Hi, I have heard that putting honey over the bottom of the cut stem also increases the anti fungal and anti pest properties of this method.
Have you heard of, or even tried this?

I really dont recommend doing the top as it can produce root rot. Place it indirect shade and mist it to keep the soil nice and moist
