👏🏻👏🏻🤩💯🏆🥳🎉💐 Kathryn, you’re a GENIUS!! & an AWESOME teacher!! Thank you soooo much for sharing your time and your talents and this fantastic technique!! 🤗💕
I'm always searching for new projects with new (to me) techniques, and I have to say that how you do mosaic crochet is brilliant! Absolutely love it, and will be trying your method out shortly!
I can not thank you enough I am making my first mosaic blanket and it is so fun….I wanted to find more projects, even a book… I am going to print this and watch you probably n5 more times before I will try. Thanks so much
Love this!! I hadnt started yet on mosaic crochet. I couldnt get past the funky look of the back of the mosaic designs....but learning this means i can have patterns on both front and back! Super excited to start now!
Hi there! This is a brilliant video! Definitely going to try it! Thank you for sharing your talent with us! I also will be following you on Ravelry!! Happy Crocheting 🥰🧶🌻
Thanks you have shown me a way to do negative stitch with Tunisien! and the doubles work too! Slight mods obviously but then no. ends and neat edges too.
Oh wow!😍 I would love to see that! I haven't done a lot of Tunisian, but I love the "no ends" part! ... off to find my Tunisian hooks and try this out!😁
Hi! I just found you! Wonderfully beautiful art! Yes, its art to me! I'm so interested in learning all your methods. Hi haven't yet checked what you offer. I'm betting on your web site there is more! Thanks so much For this great tutorial! I've been crocheting for many years. But I'm new to mosaic. Only about a month now. Lol I'm currently stuck at home waiting for a surgery. But the good part is I have many hours to crochet!
Yes. Go up and click the settings button, not the box with the C in it. I'd you go in up in tight corner click auto translate and you can pick. At least my phone does, and all languages are there
This tutorial was amazing! I learned mosaic crochet from another UA-camr and she was great but what Ictruly wanted was a duplicate pattern on the back and you were awesome in showing 3 options with different outcomes. I absolutely love it and truly thank you so much. One question I have is whether so not any pattern can be charted as a mosaic crochet pattern w/duplicate pattern on the back? I have a 2-color pattern that is a star wars storm trooper and would really like to create it using your duplicate side mosaic crochet process. Can this be done or created somehow?
Thank you so very much!💕🥰 If you are wanting to do the exact same design on both sides from an overlay mosaic chart, anywhere the chart is marked for a regular drop down dc, you would replace it with a double drop-down. You can also combine any two overlay mosaic charts as long as they are the exact same size. I am planning to do a tutorial how to combine two charts using Excel, but it will probably be next year. If you message me through my website (kathrynclarkcrochet.com/contact/) so I can learn more about what you're wanting to do, I can try to explain more.
Since you are working on the right side to create a design on the back as it is turned over, lettering would be backwards on the back. It would require charting the lettering as a mirror image and then combining the two charts.
Thank you so very much!💕🥰 You can use this technique to create a design on the back of any chart as long as you follow the chart using the double stitches so you have the third loop to work into - so on a regular chart you would work an sc as usual and where there is an "x" for the drop down, you would work a DF (double stitch with drop-down in front). When you want to add a stitch on the back - the sc would change to a DB (double stitch with drop-down in back) and the DF would change to a DD (double stitch with double drop-downs). You could also just work a small section of a chart if you wanted to add hearts and initials or a date, as an example (any lettering would need to be done in mirror image, though, because you are working on the front side to create a design on the back when it is flipped over).
@@KathrynClarkCrochet the chart I am working on does not have an x.it is just a written pattern where it tells me to do double crochet stitches in the front and single crochet stitches in the back loops.
If working from written, sc is worked in the back loop as usual and the double crochet would be worked as a DF (double stitch with drop-down in front). See more in answer to your second question.
I love your video but I was wondering if you can do a video on each swatch that you did one at a time.i got confused and I really would like to learn how.
I'm very sorry, due to other commitments, I'm not able to do an extended video for this; but if you will contact me through my website (kathrynclarkcrochet.com/contact/) so I can email you, I can try to help you through where you're getting stuck.🥰
Hi! It would depend on how much of the design was drop-down stitches since those are the stitches that would be duplicated on the back. The sc are not duplicated so the yardage for those stitches would not change. For example, my Mosaic Hearts Afghan (kathrynclarkcrochet.com/mosaic-hearts-afghan/) is approximately 20% drop-down stitches and 80% sc. I estimated it would take about 25% more yarn to create the duplicate design on the back for this afghan. Depending on the density of drop-downs for your project, I would guesstimate 25-50% more yarn.
The designs on the front and back are worked simultaneously. The video tutorial teaches the double mosaic stitches needed to complete the double-sided designs, as well as how to read the chart and instructions. The free pattern linked in the comments (kathrynclarkcrochet.com/doubled-hearts-coasters/) has the written-out instructions for all of the coasters. 🥰🌺
It would probably be easiest to work from a chart so you could mark out the design you want for the back on it. If working from written, you would at least want the design for the back to be charted out in order to count to the position where you want to add the back stitches. I would suggest trying it out on something small at first. Creating your own design on the back is challenging, but also lots of fun!
@@KathrynClarkCrochet I have a graph but the whole graph chart is a lion.all it has is single crochet in the back loop and double crochet in the front 2 rows below.
@@KathrynClarkCrochet I was thinking of making each single crochet and turning it into a double crochet in back and then when I have to the double crochet in front but do it the way you explained it in the video.i wonder if that would work.the whole entire graph is a lion's head with main.i love your videos.
Could you contact me through my website contact page so I can email you to help better (kathrynclarkcrochet.com/contact/). I don't want to have you to put your email here on a public comment.

Very cool technique!
Thank you so very much!💕🌷
I love learning new techniques
Thank you so much!💕 Me too! Crochet has so many possibilities!
I like to start with the chainless foundation single crochets. It's so much easier than fiddling with chain stitches and back bumps!😊
Absolutely! That would work as well!🥰
I’m new to mosaic crochet and was wondering how to make it two-sided. Thank you for sharing your technique and this clear and easy to follow tutorial.

Hello Kathryn, would the duplicate method work for alphabet letters as well or will they still come out back to front? Thank you!
Since you are working on the right side to create a design on the back as it is turned over, lettering would be backwards on the back. It would require charting the lettering as a mirror image and then combining the two charts.
I love your video.the one that has the 2 hearts in the back, will that work with any mosaic crochet pattern?

Where are the instructions for the second coaster of the backs? The one with the opposite heart colors

On a written pattern, how do you know when to do a drop down stitch in the back.does it have to be a different written format?
It would probably be easiest to work from a chart so you could mark out the design you want for the back on it.
