Hello, my name is Jorday Rivera, and I am an expert in salsa. I own two dance studios in Queens, New York. We're going to be learning a progression of salsa moves so we can actually go out, practice, take it to the clubs, take it to a party, and you can show off all the great moves you learned. Now this is the basic Cuban step with styled. Let's go with music. Now this is the basic with the Cuban style. This is the break down. We're going to do a regular basic dip. Basic and one, two, three, five. We're gonna define, one, two, three. Your body, move your body, move your body. It's like you're brushing off your shoulders. Like you're telling somebody "Get off of me ok?". Five, six, seven. One, two, three. Five, six, seven. And start that again. Basic and one, two, three. Now really define okay? One, two, three. Frame and arch your body. And drop, open up, drop, open up, drop and basic two, three. Five, six, seven. That's the basic step with a Cuban styled. - Навчання та стиль

This needs to be removed from youtube and howcast and the person who uploaded needs to do fact checking because this is not cuban salsa but rather a NYC salsa imitation of cuban. They're dancing on2 for god's sake!
This is called the "cuban step" in NYC on 2 salsa. So she isn't lying or wrong, it just isn't clear to those who don't know the style.

All the haters, inform yourself first, she never says is Cuban salsa, there are several shines or moves without Partner that are call "Cubans" and it's salsa on 2 or New York style. So quick to criticize without even know what you're talking about, she did a beautiful job showing the shines.

To write Cuban and then dance on 2 is not really intelligent. You should write for the video titel cuban basics integrated in on 2 salsa or something like that.
All beginners will be confused if not when they go to a cuban party!

I don't want to be rude because this is a nice tutorial, however, it isn't actually salsa cubana. This is a "basic" as she points out, but the "open/together" is a rumba.

This woman never said this is cuban salsa ,she wrote salsa step "cuban styled" I have seen this before, it is not cuban salsa .. It is just 1 of hundreds of shines (possible more) that is named "cubans" , I do something like this and the next step that comes after this is the "cuban charge" ,and a "cuban strut" which are also just shines... Id say she did a wonderful job and she looks fantastic with her moves ..

For people in the comments who are confused about the name of the step I guess: this step is a "shine" danced as part of NY style salsa-on-2 and it is known as "The Cuban". The name is meant to reflect some stylistic Cuban influences I suppose, but it's not a Rumba step or a Cuban salsa step. I repeat, It's a NY Salsa-on-2 "shine" named "The Cuban". It's understandable if you were confused by this as a dancer of Cuban salsa or of Rumba, but please no more, now that it's been cleared up.
Melissa Louidor this actually is the basic step from the guaguanco/yambu, which are both forms of rumba.

for everyone complaining about the speed of the video...there is a such thing as the PAUSE button. you should try it, it works great! i paused it between each set of steps to work on my footing and such. i learned it rather quickly. but if you just get frustrated you will never learn

THE NAME OF THE MOVE IS is Cuban Step (probably because it originally comes from cuban rumba/guaguanco).
