I talked to one of the heads of the company at Celebration today. Seriously let down with ABS plastic for many helmets. The imperial guard one is fiberglass and amazing. That black series should be blown away by a company like this. Their troopers are great.
I know Anovos failed, but I really liked that $250-$350 price point they had going for a while. I'll admit this $600+ business makes me turn to unlicensed sellers or DIY 3D printing.
Good tip on creating that "bubbly" scorch look. When you do your black wash over the helmet (water + acrylic paints mostly), while it's still covered and wet, hit the helmet with a few light hits of black spray paint from a rattle can. Then when you remove the excess it gives off a great bubbly scorch look pattern. ;)
I have the black series version. I appreciate your comments about the differences in quality and can see the differences between them. Curious on your thoughts on size differences. The visor looks a little larger on the new one and over all the new helmet appears a little wider…do you see that as well in person?
Thank you Matt! I agree that the Denuo Novo version at least appears wider, especially around the mohawk. It also looks more accurate because of it I would say when the two are next to one another.
Hi there! Thanks for the comparison Video. Anovos 1st order Stormtrooper still outstanding with me. They reached out a few month ago but no news since. Did you talk to them on celebration? I hope they deliver on their promise then I will purchasing again. Another thing: the video was great. Painting may differ from vendor to vendor but you can always repaint. The size and shape is what is most important in those comparisons. If you ever get the chance - break out a tape measure: would have been interesting to know the difference in width of the Mohawk. And the overall width of the helmet from ear to ear front to back. Even if it's just approximate. This gives everyone an excellent reference and even more viewers will visit your channel an frequently come back because you provide reference for those who cannot afford all versions of a prop. Keep up the good work and may the force be with you! 😊
Thanks for your super thoughtful comment! I imagine the FO armor is one of their biggest projects and while I too haven't heard much lately, I know it's high on their list to get it made. I should have at least one more pilot helmet on the way, so I'll try to remember to take some measurements when I do that review. Thanks again for watching!
Hey Charlie! I recommend picking up some stainless steel paper towel holders. I find mine often at places like TJ maxx, Marshalls, Home goods, and they range from $6-10. They can be found for $10-15 online.
I'm still waiting on the Patrol Trooper that I paid for in 2018. I heard once or twice from Deuno Novo and then silence. I'd love to get to the Celebration if just to talk to these people, but the airfare/ hotel/ rental car would more than negate the loss I've already been taken for. BTW, that Commander Gree...haven't searched your channel yet, but would love to know where that came from!!! That's one that's been on my list of must-haves! Thank you for the review!
The Patrol Trooper helmet is such a cool sculpt. I forgot they were even making those. I think they are sort of organizing production releases based off the numbers and the wait, so hopefully PT helmet is on the way, even if a bit delayed. If I see them at Celebration, I'll try to get a little more info. I think Gree was lucky eBay find many years ago!
That's one of the few rebel pilot helmets that I didn't PO back in the day. That was about when I started to assume I wasn't going to get any of these items.
I don't, but when I go to Galaxy's Edge here next month I'll check them out. I cannot confirm this, but I've heard they are either the Hasbro Black Series or so darn close that Hasbro must be making them too.
@@StarWarsCollected my TIE pilot, Biker Scout and Gunner are RS Propmasters. I really like them. And they have great quality. And the RS Stormtrooper is made of a RS Propmasters owned screenused stormtroopercostume.
Denuo Novo should do Wedge Antilles', Biggs Darklighter's, John D. Branon's, Jek Tono Porkins', Nozzo Naytaan's, Theron Nett's, Puck Naeco's, Dex Tiree's, Davish Krail's and many of the standard ones that is the one that is blue and white with a dark/black visor.
Now that they have the mold, they might as well right? Do some of the less popular ones in limited runs and make it seem extra special. Maybe a signed edition or something?
Thanks so much! I completely agree! The further I've gotten into this hobby the more I've realized that "accuracy" is always a sliding scale as there are typically multiple versions of props, and they all change between shots and movies.
The most impressive thing here is that they actually delivered the product.
RIGHT?!?! I still can't believe it's actually here... seems like it's just going to go ~POOF~ and disappear someday?
I prefer the Denuo Novo ones because they're exact as what you see in the films as well.
It's pretty good!

Great tip! I've seen that done before, but completely forgot about it!
Nice review! I'm happy to see Denuo Novo making things right with the collectors who were burned by Anovos.
Totally, it's a big relief to at least get one of my items... and there are movements on others so stay tuned!
@@StarWarsCollected Glad to hear it and look forward to your reviews!
@@MattsCollection Thanks Matt!
There have been posts on Facebook of some people receiving Anovos Star Trek items recently. Mostly pins from what I have seen.
Oh wow, I hadn't seen that! I'm quite shocked actually, I wonder what's going on there????

Cool video. I would love to see a tutorial how you make your 3d printed helmets.
Thanks Maconx! That's a video that I definitely need to do once it warms up here!

Where did you get the stands from?

I'm wanting to get a Denuo Novo Garven Dreis helmet. I'd actually prefer if it was him to destroy the 1st Death Star.

I like the black series one. The other one is cool and all but I don't think it would justify waiting four years for it.
I would agree with you! 4 years wait and over 3 times the cost... I'd recommend that Black Series over it for most collectors!
I love it. But the Black Series or Galaxy’s Edge helmets work for me
I'm with ya! Hasbro is such a great value!
I prefer RS. They also make great stuff.
For the price, they are pretty direct competitors now, and while I don't have any RS yet, I would probably say you are right.

@@torstensommer4319 Sounds like a great collection! those are all solid costumes!
You would have to enter the password which is a pain.
Despite being more detailed, sounds like 'too little, too late.'
I wish it had a bit more heft to it and if the Black Series didn't exist, I would have been more pleased, but Hasbro is delivering.

Just because before repainting it and buying decals from Etsy.
@@happyears21694 That's what I've been doing with black series helmets.
I wouldn't want to do Black Series Helmets because of the padding like for your ears and head, putting in batteries and the sound effects.
@@happyears21694 All of the batteries and buttons are pretty well hidden luckily. Makes them easy to repaint and DIY your own helmet.
GREAT REVIEW!! -for me, I would rather have 3 helmets at 95% accuracy over 1 helmet with 100% accuracy.
