself and just judging the team by its performance. If his ability to coach was just his ability to inspire they'd have to #1 in the country
Clear eyes full heart. Program will be dominant with his mindset and mentality.
Great interview R J, your questions were spot on. BV will turn the tide for sure.
Great interview! I love the way interviewers ask for five questions and Brent Venables provides long answers! Lol
I got to know coach pretty well during his first turn on the Oklahoma staff. One of the most intense people between the lines that you'll ever see. I can still remember him losing his mind on a Butkis award winner screaming NO FALSE STEPS over and over and over! But it would be just about as difficult to find a coach that cares more about his players. He demands perfection but he demands it because that's how the young men grow into the men they will be for the rest of their lives. And that is why he has been so successful and why he will continue to have success.
The Big 12 better be on notice. That defense will look better than it has since he and Mike ran it together. They'll be physical, they'll be sound on their assignments, and they'll put it all on the line for him. It's been a while but this year the question is whether the offense can do their part.
Excellence at its best. Great job on the interview. Something great is cooking!
👊🏾
Coach you are speaking nothing but facts!! I believe in you and the program. Can't wait to see where you take the program. I know the Sooners will be ready to go. Foundation must be built, love that coach! Hope to see some games. Be blessed and stay blessed. Boomer!
Idk how you can listen to this guy and not agree with everything he is saying. Excellence isn't common or easy or it wouldn't be so valuable
After 2022, I was wondering how OU would respond. And with about a month left before next season, I can honestly say I’m scared. I’m scared for anyone who thinks they’re gonna beat this OU team. Bring on the season!Just gotta trust in BV and I for sure do! BOOMER SOONER
Love BV's mentality. Spring team defense looked much improved, Boomer Sooner!
Coach BV goes HARD!
That was Amazing Thanks RJ and Coach V!
Great interview. Ask the right questions. I think BV will become one of our greatest coaches in ou history.he knows what it takes and knows how to get there. He’s done it already
Thanks for the interview
Great job. God Bless You
We miss you coach V # ALLIN
I love coach venables attitude and I think he’s going to do great here in Oklahoma. He’s passionate, he’s experienced and he has a great standard for excellence. That’s more than 90% of coaches out there.
But my god. If I was in the locker room and I heard a 10 page essay every time somebody had a question or was being given a lecture on our standards. It would get old fast. Boil it down man. Give me what you think precisely.
I imagine it also makes motivational speeches pretty redundant. Everything’s a motivational speech.
Again. Love the guy. He’s gonna do great things here. I just think he needs to work on his speaking skills.
I see why he's a great recruiter
I'm so glad BV is our coach. I stopped being a season ticket holder when Lincoln was coach. He's not a bad dude, but I hated seeing OU being soft and could not spend money on supporting a program that only focused on QB play...that's not football. When BV was hired, I immediately became a season ticket holder again. He will get OU back to being a tough-minded team.
We went to the spring game and I felt like the defense looked a lot better than the offense. Just my opinion.
@@bluecollarballers7315 That was my opinion as well.
@@raydillman7142 same here
That will make our offense better as well. We should see an all around improvement.
Don’t care if we win it all…..this is my coach!
Jimmy Johnson used to say football is played in pads and involves hitting. I understand I am going to lose 2 maybe 3 guys in the preseason but you can't practice in shorts and play in pads. Venables just needs to keep doing what he's doing.
As a Texas fan, I think that Oklahoma is going into period of the equivalent to a rebuild in the NFL. Longhorns went through it and I believe we are finally starting to exit that long process, which took 3 coaching staffs. Teams can only be great over a long period of time for so long, before this process hits everyone's team. Question is, how fast can this Coach steer the ship back in the right direction? Only time will tell, I can't say I wish the Sooners greatness as our arch nemesis, but I do wish their team great health and safety on the field. College Football is is way better when teams like Texas and Oklahoma are running on all cylinders. See you in October, Hook'em!
I do believe that Oklahoma is going through a rebuild, and unless you are blind, of course they are! They lost their head coach, that took half their team and recruits. So yes they are going through a rebuild.
I just oh phew is as good as they were in the 90s. LMAO!!!!
Much respect to you
As much as I hate Texas, I want both programs to be successful, it’s a good motivation for both teams, and it makes that game at the Cotton Bowl so much better!!
