People will pay $50 for a spirit flight and expect first class treatment, spirit isn’t a bad airline it’s an ultra low cost budget one and it’s actually pretty good for what you pay for
exactly-- i can pay $55 roundtrip on Spirit on go from Newark to a handful of east coast/southern cities. I bring a big backpack with a few days worth of clothes. For the money, it's my favorite way to travel.
If you pay an additional $50 for the Big Front Seat, it's actually a very pleasant experience. I do that between ATL and MSP all the time, and its still cheaper than Delta.
Spirit has really got that operation act together over the last few years. Even over the busiest travel weeks of the year, June 25 - July 8, Spirit was the #2 on-time airline and #1 in least cancelled flights.
The big front seat is a great value. Space you get for price is excellent. Seat is more comfortable than AA oasis or even Kodiak seat. The clientele in spirit back of the plane can be fun/interesting. If you don’t need a lot of luggage or snacks it is usually a great value
For the poor people 🤣🤣🤣 us normal peeps take delta, American, or United in first class. I have broke friends and I left them because they were super mean to me so ever since that I hate people that are lower class
I went out and bought a small backpack that conformed perfectly to Spirit's free personal item requirement. I couldn't believe how much I was able to get into it. This was for an overnight trip to the OC, but I think I could have survived for a few days. If nothing else, Spirit has taught me how to pack light! Also, after hearing all the negative press about the Airline, I was really quite pleased with my Spirit experience.
Recently went on a vacation and after over seven hours in the airport United cancelled our flight. They had to send the 737-800 up to Rochester and it never came back. So we had to book Spirit at a different airport. Never flown it before and had some reservations. We had a flight down to Florida with a stop in Myrtle Beach. All flights, including the flight on the way back, were on time (early departing and arriving actually), had friendly crews, clean planes, and they didn’t lose our one checked bag. Had more legroom on Spirit than I do on United. They saved a vacation and I’d fly them again in a heartbeat. Also gave me my first A319 rides!
Last week, I had to fly across the country to get home and the only airline that had a direct flight was Spirit - my first thought was "yeah no, I ain't flying Spirit" but its' direct flight arrived at 8:40AM as opposed to every other option which involved an hour-plus layover plus a connector and all arrived at 12:15PM and later. I thought to heck with it and booked it - expecting the worst every step of the way, fully expecting this to not actually work out. Much to my surprise the flight was not delayed, and while it was definitely not the most comfortable I've been on a flight, it got me home in time to pick up breakfast on my way home from the airport.
I've been on 7 Spirit flights in the past 6 months. I don't know if they've improved, but every single flight I've had has been great. Excellent customer service from terminal to terminal. Yes, there are fees for everything, but I've become a pro at packing 5 days of clothes in a personal bag and no one has ever checked to see if my bag fits in that box at the check in area. I buy a sub, snacks, and drinks before going to the airport to save money and I take my food on the plane. I always carry a backpack stuffed with everything and a bag with food and drinks. As long as the second bag only has food and drinks they do not care. The only thing is that I'm a big guy so I upgrade to the big seat which makes all the difference. I will continue flying Spirit and I'm not sure why it has such a bad reputation unless it's based on previous years. I have a few tips: if you take an early AM flight (6-8 am) going through TSA is a breeze as there aren't as many travelers...do not bother purchasing Spirit's express TSA option or Internet package. They are both worthless. I do buy the Zone 2 pass to get on the plane earlier.
Flew Spirit from LGA to MYR, got to fly on their older A320 as well and for a special treat, it was painted in its “blue livery”. Very comfortable seats, lots of legroom and great tray tables and seat packs.
I've flown on Spirit and I can't really complain about the airline. (I took time to learn about their pricing régime.) Of course the inflight service is as Spartan as it comes, but for an LCC it isn't too bad.
