Late 80's my two year older brother and I, and my solo mom, sat early morning from night time on to buy paper tickets for his concert in Rotterdam late 80's or beginning 90's. We got them and a row of folks. When the day came, trains ran up to the stadium, i was like 11, with my mom, and my older 13 yr old brother and his schoolfriend. The train was loaded with enthusiasm, Holland was awesome before Europa, people were simply overall cool and nice, and enthusiastic at this concert. When we exited the train all of the soccerstadium surroundings littered with prince fans excited. We had to enter the stadium at the rear, my mom with me a boy and two bigger boys making our way through the crowd. I had not gotten a growth spurt yet, i brought a little wooden step to stand on, which was not allowed. Security was enthusiastic as the fans and he told me and my mom i could take it with. Then everybody started running as close to the stage as they could, all the way over at the far end of the stadium, my brother and his friend ran, and i draggedmy mother into a sprint holding that wooden step. Slowly evening came and the field and stands were packes. I recall watching around that open air stadium and seeing lighters (not phones) all over the stadium, ill never forget that image i see. Its Holland, skies turned grey, but the stands were lit by thousands with lighters. Ive been to some concerts in my life, some very cool... Prince was awesome, it had rained throughout the concert, and him and all just had a party through it like for real. Ive been to Sexy Mf in Ahoy later when I was older. My mom ran real fast though when we went with her first time. Both times ive seen Prince live was better than all the other stuff. Prince competed with the likes of Madonna, George Michael, Michael Jackson.. youngsters now know not those times, like they do not understand going to the movies or renting a video. Right before the internet, and mobile phones stuff primed. Romantic real and not too agressive amongst each other. I think Prince has an oevre you would be tempted to say humans best. Ever. There were many other concerts of him, better, that i would have like to attended. I find it hard to believe there will ever be another man or woman, that would hit that rock like Prince did. Music funked out Mozart, Picasso and Ballerina, Poetry lyrical genius, style appearence midget giant, performance c o o l. Who's bad? MJ made. We liked MJ, at least then, charts were competing with music. But we liked Prince. Dude was.... b ad. Yep remember this well, I was at this show and also the show at Eaton Hills hotel which was by far and away the best Prince gig Ive ever seen. This one was right up there too.
@@carolhill8635 Yes, wasnt Eaton Hills such an amazing gig. One of the moments of my life! I had stage side seats for both Brisbane Entertainment shows too! Got to DJ Rashida for tweeting that out as we left the main concert!
It would be interesting, even judicious if The Prince Estate decided to release in physical (on CD), the albums published only on the NPG Music Club, such as Xpectation (2003), C-Note (2004), Slaughterhouse (2004) & The Chocolate Invasion (2004).
