Addressing some inconsistencies here, which I quite understand because it was kind of unclear from Fender at the time: Ray is talking about the 2004 50th anniversary ‘54 reissue but is holding the 2004 50th anniversary american deluxe! They were next to each other in the catalogue but the reissue was basically old stock and masterbuilt. Whereas this was just a super nice edition of the then-current american deluxe with gorgeous gold lettering, locking tuners, sculpted heel, S1 switch, etc. About 1/4 the price too. Which is better? This one!
I have one too. The most beautiful wood and finish, it is my best guitar. I don't play it, I let it sit there like the God it is. Incredible pick-ups and switching. The most stunning guitar I have ever seen.
I'm a huge fan of Strats, so I really appreciate that you have further dispelled the myth that you can't play metal on Strats and your example rubs it in the naysayers faces!
i never understood the "can't play metal on a strat bridge pickup". Its just bullshit. On the contrary, it is really easy because it sounds tight AF because of the pickup's frequency response. It is shaped like a mid hump. Kinda like what a Tubescreamer would do and it is really spanky. Ive got some lace pickups in my strat cuz i wanted a fuller sound. They kinda sound like a thinner P90.
I have a 2004 50th Anniversary Fender Strat arriving Monday, but It is not the 54' reissue. I got to play one a week ago and it turns out, I needed one in my life.
I have a 65 Telly that has a single coil Lace Sensor Blue neck pickup in the bridge position that my friends cant believe I play metal on. I think I sounds great lots of chug with definition when you need it.
Great video. Glad to hear that even the heaviest of metalheads still has a great appreciation for the Strat. Such a classic guitar it's a shame so many players look down on them for whatever reason but those single coils really punch thru on the track. Great work. Also, if you're looking for the single coil look without the hum, check out Lace Sensor pickups. Just got one in my strat and it plays beautifully
Hit the volume pot switch, I think it mixes (based on pickup selection) parrallel or serial or something like that. If you think it sounds heavy in standard mode, with the volume pot switch activated it really thickens things up.
I don’t know what it is but metal on single coils is something I enjoy so much. Maybe because people think you can’t do it maybe because it sounds awesome. Idk. Great guitar and great playing, stay metal brother.
Normally I dislike metal, but I enjoyed this! Thanks for mentioning that it's heavy (Heavy man!) I was thinking to get this guitar but not if it's heavy! Good review!!!
Not a 54 reissue. It has a 2-point trem. The 54 had a 6 point trem. It has headstock truss rod adjustment, the 54 was heel truss rod adjustment. It has locking tuners, 54 had split post tuners. It has 9.5" radius, 54 had 7.25". It has noiseless, pickups, S1 switch and 5-way selector. The 54 had none of that. It is 22 frets, a 54 had 21. It's a 2004 USA Deluxe in a special finish to mark 50 years of the Fender Strat. But it is not a 54 reissue by any means.
Wassup man! I also am dreaming on getting my hands on one of these strats, they’re just fucking amazing, I am more of a Jackson guy but Fender is way damn historic. I am also enlisting in the Army soon, do you think I can play in the barracks? (not in basic training or AIT, but after them) what division you were in and what was your rank? You were active or Reserves? I want to join Rangers or Special Forces but it’s hard but not impossible, then I will tryout for 1-SFOD-D. Thank you for your service.
Hmm Sounds great, but on the computer screen it looks like you're not recording while playing. And when you are talking it's recording 🤔 I have the same guitar
You can cover a lot of ground with a Strat as the guy is showing here. The best Strat sounds though are the classic bell tones. That’s why you buy a Strat really.
@@xanderraymondcharles alright man i working on some stuff ill try to give u it all for free me and my bro are trying to get 25 master tracks out this year
Single coil strats can be awesome for metal. They can really punch through the mix Whereas sometimes the high-gain/ Humbucker sounds get lost
Hey I agree completely! They are much more pokey-er
I've been playing metal and other aggressive music with Stratocaster for almost 10 years now, the single coils have never been an issue.
Sick dude!
Idkk why it’s always so debated

Also not to be confused with the Fender 50th anniversary strat! This is the strat anniversary. yeesh!
