I detect stone casting.. 😂 I highly doubt ur not harboring silly ass views urself.. we all believe in some trash.. 😂 acceptance is key to learning of ur goofy views that way u can stop it lol.. example it’s a “shame” u like most probably still believe and talk about how the megalodon and great white are related… which is untrue.. turns out great white descendants from the great mako sharks.. stop casting stone fool.. not even religious butt one thing Jesus said I can get behind.. 😂

      Ya, it's an isomer of the natural compound found in many plants. Where do you think they got the idea from in the first place?

    Also despite at first the audio giving me pause VERY quickly you barely notice it, and the background noise is just immersive more than anything else.
    Thank you Shad and Matthew for taking the time to share this knowledge and information with us, people always underestimate the knowledge and skills, intelligence of our far ancestors , they lived in a world where you were very much responsible for yourself and your families survival, you don't get far being an dependant idiot with no common sense or skill.

    The dichotomy that never made sense to me when I was younger was how if “all doctors were butchers with leeches and believed in the 4 humours” then how did all these successful surgeries exist? If cataract surgery exists from then of course some physicians must have been been skilled. Otherwise there wouldn’t have been any because common sense dictates people wouldn’t go to someone if it was 100% guaranteed you’d die. Effectiveness has obviously increased but basis in a treatment historically working and physicians trying their best means some things were known! People have always been people.

    • @karinefonte516
      @karinefonte516 2 роки тому

      Sorry, but as a reenactor myself, I'm itching to tell...
      The bloodlettings and the 4 humours, among many others, were all knowledges gathered from the Greek and passed on by the Romans, then copied by monks and used by them on farm animals, specially pigs as Galen used them as experiments (www.nlm.nih.gov/hmd/medieval/treatises.html). Some farmers would latch on the monks, learn it for general use (human and animal) and then go to war as "field doctors" or "barber surgeons"... Higher ranks in the Church would issue many edicts forbidding monks and freys to pass on such teachings to peasants, half out of zealotry, half to prevent haphazard actions from enthusiasts.
      However, there were already schools of medicine in medieval Europe, being the most famous the Scuola Salernitana (in Salerno, Italy), that enrolled men and women as researchers and surgeons. However, since these were times before microbiology, interventions were avoided as much as possible and the phisicians concentrated their efforts into prevention - healthy foods, exercise, what to avoid etc. www.godecookery.com/regimen/regimen.htm
      But NO, phisicians would not *drink* piss. They would *taste* it, as well as smell it and make a visual analysis of it's contents. www.ancient-origins.net/history-ancient-traditions/urine-wheel-and-uroscopy-your-wee-could-tell-medieval-doctor-009744

They never mention that the Inquisition starts right after the Spanish reconquer (Reconquista) their lands from a 700-year occupation by the Muslim Moors. They didn't pick the Jews out of a hat to hate, the Jews were the clerks and the bureaucrats of the Moorish occupiers. How can you trust them?

    What I always find infinitely fascinating about the REAL medieval period which shad brings to light is just how well the people of this time had their stuff together. I hope the truth presented by shad and other historians slowly drowns out pop culture misconceptions
    Thank you so much for making these changes, shad, the world is a better place because videos like these!

      Fascinating to see just how wrong they have been in the past. For instance doctors recommending the drinking of mercury.

    • @omnitroph1501
      @omnitroph1501 2 роки тому +6

      @@phonepunk7888 It's also fascinating to see how wrong people have been in modern times. For instance, the current obesity epidemic in America can be traced directly to the recommendations of government-issued dietary guidelines and nutritional advice. A program intended to make the population healthier ended up giving nearly the worst possible dietary advice, to disastrous results.

    12-13 Century. Whatever else the opinion on the intellect or intelligence of the people of those times one thing is clear. Good health was important and rare, much like it is today. Trying to find help and reliable solutions is another thing we have in common with our ancestors. Humankind hasn’t changed that much. Not sure that’s a good thing however. Excellent video, thank you for sharing! Stay safe, stay healthy. ❤️

    i genuinely am fascinated by stuff like this. There are people who have so much passion for stuff like this, god knows how many hours of research it would have taken for her to get the necessary information to do this accurately.
    But not only that, there are so many people who do this, that an entire renaissance fair can be made. Where I live, such a concept would be considered absolutely absurd, a waste of time, but I can learn so much through these people.
    there is so much about stuff I wouldn't know I have an interest in without these kinds of videos. they are interesting, educative and above all, entertaining to watch. I genuinely wish more people would see this kind of content, I absolutely love the idea of just taking up a hobby and doing it, just for the sake of it, because it's fun.
    Writing does that for me more than anything else, but it is absolutely fascinating to see and hear about other people's passions. It genuinely amazes me the amount of information and knowledge someone who is passionate about a topic can give compared to someone who does it only as a job. It's like I've entered a new world every time I discover a channel like this.
    love the videos, keep it up!
    Hope youtube stops misvehaving with your channels so that you can do better, it would be a genuine shame if you had to stop.
