Yeah isn't ideal although the same happens while lure fishing, is just apart of it I guess.

hey nev I love watching your videos and tips but I will give you a bit of advise fishermen to fishermen the hook will rust out of the fish within time for example I'm from the uk and I caught a big eel and he had swallowed the hook right down and so I had to cut the hook then three weeks later how I don't know how I caught the exact same fish exact same markings same hook markings to where I had caught it and the hook had rusted away because there where tiny bits of rusted hook in its mouth but with salt water and time that hook will rust away so if you put the snapper back they won't die and it won't d any harm to them at all and they will still feed like normal anyways tight lines buddy

I found that changing from sport circle hooks to in line circle hooks decreased gut hooks by a lot
That can also help a little. Although I've also had inline hooks swallowed a fair amount
Yes true, it depends on the design of the hooks, if its a tuna in line circle, then snell knot is needed. If it's a Mutu style hook then a knot died directly to the eye is needed

Hey Nev. Love your videos. I have just started boat fishing (12.5ft tinnie) with my sons and have been predominantly chasing squid. The plan has always been to bag out on squid then try for some snapper but bag out hasn't happened yet lol. Can you help me with the snapper rig you are using in western port and did you actually catch them in 4.5 meters? also how far off shore are you? TIA.
Sure did, 4-6m is perfect. Was about 2.5k off land

Usually brain spike, bleed then ice

Snapper must be having a party in that area. Took the little bloke out on the 27th and they were coming into the boat one after the other. We ended up leaving because we were catching too many. All big dogs. Little bloke was catching 40cm plus on his whiting rod. Ended up breaking his rod. Wonder what’s going on in the area atm?