Holy crap, perfect video for why I'm watching. I'm about an hour and a half from Latrobe and I was looking into how much it'd cost and how long it would take to fly from there to Myrtle Beach. Low and behold, I find out that Spirit runs nonstop one ways and roundtrips from Latrobe to Myrtle Beach that take only an hour and a half each way and can cost as low as 51/102 dollars if you only have one personal item, no bags, and choose your seat. I've never flown before so I didn't know what a personal item meant but now that I see it can mean a backpack, I can now say that I'd easily be able to make the trip without paying for bags. I can travel incredibly light when I need to. For a 5 day, 4 night stay at the beach, for example, I can make do with one change of clothes, swim trunks, my Chromebook and its charger, my phone, keys, and wallet. I'd be doing laundry every night but so be it. So with the flight in costing 51 bucks, the hotel I'd stay at (Captain's Quarters for any wondering) costing 434 for Oct 9 to the 13th, and the flight back being 51 bucks again, I could take a 5 day, 4 night vacation at a good hotel on a popular beach for just 536 bucks total. For reference, the same hotel using the same room for the same time span in July would be 600 or more by itself. As for the flight...it's 51 bucks and takes an hour and a half. Amenities are not required. I'd be flying on Spirit because it's faster than driving (about 1/6 the time) and even cheaper since from my place to CQ, it's 1128 miles round trip. Assuming my car gets 300 to a tank and a tank costs 45 bucks (yeah, most gas is cheaper than PA but taking an estimated average here), that'd be 4 fill ups, or about 180 in gas. Funny how flying on a twin engine jet liner costs less than driving with a car lol Now I'm hoping I don't have to put this plan into practice. I'm autistic and can get flustered easily (part of the reason why I don't like the idea of flying, too many people in too small of a space both on the plane and in the terminal) and I just don't like the idea of going on vacation without my family. But I will if we can't go together next year for some reason. Needless to say, I hope Spirit stays independent because I doubt Jetblue would keep that route. As of right now, their flight from Latrobe to Myrtle that leaves tomorrow isn't even half full. No way it can be cost effective.
I agree wholeheartedly with Chris's decision on making his checked baggage fly on Southwest Airlines. Nonetheless, not all person's would be this lucky haha. Great overview and coverage always 🙂. I've flown on Spirit Airlines before and it was just "OK" for me especially being 5"11+. But service was quite fine. Glad that there'll be a change coming 🙏🏽.
Spirit Airlines- when you really want to sit in an uncomfortable seat during your entire flight somewhere, Spirit Airlines is here for you. Welcome Aboard.
I was more uncomfortable on the 30 year old Southwest plane seat that was literaly rocking because it was broken. Not to mention the literal tape keeing a piece of broken plastic in place by the carryon compartments. Ill take Spirit any day.
I’ve flown Spirit so many times and never had any big issues. Ground personnel and crew always helpful and polite. Some people on YT book with then just in order to complain and post stupid videos
Spirit gets a bad rap, because people don't understand their business model. They offer super cheap fares, those super cheap fares only include you and one small personal item, a seat someplace on the aircraft that they randomly pick for you at check in. If you want a carry on bag that's an extra fee, want to pick your own seat that's an extra fee. Always check in online between 1 hour and 24 hours before your flight, and print your own boarding passes, spirit charges for checking in at the airport, and for printing boarding passes. Avoid this. Understand this and you won't have any surprises. I fly to get from point A to point B that's it, I take a small backpack, I don't care where I sit, I only pay the base fare with spirit and off I go. Sometimes my flights cost less then my gas money to the airport, that's how cheap you can fly with spirit. Spirit generally has 1 or 2 flights a day to destinations from most airports, if you absolutely positively have to get to your destination on time, spirit is probably not for you. A cancelled flight on spirit usually means you'll have to take the next days flight, If your flexible it's not a big deal, If you had to get there it can be a huge deal. Remember this before booking with spirit. Who's Spirit For? 1. Travelers that travel light and want to get from point A to point B with flexibility 2. Families that can pack light, that are frugal, or wouldn't be able to afford to fly on another airline. Who's Spirit Not For? 1. Business travelers who absolutely have to get to the destination on time. 2. People who want ultra comfort and luxury when flying. 3. Families that pack 18 bags for a 5 day trip and have to sit together. Spirit Value Scale 1. Dirt Cheap. Book a base fare, take a small backpack, this is the dirt cheap way to fly. 2. Semi Dirt Cheap. Book a base fare, take one check in bag, this is usually still cheaper then other airlines. 3. Cheap With Comfort. Book a base fare, take a backpack, select the big front seat. This is generally cheaper then other airlines, and you get to sit in a first class sized seat. 4. Cheap With A Seat. Book a base fare, take one check in bag, and select a cheap seat in the rear. Still cheaper than some airlines. 5. Not So Cheap. Book a base fare, take multiple carry on and checked bags, and pick a seat. At this point your getting to the same price point of other airlines. 5. Expensive. Book a base fare, take multiple check in and carry bags, pick a big front seat. This is going to cost more than most other airlines.
