Dude you're an IITian and that tag alone is enough for any company to hire you. My friend who graduated in mechanical engineering from a Tier3 college got hired by Infosys and later on by none other than Apple back in 2010.
Being in IIT does not mean you would 100% land a job. There are many IITian's who even after getting a degree from IIT are still jobless. What matters is your experience, projects, resume and most importantly your skills and knowledge.
Well well well he is rejected by 500 times. If what you said is 100 % true, then he needs only 1 time to get hired when in fact, he got rejected hundred times. Keep in mind, after he graduated he still worked as mechanical engineer for some times before switch into softwaee engineer. Plus he spent 5-6 hours every single day after his tired job as mechanical engineer to learn Software Engineer. Yall keep making excuses. Even you are from Harvard without putting the same effort you wont be able surprass him 😂
IIT didn't give him anything. He did Btech in Mechanical from IIT, tell me how that helps him in an IT field? He did all hardwork himself and did masters from US to get in there.

1.5 yrs may be 2 yrs with a persistent mindset. 6 months for learning all frontend tech and a tech of backend if needed. and prior to this you may learn python which you may think may be helpful in interviews. ok then after 6 months comes projects and implementation which is the real learning. Along with solving leetcode questions simultaneously. So around 1 yr of persistent studying one may get very good at html,css,javascript,react,leetcode,dsa oh i forgot dsa too. After this well another thing i forgot i.e to learn github which falls witjin this 1 year. so it will definitely take more 1 yr to be precise and to become little bit fluent. After this start applying for interviews in between till 1.5 yr mark. And if you're still getting rejected which won't happen if you have completely brushed up on fundamentals but still if it happens then focus on specific projects which has functionality and along with this continue solving leetcode questions.