Football has been just fine with Texas being mediocre and I suspect that mediocrity will continue for UT in accordance to recent history of the past decade. 👍
Dude his mindset is GOATED I mean he said: "Am I willing to give what it takes to win!" Bruh! I know the team will think last season was not the standard for the Sooners in Norman. I'm calling it now, the Oklahoma Sooners will win 10 games this coming season! The team is not used to how BV thinks because he is not like Riley. Riley wanted good players but BV wants a player who wants to play football and will win! Plus BV has never been a HC and everyone is adapting!! This was a building year. 23-24 will be a 10-2 season!!
Coach Venables' is correct because football is football, Big XII or the SEC. The primary concern is the offensive and defensive linemen getting off the ball with a ferociousness. Linebacker and backs playing their assignments with intensity and intelligence. Defensive backs and wide receivers having enthusiasm about playing football for the Oklahoma Sooners and loving to do their part on the field. There needs to be an emotional fire in the belly of every player, everyone playing within the scheme, and everyone out there hunting for the national championship. That is football my friends. BOOMER SOONER TIL I DIE
25:20 He talkin talkin now!!!!
Don’t be surprised with the turnaround. OU is going up
Brent Venables is a winner !!!!!!!
Best video since before the FOX deal.. miss these days..
Fully motivated for life...
He'll keep his job as long as this year's not a repeat from the last, hope they win it all!
Great interview
👊🏾
Coach V will feed the monster!! To the Texas talking trash, spew it while you can...
YOUR INTERVIEWS AS ALWAYS ARE Exceptional plus you are not afraid to ask touch Questions!!! BV. Trying to get young men to think what do they really want for themselves and can they really define themselves may be away from football🤔🤔🤔
He says all the right things, W's gotta start coming though.
Venables comes across as a good guy.
RJ, you've picked up your clothing game. My hats off to you. Dress for the job you want and not the job you have.
Awesome interview…keep on keeping on!!
👊🏾
Always good. Ty
I picked up covid at that spring game and spent 100$ in gas to get from Claremore to Norman and back to Claremore thanks Brandon!
OU spring game this past week was indeed scary good! Texas and the rest of the college football world! Jackson Arnold is way, way better than Arch Manning from what I saw and probably Sooners and all else. Get ready Texas with all your bought players😂😂😂 Defensive OU is talented and scary!!!!! Boomer Sooner 🤙
Great work RJ !!
Coach BV makes me want to run through a wall.
RJ the 🐐
Building men, and wins will come with it.
KEEP THE FAITH ....B.V....❤ YOU MAN... 🔥 IN THE BELLY...11-1 ....12-0.... I'M ALL IN!!!
“ Yesterday’s are dead, tomorrows are unborn “
RJ... you should do this with other coaches from FBS. I want to see you dig into the psyche of college coaches. Plz do Steve Sarkisian
👊🏾
I BELIEVE
👊🏾
Soon as I saw 32 mins I thought oh RJ is only going to get like 3 questions in lol
Love you Coach V Boomer Sooner
You hit it right on the head BV... Constant baby steps all the way up never stop climbing otherwise you begin to slide and then fall down into the downward spiral of abyss
Hey coach Venables, is doing this the right way if you have ever played football then you know the only way to get better is work and then work even harder, yes you should enjoy it, but what better way to enjoy it then to win at it, and there's only one way to do that you have to work hard at what ever you do, we had outstanding defensive teams when he was here before, and if you missed what he done at Clemson, defensively then you must be blind he built a great defensive team there , which everyone in football knows defense wins championships, and he's doing it the right way and it will payoff. BOOMER SOONER!!!
College foot should be on notice, BOOMER.
❤❤❤
The wildcat as a last ditch effort is not what I want to see. Especially against Texas
How do you keep your kids in your program?
No matter what you hear, you need Jesus Christ, to make sure you make your full potential.
You have ONE chance in life!
JIMMY JOHNSON KNEW HOW TO COACH, HOW TO RECRUIT
BV REMINDS ME OF JJ, BV KNOWS HOW TO COACH LOVES IS PLAYERS AND WANTS TO WIN
BE A LEADER NOT A FOLLOWER.
This man makes me want to run through a wall
Oklahoma 2023
9-3 or 10-2
Maybe 11-1
I just hope BV will watch and semi coach the defense. I don't feel like he was that much in control of the defense last season.