Spirit is cheap and is a for a 2-3 hour flight tops unless you have emergency exit or the roomier leg room seats (IMO). I take spirit from OC Cali to Vegas every 2-3 weeks and never had an issue. They've always been pretty cool... Usually it the passengers that cause the problems... Not listening to stay in your seats when the ride gets bumpy. Spirit is decent for what they provide. I vouch for Spirit.
Congratulations! You managed to survive flying Schvartze Airlines. The worst thing about Spirit is the class of people who tends to fly it. The typical Spirit passengers are people who aren't too considerate of other people and have a tendency to become unruly when they don't get their way.
We've flown Spirit a few times over the past 4 years, we never had a bad flight, the air crew were always great and reservations and ticketing were easy. My only negative comment is the obvious comfort issue, I even paid extra for an exit seat once, but seats in general not comfy. Our flights were about 3 hours, but that seems to be my limit, beyond that might be pushing my endurance.
Honestly, take Amtrak to FL. Make the ride part of the trip at least one way. Very generous seating space (no sardine seating), free WiFi, foot and leg recliners, plugs at your seat, no long security lines, a bathroom three times the size, you can get up and wander, cafe cars and a cafe counter. You couldn't pay me to fly on spirit or other airlines with that lack of seating space.
That piano player at 0:47 sounded great, and I really wish he should've kept the camera on him for more than 2 seconds. I realize that this is a flight video and not a video on music, but when capturing someone who can play like that even on here, keep the camera on him for like 8 or 10 seconds and not only for 2
I love spirit... yes is cheap. and sometimes don't have the luxury of others, but in my case direct flights without stops. Less time in airports... That's for me is fine... You can bring food with you...
Just flew NK. MKE-LAS roundtrip. I normally fly WN, but they are charging $1000 round trip, were the same route NK was charging $290 Round trip for 2 people. Like others have said, if you know what you are getting into, its totally fine! People do not do the research and expect Delta or Southwest.
6:49 - where are you flying over right here? I tried to see it I could find it on Google satellite map but couldn't find it anywhere (locating somewhere on Google map after seeing it outside aircraft window is something I do for fun when watching these flights videos).Anyway, I looked for the spot at 6:49 all around the rivers south of Washington in southwestern Pennsylvania, but I couldn't find it anywhere
to get from A to B spirit is good but i wouldnt go on anything over 3 hours unless you get a bigger seat. those small seats are brutal i had a 3 hour flight to LA and the guy next to me put his legs over mine while sleeping and fell over on me i couldnt wake him up lmaoo it was horrible
I remember running into one of your videos a while back thought I subbed, but noticed I didn’t. So I’ve officially subbed!!! Also your hands are superior, so big ☺️😌 perfect for measuring tray tables and IFE, etc! Haha
@@Joshpir17 Wishing you luck from Florida. We tell everyone moving from blue states that we expect them to vote red as we intend to keep Florida safe from the radical leftist.
