I love your paintings. Can you tell us a little about yourself? What country do you live in? Is painting your profession? If so, What kind of painting do you do professionally? How old are you? Are you male or female? How long have you been painting? How did you learn to paint so good? Is watercolor painting your favorite medium? At what age did you start painting?
We are all so impressed with your beautiful artwork and your skill as an artist, we would just like to know and understand more about you. I am not trying to find out personal details of your life. I would just like to know your story as an artist, and I believe most of your viewers would like to know that also. Of course, it would be nice to know if you are married, and if you have children, but the most important things we would like to know concerns your art. Your art reminds me of children's illustrations in storybooks, which is one of my favorite areas of art. I first became attracted to art from a large storybook filled with different stories and lessons for young children, and the artwork was by Richard Scarry who became one of my all time favorite artists. I carried that with me from childhood but did not give it any thought through my teenage years and into my young adulthood. Then as an adult my husband worked at an antique auction and I just feel in love with the vintage and antique children's books, and their style of artwork. The illustrations from decades ago were just so appealing and beautiful. Much more appealing than most of the modern day illustrations you see in children's books. And I just organically began to collect children's antique books, and especially the ones with really good illustrations done by artist that I had become to recognize as being the best in the 18th century and into the 19th century. My house burned down about 3yrs ago, and I lost everything, and of course I lost my wonderful book collections, I also collected vintage cookbooks and other types of books besides children's books. I really miss thumbing through those cheery nostalgic children's books and their wonderful illustrated artwork. Your beautiful artwork reminds me of those great children's books illustrators and the astounding work they produced.

I agree with you, there are children books with illustrations so vivid, so well thought with lots of details. I remember the pleasure of watching them like million times, making them come to life in your head, breathe, move... a whole new other world in a picture!
Oh, and the great amount of modern books are pure artistic disappointment with generic pictures that show no soul and no taste.
I am sorry for the fire that take your books away from you.

Ruth Park I believe it’s watercolors and he’s adding a Chinese white watercolor to get some of the more opaque effects, but not really sure, maybe both, would love to hear from him what he used, as it’s beautiful painting.
I came for the glowy mushrooms, I stayed for the incredible art.

It is so crazy how you can paint with water color so easily. Whenever I try it spreads all over the place. It’s cool how you can make the moon look like it’s actually glowing. Very nice for me to watch!
And most importantly he only uses watercolor for the background lol, so 80% of the painting isn't watercolor
You have to let watercolor layers dry fully before painting on top of them. Many watercolor artists will use a hairdryer to speed up the process
Same here, I tried a watercolor volcano, but couldn't get the lava to glow like that. Then I read in the description that poster paint was used. So something more opaque to go over the watercolor is how they get the glowing, the eyes in the bushes and mushrooms lit up. Very nice effects. Mixed media I would say
@@recoveringsoul755 if you want to make glow effects with only watercolor you need to keep the paper white where you want the glow effects, so that the white of the paper contrasts with the darker parts of your piece, it will look like there's something shiny!
Maybe if you let the watercolour dry before putting on different paint? That would keep it from running 😊😊

@@RainRemnant is it really lack of ideas? For me it has been years and then I paint something once in a very long while when I finally have time for it. Some people tell me "oh you can always find time for that!" Well, no! Not in my case. I would have to stop my entire life - literally everthing I am doing - to get back to what I used to draw and paint. Once I start I don't even get to sleep so addicted as I am once I hold a brush. I don't have any feeling of time. For me an entire day becomes a couple of hours... ehm, this is serious. It's terrible and it's so bad for me. But I need to work, you know, so I had to give up art. I don't know how to manage this.

Do you plan out your paintings or let them develop organically as you go
Half and half. You always need some sketch or planning but you need to enjoy happy accidents with watercolor, that's its charming with this technique. The least intuitive technique is gouache

Absolute magic. Warm, thoughtful and touching. Watching you paint this was like watching a whole story unfold in front of my eyes. It's a perfect illustration for children. As a kid I used to spend hours looking at illustrations in my books. If I saw this as a child, I wouldn't leave my room for a month!

Wow is this out of imagination ? I used to have a lot of imagination like you but now when I’m older it seems it gets lower due to watching tv and all that. Can you advise me on how to reset my imagination once agin?