Ok Texas much respect WE gotta hold it down when WE leave. Dont wanna turn out like our old friends COLORADO AND NEBRASKA. But first things first we aint forgot about last year see you in october.
Boomer!!!
Give him a few years. Mothers and Fathers will be knocking OU doors down to offer up their kids. Just for the fact he will set them up to be successful in life not just football.
49-0. That's all you need to know! That's about all...
Buy in, accountability, mentality, focus, selflessness, mindset, culture, etc…. Sounds like one of these modern day pseudo preachers with a lot of buzz words. Glad he didn’t say anything about being in a storm or being in a season. BUT I’m happy he’s the coach… Boomer
Better get your defense ready. I don't want to see what I've been seeing for the last few seasons I wanna see a damn good defense
You watch the spring game? Defense looked really good. I understand it's just a spring game but they looked physical.
👍🏿
Sometimes a simple yes or no will do. He's a bit windy! LOL
Boomer!☝🏈🏆💪💯❤🤩😎🏈
Stoops brought ou from the brink of collapse. I don't believe Brent will be anywhere close to Bob's record.
Much respect to bobber stoops. I hated losing to ou but that man was a great coach. 👍
Wondering who the voice on the offense will be this yr now Willis is gone
I'm kind of hoping Stogner will pick up where he left off.
BOOMER SOONER!
You came so close to beating FSU
I wonder if for the state felt like they really won the ballgame? I know they want on the scoreboard and that's where it counts but FSU was ranked about twice as high as the Sooners if I recall right. Could have easily gone the Sooners way.
Good habits you pay the price and bad habits you pay the cost. Sheesh
Hate to say this as a lifetime OU fan but the Sooners will always be average. It has been over 20 years since OU has won a national championship. Coach Venables will be an average head coach at OU. I don't think he will ever bring home a national championship. It would be great if he could prove me wrong though.
He has never built or ran a program. Good coaching resume as a coordinator and assistant but it’s a complete different role than head coach. This year will tell you a lot about how the venables era at OU will turn out. They got a soft schedule, no excuses.
True but he was at Clemson for all of their success. He has developed some defensive freaks. He has the experience to be a head coach but every coach needs the talent.
At least someone understands. The schedule was soft last year also. BV may not be the fit for HC at OU, who knows he may strive at a different program.
You can't make a great souffle with Dollar Store ingredients. Trying to Run a Brent Venables defense with Alex Grinch players. Well you get what you get. Brents defenses usually take a big step year 2 ala Oklahoma and Clemson in the beginning.
@@jett713 well said. Grinch’s defense hardly required any learning. It was basically a high level high school scheme. Enter BV who runs a scheme that’s difficult by NFL standards. That’s coming from former players who went to the NFL. Outside of experiencing the speed of the college game, last years team was maybe a slight step above freshman experience in terms knowledge of how to play defense as a team. Grinch’s scheme was way too simple. It’s another reason why better than average OC’s with decent talent figure Grinch out so easily. I actually like Grinch’s scheme as it’s foundation, but the guy needs to develop it a lot if he wants to be a top DC some day.
Much respect to coach, but recruiting is the only key in this day and age.
They'll improve from last year's season for a total of 7-6
*9-3*
7-5
@@bigdoggjones4977 I know. Reason I placed them at 7-6 is I'm including a bowl loss.
@@mylespoun9709 you would think and under a more experienced HC I would argue they'd even go 10/2 maybe even 11/1. I just don't have that much confidence in BV, yet.
Honestly as weak as their schedule is they should win atleast 9 games!
55-19
Troll!
@@henrymantzke7374 Ol’ Alfredo sauce here is a miserable Trojan troll. For a good long while, he would repeatedly write the same crap about how terrible of a coach BV is on every OU video. At least this was a new and refreshing statement from him. I’m almost proud of him for saying something different. Pity his BV obsession.
@@HeadlessAce I’m gonna be 150% honest with you guys before Riley came here to so cal throughout my entire life i loved OU football they were always my second or third favorite school after my dad took me to that natty back then when i was a kid just kinda sucks at least to me that it won’t ever be the same after everything that’s happened

Go away shorthorn. Yours is coming!

He definitely spews a lot of bs hopefully for his sake he doesn't go 6-7 again
Stinkin Lincoln did yall wrong. Now you enter the SEC as a true doormat. Oklahoma sucks as usual. Hook Em😅
If we usually suck, how do we have 50 conference titles? Walk us through that Texas math.
