    The AQ hand merits a call on the river. Betting 1/3rd pot on the turn with a very strong hand is not a thing. It’s a sign of weakness inducing a raise from your opponent’s Ax hands. On the turn, I would probably check back thinking I couldn’t get 3 streets with such a strong hand and go for value on the river. If I was going to bet the turn, I’d go 2/3rds pot around $110-120. If I got raised making a large turn bet, then I might fold. But, as the hand was played, it’s a must call on the river. Sure sometimes you’re going to be beat, but it’s too strong to fold.

    Folding AQ there is such an exploit, you’d have to know your opponent really really really well. Knowing just that he hates you isn’t enough imo

  • @Shoot1ngStar

    Horrible fold with the AQ. Sorry man but you definitely chickened out simply because you didn't want to pay a guy you dislike. There's like two hands that you lose to given the action, A7ss and pocket 7s. Any other person and I guarantee you make that call 99% of the time.

    I had 11 set over set situations in 2023, all of them I lost. It wiped 90% of my bankroll. In my defense Polk said don’t fold sets :/. Do you ever fold a set with no realistic straight / flush combos available (in case obscure hands beat you)? Or just live with the variance?

    • @johngilbert7359
      @johngilbert7359 10 місяців тому

      You never really know, though, on hands where the opponent folds after they see your set. You could have some wins that you just do not know were set over set.

    • @davidculhane4388
      @davidculhane4388 10 місяців тому

      It would have to be against somebody I know is never bluffing and it has to be bottom set for me to consider folding a set on a dry board. Depending on pre-flop action against a really big nit I would maybe fold a set of 7's on a board like K73A9

  • @CR_Chitown
    @CR_Chitown 10 місяців тому +1

    I agree with AQ fold. i appreciate your folding based on opponent. But you also have many better spots to put in money.
    His call of your preflop raise, call on flop, small check raise on turn, and donk bet on river is a line that a full house makes. You unblock pocket 77. You also lose to AK, A8, A7.
    So there are plenty of hands that can take this line and beat you. Will he take this line with worse a kicker or crazy bluff? Maybe.
    His line just wants to make me puke. Small enough raise to keep you in on turn. Small enough bet to get you to call.
    The 250 bet on river is really interesting. Is that blocker or value? You put thumb on side of scale of value based on player type.
    I think this is a fold you should be proud of. You went through a very long downswing in fall when you were making second best hand and paying off on river. Your analysis lead you to view hand that way and folded.