The airline industry needs airlines like spirit.....I really hope that jetblue does not turn spirit into jetblue and eliminate a lower cost way to travel. Spirit has a market, for short flights, and you can manage a personal item only, Spirit is the best way to fly imo.
There is Frontier... and I'm my experience... they are considerably worse, but that's not the point. We need competition at low prices to keep them that way.
Washington, PA?? That was a nice treat b/c that's right near my neck of the woods & I'd never seen it so clear & completely from the air b/c anytime I flew over it, well, I was payin' attention to other things, like flying, ha. I did my PPL training @Wash. Co. Airport. Again, another treat to see that featured in the vid...kudo's. 😉👍🖤💛✌️
I didn't even get what I paid for with Spirit they told me at a layover that my flight my final destination literally didn't exist, and yet my itinerary showed otherwise. Clownshow.
So you say your parent's bags are flying FREE on the LUV airline. How much did their tickets cost on WN from PIT-TPA vs Spirit???? Nothing is free on any airline and Southwest is not cheap. Could it be they wrap those bags in a Higher fare and call the bags free, well of course they do? If you want to pay $400-$425 on WN or rather than paying Spirit $175 + $80 bags and $40 seats= $295.00 go for it. WN bags are not free, no airline has free bags, they just wrap it in a higher fare. It's all about how they advertise
Very true Southwest isn't cheap...but a lot of the times they're the same price as American, United, & Delta whose checked bags are not free. As far as this trip, they used points so 🤷♂️
It’s mid 2023 now and I agree with the most comments I read here. Spirit is comfortable and smooth. Airbus is better than Boeing so go figure. Only thing I don’t like is they charge for carry-on and they own aircrafts with no option whatsoever. I mean, the seat back pocket is just a couple of strings. That’s pathetic. I can’t believe the manufacturer ask for extra $$$ to make that a real pocket.
Interesting choice to wear a Breeze Airlines facemask, did any of the cabin crew make mention of it? Great travel hack--using your parent''s SWA bag allowance so yours flies free! How much of this Florida trip was out of pocket for you? Obviously your parents took care of the car rental but what was your portion? How far is Madeira Beach from Tampa? Math question--if your flight is 120 miles from TPA and you arrive in 30 minutes, how fast are you traveling? Answer--Damn fast! :)
People will pay $50 for a spirit flight and expect first class treatment, spirit isn’t a bad airline it’s an ultra low cost budget one and it’s actually pretty good for what you pay for

By the time you factor in all the add-on fees, many of which are unavoidable, Spirit is seldom cheaper than Southwest or the legacy carriers.

I work for Breeze airways. Love the mask your wearing
Great Video Jazz! Whats your opinion on Spirit?
Won't fly Spirit unless it's litterally the only option between two particular cities.
Great video man
I agree
Going on my first plane Friday. I went Spirit. Thanks for the info.
How was it
Spirit: Even under JetBlue’s management we are still awful.
The price is dirt cheap, of course it’s going to be ‘awful’, nonetheless it’s a very good deal
to get from A to B spirit is good but i wouldnt go on anything over 3 hours unless you get a bigger seat. those small seats are brutal i had a 3 hour flight to LA and the guy next to me put his legs over mine while sleeping and fell over on me i couldnt wake him up lmaoo it was horrible
I remember running into one of your videos a while back thought I subbed, but noticed I didn’t. So I’ve officially subbed!!! Also your hands are superior, so big ☺️😌 perfect for measuring tray tables and IFE, etc! Haha
I wish Frontier was the one that JetBlue was buying…spirit is an ULCC with WiFi. Now we won’t have any ULCCs with WiFi.
If you fly on a spirit airlines plane with the haeco vector light seats, you’ll be surprised for how comfortable they are for being very thin seats.
