Having literally bought the now "old model" a few weeks ago, most likely while this video was being shot under embargo, and picking the old model up from the showroom while they had the old model in the warehouse... well let me just say I am not impressed. I feel like I was used to move obsolete stock at full price. -I do love the Linea Mini, but my concern is more about the ethical (or otherwise) behaviour of LM Aus- After contacting LM Aus directly we have worked out our differences. I'd be pretty pissed. The new one is better in a ton of significant ways. Legit i'll spend $2K US over the Micra just for the integrated scale to nail the extraction exactly and to truly multi-task on steaming my milk. Plus legit pre-brew and the shot timer (esp on the black model looks amaze). So to get the old one at the last second would be BS. Glad you felt like the wrong was righted in some way.
This video makes black look so much better than it did on the last model, but I'm sticking with white. I noticed they swapped the brew and steam pressure gauges to match the Micra, which makes sense given the steam wand is on the right. I also like that the front panel in the brew area is now matches the main body, making the look a little more contemporary and easier to clean.
Definitely perfect time for releasing this one, I had split thoughts to buy Linea Mini or one other machine and now Linea Mini has everything I desired for and it's definitely go go go...! Someone will spend some money soon :D
Just wish La Marzocco would abandon the whole app idea or at least make it optional, having pre-wet and pid funtions locked down in an app makes a machine that would otherwise last a lifetime, last as long as they update their software. I truly wish they would just stick to what the are amazing at: the machines! and not software.
Yeah. Not a fan of an app. So everyone has to install the app to use the machine? Just put a screen on the thing already. I just want these things to be internet connected so they can receive firmware updates but also for any machine that has auto on and off it’s important to correct drift.
Nope the app is great and allows far more adjustability than some clumsy PID that traditional E61 machines have. I am happy to use my app on my Micra as I can control all the parameters that I want to....
The upgrades here are excellent! Lots of upgrades without a price increase is surprising. The cool touch wand alone used to be a $700 upgrade - now included standard!
I wish new iphones came with this insane level of new features with each release. Any one of these features alone would justify the upgrade. La Marzocci blazing ahead as always!
Is the extra room between the portafilter and tray worth the extra money over the lower price of the Micra? The Micra has a small space for a large cup.
Very clear review. Thank you. I have the old Linea mini, I don’t think I need to upgrade. But true a nice update tho. La marzocco gotta launch the new Linea Mini before it got killed by Micra.
plastic steam - they put metal one - all good :D Plastic looks really shitty. For plastic portafilter.... - Not big fan how it looks visually. But it works nice for home! Tryied old one and to compare with new... Maybe I'll stay with new one . (LaMarzocco technicians told me that I can buy old one + old gasket and it will works with old portafilter)
@@NikitaFilmbook _Old_ portafilter? How is the standard spouted LM portafilter the “old” portafilter? Pretty much a standard portafilter used across their lineup…this plastic nonsense with chromed brass is just a cost saving measure in disguise
Old LMLM still has my vote. I feel like the coffee people who will get the most out of the LMLM want the strictly manual features found on the original (old) version. The pre-infusion and easy pump pressure adjustment are the biggest wins here but don't think those warrant the upgrade from the original so I totally agree with you here!
I think the same, also I made my own preinfusion (put the paddle in the middle) mod using the same materials that La Marzocco use in the factory. Now have fully manual control on the prefusion and brew pressure just moving the paddle. The new LMLM is wonderful, the only request I have is lower the price of the cool touch (steam wand) for existent LM owners.
Love how LM keeps pushing everyone to say "Polymer" instead of Plastic. Nonetheless I think they did a great job with this machine, it will sell like fresh baked bread
I have only just purchased the old mini not realising the new machine was on its way, however I’m pretty sure you can do the pre-saturation on the existing mini? Does this one operate any differently?
I would be all over this if it had a proper pre infusion. Can't justify the upgrade from my BDB until it does, even if I really want one because of the beautiful design.
I wonder what exactly the second solenoid tries to achieve. It seems like with the old version, theoretically you can achieve the three brew phases if the software allowed it. maybe the extra solenoid is trying to prevent coffee from going too far up the brew chamber?
The old lines mini is just turning the brew pressure on and off. The second solenoid means they can offer just running water without the 9 bars. The coffee machinist was offering this as an upgrade. I’d love to know more about how it works
@@s0041464 hmm maybe I’m misunderstanding, but can’t you just turn the pump off but keep the brew solenoid on in order to allow water to run without depressurizing?
I took a look at the coffee machinist's mod and it looks like with that, you are able to do a low pressure preinfusion that's adjustable by a needle valve. it makes sense that this requires an extra solenoid since there's two paths - one unobstructed one for full pressure, and one with the needle valve for lower pressure. but in this case it doesn't seem like the linea mini allows for a low pressure preinfusion?
@@fgarced La Marzocco's Manual Paddle with two-stage infusion predates Slayer even existing, by about 30 years. They could implement this easily enough.
@nd4262 Yes, La Marzocco must implement a pre-infusion paddle on their entire lineup. It's not difficult. It's a simple implementation. They could also sell a kit to retrofit existing Linea Minis and Micras. Here's another opportunity to make money and to cement and grow their reputation. La Marzocco needs to wake up and stop resting on their laurels. There's too much competition now.
Yes but is not the same as Slayer have (on slayer you can control the stop and start pre-infusion at any time), this LM is a timer and need to be completed then pump reach 9 BARS.
Great upgrade but they forgot about one hugely annoying thing. The hot water tap withought a mixing valve. The hot water direct from the boiler is far too hot. It destroys a coffee.
