Four years ago, I wrote comments (below), regarding how I discovered and explored the music of Kaji Meiko. Now, at age 71, my admiration of her continues. She's a legend, a goddess of ultra feminine, yet powerfully strong, beautiful music. I will ever adore, admire, respect this amazing, great singer. I love everything about her. As an old Texas cowboy, I can only dream of meeting her, but I will always love and respect Kaji Meiko.
When I saw Tarantino's "Kill Bill" movies, I heard the voice of Kaji Meiko for the first time. I had no idea who she was, but I bought the DVDs, just to read the credits, find a Japanese name, search on line, to know who she was. I learned Tarantino has admired her since the early 1970s, she's a legendary Enka singer, former action actress. Her character, "Lady Snowblood," inspired the sword fight scenes by Uma Thurman with Lucy Liu in "Kill Bill 1." Her voice enchants, haunts, with incredible beauty, ultra feminine, yet amazing strength. To me, Kaji Meiko remains one of the greatest singers of all times. Weiland Brian is correct about this song, and so many others by her. I ordered her CDs from Japan, and never tire of hearing Kaji Meiko's sensual, soft, sultry, enchanting voice,, slowly drawing the listener in, capturing the very soul of all who really listen. Many thanks from a 67 y/o Texas cowboy. Blessings always to this classy, elegant Japanese lady. I admire and respect her more than I can express in mere words.

MEIKO KAJI is a legendary actress and singer of Japan. She started GIRL POWER in her movies, especially revenge movies like LADY SNOWBLOOD 1&2, FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION SERIES, BLIND WOMANS CURSE and many other movies. CLASSIC and TIMELESS songs from an ICONIC singer actress.
I have been learning both formally and informally for several years. I have loved Meiko's voice even before I could understand a single word she was singing. As my Japanese vocabulary has grown, my love of Meiko has grown as well. Her voice is powerful, expressive, emotional, and beautiful.

It seems like all the major, late-Showa, Japanese movie studios pimped their male and female actors as pop singers, on the side, and every so often, they hit gold! And this was SO true of Meiko Kaji, who was never "kawaii" because she was just a good singer and an incredibly cool actor first! She was always amazing but never kawaii!

@@Neon_Warning yeah and lady snowblood is by far the better movie ofc it is the acting of meiko kaji is amazing the story is thrilling its a shame that a lot of people dont give lady snowblood the credit it deserves the sequel was breathtaking too, timeless classics will always love them!

Wow. Where are all these English comments coming from?...she wasn't even really a singer, well she was but not the biggest known. She was better known as an actor. She appeared in numerous samurai drama, movies, and some contemporary tv dramas as well. She was such a cool beauty.
