Its always interesting to taste something rare and unusual but i suspect many rare fruits are rare for a reason, people know they just aren't worth cultivating except as a novelty 😁
Great review. Ive been thinking of trying to use this as a rootstock too! Definitely worth trying. I’m not sure if they are compatible but I’ve given it a lot of thought.
Thanks for the taste review Ben. I see these mountain soursop trees selling on FB Marketplace and had always wonder what the fruit looks or taste like.
Good review! For a while I was really thinking about getting mountain soursop to try grafting other annona's onto it but I guess its probably more worthwhile to collect other annonas and see if they survive on their own first. Funnily enough I haven't really seen videos or many examples of people using mountain soursop as a rootstock even though its meant to work well. It would be interesting to compare mountain soursop vs cherimoya as a rootstock as cherimoya is supposedly also graft compatible with soursop
Yea I haven’t tried grafting any yet. I might try normal soursop on my mountain soursop that’s in ground already. If you can get other annonas to survive on their own first it’s probably better.
Too bad this is the more cold-tolerant variety. I've only had the green one from a grocer which had a fuzzy tropical taste. Not bad but not great as well.
I have had durian once - still think I was eating rancid onions. Ladies who gave it to me thought it was hilarious. Don't think my brain could get past the odour so ill leave it to the experts.

This one was no good, maybe other trees are though?

Looks delicious
It’s a shame it didn’t taste delicious
You went for the challenge in growing it Ben. Shame it doesn't taste good.
No this one is from tropical fruit world. I am growing a tree too but hasn’t fruited yet. I’m hopefully but not delusional, we’ll see what happens!

The normal soursop can be dependent on the fruit and ripeness. We had an amazing one from tropical fruit world whilst we were there.
@@sydneyfruitgardening I'll need to taste one from there or someone's homegrown.
Amazing that a fruit can smell great and not taste so great and another fruit (Durian) can smell terrible and taste great

@matthewspatch9529 🤣 you sound like me the first time I had it too. It grew on me. It's better frozen too
