You never had one, right? So let me tell you from an actual user: I've been using pump fountains for the last decade with two cats and one dog and never ever had a single hair caught. Maybe the one you used was bad but I've never seen that ever. What you will find on cleaning is gunking if you wait too long with replacing the water (some people just keep filling instead of actually cleaning so a biofilm can develop). What you will also find is lime buildup if your water hardness is too high. Generally though, it doesn't matter. When you'll present a pet with 3 options: just a dish, gravity fed and fountain they will ALWAYS choose the fountain. Here's the thing matt, if you don't put your pet's needs first you don't get a pet. Simple as that. And in nature they have will ALWAYS prefer running over stagnant water as it's MUCH cleaner. So I don't see why cleaning your pet's equipment is bad - you're just a bad pet owner if cleaning bothers you.

The main problem with pump water bowl is that the inner magnet spinner in the pump gets caught with pet hair and you end up constantly cleaning it.

The frame you use blocks the image and is distracting, just a suggestion but it would be better with a frame only for the first few seconds
