Only £32 a night!? Wow, that's crazy cheap. Way to use your points and discounts. Interesting that the room has a double bed and single bed. Cardiff looks like such a charming city and what a cool castle to look at while you're dining.
We’ve stayed in Cardiff a few times at the Royal when going to a show at St David’s Hall.Room similar,no breakfast,Fifty pounds a night, this was on Sunday nights. This is very cheap in comparison. We nt to Lanzarote with Thomson’s,the lady who organised everything there was from Porthcawl.I like Cardiff a lot but I also like the history and the mountains.Great video.
Beautiful castle!! i live in Germany and i hope to visit your wonderful country one day because of the castles you have and the great landscapes, love your videos too, cheers!
Upgraded to a slightly bigger room. Looks a bit cramped, like rooms that I stayed in New York City and Boston, where space is extremely limited. Never came across a room with one double and one twin bed for 3 people. However, it is common to get a rollaway bed added to a room with one bed to sleep 3 in USA. Otherwise, I'd give everything else about that room 4 stars./// Looks like a nice castle. //// Never knew Expedia and other online travel agencies have rewards programs. So, I usually book directly with airlines, hotels and car rental companies with rewards programs.
Like NY and lots of cities, especially in Europe, space comes at a price. They did say on check-in there was an extra bed and they were flexible with room choices. But at the end of the day, we were glad to get away at the equivalent to $42 (including all taxes and breakfast for two) you can't really go wrong.
Would love to see what you think of Wales’ (only?) 5 Star hotel - St David’s in the Bay. They always have some deals on the suites and the spa is lovely when empty
We stayed in the Clayton for 2 nights about 3 years ago, and we thought it was a great hotel. But unfortunately because we were in Cardiff for the rugby( Wales v N.Zealand)..the hotel charges were very high! such a shame when hotels do this. Enjoyed your review though ..
We parked in the rail station car park, £12.50 for 24 hours. We had a food credit for lunch so only paid for the beer. Although at the moment, all the prices in Cardiff have jumped a lot!
Not pointless at all, interesting. Back in the early 90s, I had a little stall in Jacobs market next door. The area has changed quite a lot since then.
@@flydriveexplore I don't. I've tried looking on google but not getting any joy. I'll go social media someone will have pics. I remember going in there when i was about 15. (43 now)
@@gittinsoutdooradventures5267 I used to go there twice a week, but back in the day, we didn't photograph everything like we do today 📸 Remember the time before smartphones?

With the credits, the stay was virtually free. Yes, it was strange to have an extra bed in the room could have done with the extra space instead.

It was a really good price for the stay.
Nice! Looks like a nice place and a great location. And Mel I love your mask!
Thank you! Marcus hates it lol
@@Mel_FlyDriveExplore well it's not like his plain black mask is better!

That is NOT a small room! It's just in America you're used to apartment sized rooms 🤦♀️
Very nice about time you went grand for a change can’t believe you will be up a drafty cold mountain after that the ritz for you with heated lodge
I definitely need some comfort, don't mind walking up the mountains as long there's a nice hotel and a good bar at the end of the day.
I'm staying here next weekend with executive Room like you had ... (3-5 Dec)

We were looking at going back there sometime. We have been but it was quite a long time ago.
Great video 👍 keep up the work and video.
Hotels seem to be cheap at the moment tbh.
Yours faithfully: THE TRUE UK TRAVELLER.
Thanks. At the moment, if you get the chance to go somewhere you just have to take it as you probably won't get the chance the following week.
Very expensive independent shops thanks for posting
There is an Oxfam on the corner of Margan Arcade which they refer to as an 'Oxfam Boutique'

Unfortunately, that charging during events is not uncommon.
I'm going to the new threatre.where is the best b n b to stay near there?
Not sure about B & B but we are trying out Sleeperz Hotel next week which is only about 10 minutes walk from the theatre

@@flydriveexplore thank you for the reply.
clayton hotel was built on the site of an old police station. Just some random pointless information.

@@flydriveexplore you remember the old police station then? I've just tried finding a picture of it. It was derelict for years
