The Lemon Pledge scent is so weird, because it specifically smells like a meyer lemon, and they got the scent done so well that everyone associates the smell with the cleaner instead of the fruit. Making stuff with meyer lemons is difficult because people think of the cleaner first.

This is so true! My parents live in California and have a Meyer lemon tree in their yard, and the first time they sent me lemons I immediately thought they smelled like lemon pledge! LOL

It also lets me segue into the fact that all current consumer banana species are being threatened by a mold that's not only killing banana trees but also infecting the soil and making entire fields unable to yield any new banana crops for the foreseeable future. And so far as attempts to cure the mold have been unsuccessful. The only breeds of bananas currently known to be immune to the mold aren't suitable for consumption because the sees make up something like 70% of the fruit.(and I think some of them are actually toxic but don't quote me on that one.) If something isn't figured out soon, all banana breeds that are suitable for consumption could soon be extinct.
@@SesshouFan22 Yep and it's the same type of fungus that made the previous banana functionally extinct because they can't produce them in mass production anymore or they risk losing the last few stands of that species that managed to avoid infection when the rest were destroyed. And the reason that panama disease is such a huge concern is because commercial bananas are genetically identical so the fungus only has to figure out how to infect one individual and then it can just run rampant through the entire crop.

For lemon fragrances I love the Sunshine and Lemons from Bath and Bodyworks. I always use that in my kitchen as hand soap. I also think my daughter would love the soap kit!
I always like how honest your reviews are! And like you said, the kits are not cost effective, but you can reuse the mold so if you’re planning on that it brings the price of each bar down a bit as well. One of these days I’ll get the guts to do the Royal Academy and make some CP soap!
Absolutely love watching your videos!! One thing I wanted to add to your first analysis is that: Yes it is a bit pricey, but when you consider that the mold is reusable, and that you can cut the soaps into thinner bars, it helps to "spread out the price".
I used Watermelon sugar over the weekend! It is every watermelon bubblegum scent you have ever smelled and it actually slowed down trace in my batch so really helpful if you're doing a complicated design.
That's good to know. I've been afraid to try to make a watermelon soap because I've seen how fast it can accelerate/ rice. If this slows down trace a little that opens up a lot of possibilities.

Oh honey, I have sampled several of Brambleberry's lemon fragrances, and they are ALL amazing. I especially love "Lemon Bar" and "candied citrus" they are so luscious!
I got a kit similar to this from Hobbycraft in the UK. It was a blue and white two layer soap with a "sea spray" scent. The colour was liquid rather than blocks and the scent was actually more citrus than sea to me but it was a really good little kit. No "bits" to suspend and no alcohol spray but it was only £15 and made around six little bars. Lathered up lovely.
I think that is a fair price. They are giving you everything you need. Not a soap maker....but as an artist.....it costs a lot to get started with a new material/project. Plus..the quality!
I haven't tried the kits from bramble berry yet. I have used their fragrances and melt and pour/color blocks for easy soaps for stocking stuffers and they never disappoint!!!!

Katie, your videos are rad. Would you consider doing a tutorial on creating your own fragrance oil scent? I've got ideas, but there's an overwhelming amount of info out there and I struggle putting it together =p
This reminds me of the time we tried to make a 3 layered green, red, and white melt and pour soap for Christmas with my sister's kids but the colors we used didn't work properly (I think we used white instead of clear soap by mistake so the colors got messed up) Because of the layers breaking and mixing as well, the soaps ended up looking like watermelon soap but were scented with peppermint oil 😂
You should do a soap series based on your favorite songs or artists. And you could use the the watermelon one for Harry styles😏😂. A Taylor swift soap would be cool too, but I'd like to see what your favorite songs are and how you interpret them.

Honestly that $11.75 is a really good price! The soap I buy is $27 for a 3 pack, and that's before shipping and taxes and from how those bars look the ones I buy I'd say are only about 60% the size of those bars this kit makes! And for a watermelon scent, based on the way you reacted to it, $11.75 is an awesome price for those four big bars! Plus you get the fun of making it yourself and being able to tell people you made your own soap!

I love Brambleberry and I think they have amazing fragrances. However, I think their sample sizes are a little too pricey. They are typically $4 for only half an ounce, and as a non-professional soap maker, I typically only need 1-2 ounces of a fragrance to make an entire batch of soap for friends and family. They don't even have a 1 ounce size! When you compare to natures garden sample sizes at around $3 an ounce, it makes it hard to justify unless you KNOW that fragrance will be bomb. But I do love their products, just wish it were a little more reasonable in price for those who don't buy for production.
@@danielleking262 Not really my point. Once you get to the larger amounts ( 4 oz, 8 oz, 16 oz) the prices are pretty comparable between the brands. I just mean the sample sizes are overpriced for the amount and come in a less useful quantity for an amateur hobbyist soap and candle maker. I think both have great quality. I just wish Brambleberry were more reasonable in price for the sample size.
