I Think talking about the battery, you need to mention that it has 30 hours in full GNSS mode, which is really impressive vs Garmin. WHO ever needs NFC snd Music storage when running in the nature? Suunto is for trailrunners, not smartwatch people
Very Happy with my Race. Interesting the HR accuracy you didn’t find more accurate like DC did with the newer Race S. I had been considering switching to the Race S but after this hands on review I think I might just stick with my Race. Thanks for the excellent review guys
I have similar accuracy from my Garmin watches, honestly the race is more comfortable on my wrist than my Garmin’s ultimately that is the deciding factor.
It's so odd you're getting poor HR monitoring. I wear this and my Garmin instinct 2 and they're pretty much the same. Fully switched over to the Suunto now after doing that for a few runs.
Do these guys like the HR performance of any watch? Every review is the same…heart rate is disappointing. The Race S heart rate works perfectly fine for me. Totally in line with Apple Ultra and Garmin 265.
I just bought one of these and have had the same issue with the HR monitoring, especially when im doing sprint reps or circuit training. It will read 100 bpm then randomly jump up to 180 for half a minute, then dropcback to 140, its all over the place. Still a lot of watch for the money though and the offline maps and GPS accuracy alone make it an absolute bargain at that price.
I received it yesterday. The user experience is fantastic, the most beautiful interface vs the other actors on the market to my mind. However, it took very long time to download maps. I don’t know if there is this problem on other watches
Great vid! If this and the original race cost the same (£325) which would you go for? I also noticed a scratch on the bottom around 13:37. Trying to decide between this and the race! I've been with Suunto since 2015 so I'm sticking with them!
Je confirme. Le gps est très précis. J'ai vu une différence avec ma garmin 965. Elle capte très rapidement les signaux alors que la 965 met énormément de temps
I own a Garmin 255, I'm happy with it, but I liked the Coros world better both in terms of interface and use of my pace 3, now I'm considering the idea of switching to Suunto race, what do you think? Then I would like to ask you, seeing your review of the normal Suunto race and I saw the problem on the intervals that does not indicate which one you are on, could you tell me if the problem has been solved with an update I have with the release of this race S? I have to know if it will be resolved
Funny this because i actually have the exact same combo!! It is actually a Coros x Emma Bates "Run Hard Have Fun" Blue watch strap. I noticed it because i have the exact same combination and though it was weird he had the same!
@@greertopsThanks! I didn't realise that the coros straps fitted the 965, I really like the retro looking white with the blue and red stripes. I'll be picking that up!
looking for a budget running watch, large & bright screen, easy to read, light, displaying (at the very least) distance, duration, pace metrics during run. which would you recommend? thanks
Unless you subscribe to a paid app you might get maps on your Ultra but you can’t load up a route with turn by turn directions of a route in the wilderness.. these maps work just fine.

Fantastic watch, listen to nature not music, much safer👍
been waiting for this review, been really interested in this watch, looks amazing for the price point. The battery life puts me off though..

A fantastic point, the Suunto Race S is produced in Finland contrary to the Suunto Race which is produced in China while the price is higher

No the Race S is made in China, it says on the Suunto website. DC Rainmaker is wrong.

I found with Suunto I had to wear the watch very high on the wrist to get accurate hr.

J’hesite entre la Suunto race S et la Garmin forerunner 955. Je penche vers la Suunto apres avoir ecumé les test et en voyant votre avis
Strange with the HR, both DC Rainmaker and Desfit get great results from running
It is indeed remarkable that the wrist HR observations of the Suunto Race S from two leading reviewers are disputed by many other reviewers.
Nice one lads ❤
Which of these watches would you choose for running?
coros pace pro
forerunner 265
suunto race s
Hello, is HR monitoring also bad during rest or at night, or only during sports sessions?

I have three question. Has it re-route mode? Can I use strava with it and can I control music and answer calls?
Thanks
As anyone run a 24 hour race with the Race S? How was it? Does it last?
What kind of strap does Nick use on his forerunner 965?

Suunto race s in 5 years, will it still good like the update from suunto
"In terms of step counting, is it accurate, or does it have the usual bugs of previous models?"
Accurate for me, better than previous one
poor HR monitoring
I have a step counter issued not accurated? Any one same?
Its a shame
The maps don’t show street names, like my Apple Watch ultra.

If Suunto wasn’t bought out by a Chinese company I’d consider it. Apple and Garmin are my only options.
