Don’t have an Aeropress, but just tried it with a chemex, and the result were extraordinary. This channel is changing my life

Interesting. That's the exact ratio I came up with. 20g coffee 200g water seems to melt 100g of ice almost completely. Some chemistry, the more saturated the water becomes the less effective a solvent it is (the less it can extract flavor.) Therefore, as much of the water as possible should go into the grounds, with a minimal amount of unmelted ice at the end.

    Hey Tom!
It's going to be 38 Degrees Canadian today, I think I might just have to try brewing my second coffee of the day with this Japanese method!
    Thanks for the great idea.
I've become more of an espresso fella since I bought my machine but it is still nice to bring out my aeropress for occasions other than camping.

Nice and toasty weather, especially that far North! I hope you enjoy making some AeroPressed JP iced coffee! Let me know how it turns out!

So you don't have a set steep time? I find 2 minutes works well for my Japanese iced coffees through the regular aeropress.

@@edeverick23 I do not. I’ve tried a few different times but I usually prefer it when I flip and press as soon as possible.

I don't do it based on a timer, I do it based on the raft/bed, since that's where the advantage of a long steep comes into play. A settled bed in an aeropress will filter out more particulate matter that could otherwise push through the paper filter, resulting in a cleaner cup. The science, the extraction happens quickly and you don't really have a way to know exactly how fast it's happening. As long as you get past the point of peak extraction, you can dial it back through grind and temperature.