Hey mom, I just missed the bus
Mom: let's go to the flying school bus to get you there:)
Spirit now flies to Boise so could you film a video about flying to Boise on spirit
nobody goes to boise
@@davidmoser3535 well I live there so I was just wondering and actually a lot of people come here to live here from California and many other states
@@davidmoser3535 Actually, Boise is one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
@@Joshpir17 Wishing you luck from Florida. We tell everyone moving from blue states that we expect them to vote red as we intend to keep Florida safe from the radical leftist.
Just out of curiosity where are you from? Im from RI
“you sit in your sardine seat & wait for the next airport” LMAOOOOO
I didn't think Spirit still has those old seats. The newer seats even though less comfortable they provide more legroom
I went on a one hour flight from michigan to nyc and back it wasnt bad and the staff were really nice
They are not the orginal school bus in the sky, It was actually Hughes Airwest the top bananna in the sky, but before your time
6:14 legit feels like you walked into the backrooms
I've flown Spirit 6 times now. Will add 4 more flights over the next two weeks. Only once did I ever have a bad experience. Edit: READ MY REPLY
I have spoken too soon….
If you’re reading this…. DON’T JUST DON’T. Customer service does not exist I’m now stranded for two extra days…
Also why does that spirit plane have two different swat types in economy?
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
The airline industry needs airlines like spirit.....I really hope that jetblue does not turn spirit into jetblue and eliminate a lower cost way to travel.
Spirit has a market, for short flights, and you can manage a personal item only, Spirit is the best way to fly imo.
There is still Frontier which is like Spirit Airlines.
I am actually a little sad Jet Blue wants to buy spirit...I really like flying with spirit and the price is right.
Jimmy Fallon; The Tonight Show, always makes fun of Spirit.

Clicked for the Aruba t-shirt😎
Any Jazzmom videos coming?

you get what you pay for with spirit. it's not bad at all.
I didn't even get what I paid for with Spirit they told me at a layover that my flight my final destination literally didn't exist, and yet my itinerary showed otherwise. Clownshow.
Question?? What size backpack did you use? Mine they made me pay for.
18"14"8" dimensions will be free of charge
That flight attendant jumping
As far as this trip, they used points so 🤷♂️
@@thejazzguy13 Love your videos, keep up the good work
@@thejazzguy13Usually Southwest gets cheaper than the big three from what I’ve seen.
Absolutely excellent video Chris!
Hey Life's Ups and Downs!
@@BluegrassElevators hi
Spirit sucks their seats are like public benches
1:17 "the only thing that is free is, the seat you 'paid for' (?) and one personal item"...hahahaha. If the seat was paid for, how is it free?...
I’m glad you fly spirit! My sister is a flight attendant for spirit.
Hello;
I thought Spirit was merging with another flight firm.
All the best Shaun of NYC 🦉🦉
Jetblue
What was the crying meter at for this flight?

Interesting choice to wear a Breeze Airlines facemask, did any of the cabin crew make mention of it? Great travel hack--using your parent''s SWA bag allowance so yours flies free! How much of this Florida trip was out of pocket for you? Obviously your parents took care of the car rental but what was your portion? How far is Madeira Beach from Tampa? Math question--if your flight is 120 miles from TPA and you arrive in 30 minutes, how fast are you traveling? Answer--Damn fast! :)
4:05 the man at the bottom right the way his eyes widen as he sees the camera XD
How much is the cost
Lol Crew friendliness. Spirit Agent just tackled a lady in Dallas. I think they automatically lose their friendly card
She hit him first.

Pay more so you don’t have to deal with stress delays. Use a different airline. Best wishes to all
I wanted to travel on spirit but after hearing about the Jetblue merger I'll go with Frontier.
@thejazzguy13 You need to fly the Spirit A320neo before the airline is gone.
Basically the American edition of Ryanair
Thats the Spirit👍
great video
I like the video so much thejazzguy13 it so awesome
