Very helpful video. I am currently a Smart EQ4 owner and have had issues with grouping in my Studio One DAW. I was able to fix the issue (sometimes) by turning off my vpn. Not sure why those two things directly affect each other, but it helped me. On another note, Since I mainly record vocals in home studio (bedroom), Smart De-esser has been a life saver. Its fast, and makes it easy.
I think Sonible just needs to iron out some of the stability kinks. Their entire Smart suite has great potential. However, the constant bugs and instability means that many musicians (including me) will opt for other options, especially when working on critical mixes.
On a trackpad you two finger press and it will pull up the menu for dynamic on pro q 3. So it's not really an extra click unless youre using an old mouse.
If you deal with bad lagging or just freezing, say in Ableton while using multiple smart EQs.. switch to integrated graphics instead of nvidia. Can do it in the nvidia control panel, and have it where itll only go to integrated in ableton in the programs setting. can stack them up now, and its super smooth
Just use default preset in SmartEQ4 with deactivated high/low cut + high/low shelf, done. Pro-Q 3 → click Opt (Mac) and drag the band up or down to make it dynamic, done. (Maybe with two fingers on the trackpad. It goes so intuitively I don't even know what I'm clicking any more.)
Hey - I was referring to seeing the frequency masking/overlap of other channels that have Smart:EQ, not the individual analyzer. Sonible gives you the group feature whereas Pro Q3 gives you a visual of the signal of other channels that have Pro Q3 and where masking is happening. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
It’s transparent like Pro-Q 3. You’d generally use these for sculpting the sound rather than making it “musical” by giving it an overall tone or saturation like a Pultec would.
@InspiredWithAC Kirchoff is topnotch just like Fabfilter Pro-Q. Just add it to your Eq collection if you don't have it or make it available next on your wishlist of quality Eqs. UVI's Shade Eq is another mention also for crazy filtering automation effects!
Yup I flagged them as favorite. And then the screen just went back and forth. Then i just left it like that without putting anywhere just "starred" them in the list of vst and it was working. Dragging them manually in a folder is also ok. The plug in still has issues when opening but when you close or open it again then its working ok
Good to know. Are you using version 1.0.0? I’m having other UI instability issues since upgrading to 1.0.1. The analyzer doesn’t work 95% of the time, regardless which daw I use. I don’t know how big the Sonible dev team is, but hopefully they iron out these kinks soon.
@@InspiredWithAC Yes 1.0.0. Ow didnt even knew there's 1.0.1. I also noticed that it's important to already categorize the sounds. Or it will malfunction. My fl studio set up is already categorized too. Meaning: My mixer track is named. And then ofc the putting playlist: Track 1 - track mode - audio track. The only issue remains it doesn't show immediately. So i have to close and open. And then it works properly. It's very frustrating paying 300€ for the bundle and things don't work. The smartgate plug in has issues too. That one i dont use. Edit: I did get a reply(just some reply, not a solution) on instagram. So maybe making them aware there too is optionable. Another plug in that has some difficulties is Triaz. People are going after it. Bought mine weak ago. Great vst but when exporting the sound it has cracks, clips and distortion.
Oh man, that’s brutal. Regarding the upgrade, the plugin doesn’t tell you there’s a new version. Their website doesn’t even tell you. You have to go into your account on their site and re-download. Their zip file has the version number. Don’t upgrade to 1.0.1 though! It’s even more unstable, unfortunately.
Nice! I still find myself going to ProQ as the default. I think the issue is unique to my cpu (Intel) and gpu (Gtx 2060), but experiencing instability with the GUI really put me off the EQ4. I check every now and then to see if there’s an update from Sonible.
100% agreed, unless you’re doing sound design. Especially if you’re automating filters. But for general EQ, I don’t think most will need to go beyond 4 or 5.
I bought Smart Limiter some years ago hoping it was going to be an incredible limiter. Boy was I wrong, never gonna buy anything from that company again *haha*
Anything in particular, if you don’t mind me asking? Was it high expectations for the “smart” features? I personally didn’t care much for those but I’ve been disappointed about the overall stability and constant bugs.
@@InspiredWithAC The GUI is kinda great to be honest but I did not fall for how it sounds. I don´t own many limiters but I like Ozones limiter way better to my ears. I have also listened to Pro-L2 limiter and that also sounds really great.
@@michaelhonormusic really? i just did a comprehensive test with the smart limit and pro l2 for the past few days and every time again and again i found that i like the sonible a bit more, and in terms of gui i actually like the fabfilter more. i have the oxford limiter too and i think the smart limit is more transparent between those 3. i am curious to know why you say that?
@@Lennie_peled You should stick to what you like, trust your ears. To me L2 and Ozone sounds more musical and can be pushed harder (not that you should drive a limiter to much) before it starts to sound distorted.

Whats the music playing at 11:40?

06:33 it has that. look for word ANALYSER and click onto the triangle dropdown menu selector

does it sound as good as fab filter though?
It’s transparent like Pro-Q 3. You’d generally use these for sculpting the sound rather than making it “musical” by giving it an overall tone or saturation like a Pultec would.
@@InspiredWithAC thanks
I use these four EQs for different things for mixing... Fabfilter Eq, Smart Eq4, TB Equalizer Pro and Kirchoff Eq.
How’s Kirchhoff? I debated buying it last year but ended up passing on it.
@InspiredWithAC Kirchoff is topnotch just like Fabfilter Pro-Q. Just add it to your Eq collection if you don't have it or make it available next on your wishlist of quality Eqs. UVI's Shade Eq is another mention also for crazy filtering automation effects!

Waiting for the Pro Q 4 vs Smart EQ 4 bro
This week. 😁
I prefer smart EQ 4 over Fabfilter Pro. Never used FF since I got sEQ4

If you need more than 2-4 normal filters (other than mid-side nodes), you need to re-record the track.
