Tow ball height is adjustable. There are different height hitches that have different amounts of raise/drop that you can get for the hitch receiver. Some even have variable amount of raise/drop. This is used to compensate for different trailer heights.

The best system for hauling stuff on top of the load bed is a load rated tonneau cover. The Diamondback HD cover is rated at 1600 lbs and has many different accessories that can be attached for whatever you want to do. It is easily one man removable. Renegade also has a cover rated at 2,000lbs, but wait times are long. Systems that support cargo over the bed on a rack are available, but pay close attention to the weight ratings. Many manufacturers will quote a weight and you have to look at the fine print to find out that the rated weight is only available while the vehicle is not moving and a much lower weight is quoted for dynamic loads. Hope this helps.
I find it funny that you would refer to the Ranger as massive. It is considered to be a mid-size here in North America and there are two other pickup segments that are bigger (full size pickup - F150 and Ram/GM 1500, large pickup - F250/350/450 pickup and Ram/GM 2500/3500). All of the larger pickups have more interior volume which makes them less of a compromise when compared to something like a Range Rover. The back seat in a F150 and up (same cab on F150 through F600) actually has quite a bit more space than a long wheelbase Range Rover. The small gas/petrol engines use a lot more fuel once you start working them. The Ranger Raptor is somewhat neutered in Europe, so the acceleration is not typical of what you would see in the rest of the world. I'm also assuming that your fuel economy is as low as it is due to your average speed being quite low and the percentage of time that you have been towing. As something to compare to, I have an F450 (just over 9,000lbs/4.1mt empty) with a 6.7L high output diesel. Average fuel mileage when not towing is around 18 miles per US gallon/22.5 mpg imperial combined (20 mpusg/25 mpg imperial on highway at 60 mph). Towing a 2t caravan wouldn't really change that number much, but my 7t 30' long enclosed car hauler drops me to around 14 mpg US (tow rating is 30,000 lbs conventional, 32,000lbs on a bed mounted hitch). 0 to 60 acceleration in the F450 is around 6.5 seconds when empty.
I traded my 2022 Ranger Sport V6 diesel for a 2024 Ranger Raptor and even though the Raptor is way sportier with excellent noises from all of the different modes, one thing that is bad with the Raptor is the fuel usage, it literally uses triple the litres per 100ks than the V6 diesel, but it is better
I get 20 MPG towing my loaded trailer and 20+ MPG towing my 27ft twin axel caravan. I get about 35+ MPG on a long run without towing. I tow about half the time and my overall MPG is just over 25 MPG this includes lots of short journeys. I have a 4.4 twin turbo diesel L322.
@@bobbydwheelhouse Nothing wrong with the correct Land Rover. I have had several over the years, not very many cars could take the punishment I have given them and still be running. To be fair though not off road much with this one except to tow around competition sites with my car on the trailer.
2 big pluses on your truck, no DPF and no add blue, I am still pondering one, I do have a Golf GTI clubsport as my daily driver. How much is a years road tax on the truck.
Would you ever get a Land Rover Discovery again have I been in a Discovery lately which is the three litre version hse luxury and you don't need to wear a microphone record their cloth and the handheld device and you get pulled over the polce and get arrested
I’m sorry but you went from a disco 5 to a Ford and it struggles to tow heavy loads and gets 18 MPG and you are selling this asap positive 😃, is this a paid advert for Ford?! If you had gotten a decent Range Rover you’d get better mpg, better towing, better comfort and an all round better car. I’m sorry I don’t mean to be rude but I can’t watch you trying to convince me this is a great car! Isn’t petrol really expensive in the UK?
There is no such a thing as a decent Range Rover - They are all horribly overpriced and unreliable. Id sooner push a Ranger up and down the road than waste any amount of money on a Range Robber 🙂
@@mprinsgsxr ok, so firstly no one is asking you to spend you’re hard earned money on one but that doesn’t mean they are unreliable. I’ve had these vehicles 6 years now and I’ve never been left stranded. I’ve had 2 new golf’s that left me at the side of the road though. So I’m not sure if you’ve ever owned one, I’d be curious to know. If you haven’t then push your ranger, if you have and had back luck well then that sucks and sorry to hear. Me, I’ve just done maintenance and haven’t had an issue. My two land rovers/range rovers have nearly 500,000km done between them. I have a Pajero outside which I love that needs a new engine, so even the japs get it wrong sometimes As for overpriced, yes and no. The build quality of the Discovery 3 is incredible. The Range Rover I have is an old girl she’s 2012 and it drives like new so I guess if you buy first day, just like a merc, a bmw, or high end car the first few years the depreciation is sick. That said, buy one used, do your homework and you can get a stunning car But, all that said, no once is asking you to buy one, no pear pressure here. Buy and drive what you love and any car guy will respect that. The main thing is we all love cars..
The D5 the Doctor owned was an early model and had a 2 litre diesel that was underpowered for such a big vehicle. The 3 litre v6 was more powerful although a minority have suffered crank failures. The D5 with the 3 litre straight 6 seems to be a good vehicle and although expensive you get in life what you pay for. That’s what he should have traded the D5 - 2 litre for. Having driven poor mpg vehicles the novelty of the v6 or v8 petrol engine/power soon wears off and you spend inherent amount of time at filling stations, which becomes a chore. It is all about choice however, so I will watch and see how this pans out 👍🏻
@@Mr_Springy also him reviewing it after a few hundred miles seems a bit premature. The ranger will never compare to a good Land Rover for build quality or comfort. Thanks for the info on the D5 engines, I run the 4.4TDV8 and the 2.7 and both are solid but you just have to do maintenance. I must do a bit of research on that D5 engine you mentiomed
No issue with an early review or providing first impressions including mpg for example. Not sure why the Dr needs to keep referring back to the D5 as a comparator as the Raptor isn’t a like for like. The Doc just needs to judge it as to what it offers, as it seems to fit his lifestyle better than a D5 in some respects. The 6 cylinder engine has been fitted since 2020/21 and I haven’t heard of any major issues with this. However, most won’t have clocked up huge mileages yet, so only time will tell. I have heard of significant issues with the Eco boost engines that run wet belts, not sure if that applies to the Raptor though. Ultimately you pay your money you make your choice. I hope it works out for the Dr and having a different vehicle to a Land Rover could make for interesting content.

Just recently went from a Range Rover to the Ford Maverick pickup. I’m really enjoying it so far, especially the extra MPG!

I have 2024 Ford Raptor and recommend Thule roof racks. Thule has endless list of attachment options and the quality and usability is excellent.
...correction: Ford Ranger Raptor.
Nice I’ll check it out. Thanks for the advice 👌🏻👌🏻
Furthermore, in Thule you have option to "one key" locking system, if you get multiple attachments: bike rack, kayak, ski, etc.
Vehicle looks fantastic but the running cost would cripple me! Guess the Road tax and insurance is quite costly too!
These look amazing, I considered one of these before buying my puma 90... cheers for the video

Good points - road tax is about £370 as it’s classed as a commercial
Flatdog at Gainsborough awesome roof raxs
Interesting takes on the Raptor, looking forward to more videos 👍
I'd love to see it with a lift kit and some 37s on it,
I couldn’t get in a parking space the other day as a raptor wouldn’t fit in the one it was in!
That’s a big layout and on cost to pick-up a balloon! 🎈🤣
Great looking Truck and it sounds so good too👍
Nice it's it better than the land rover discovery 5 have you tried the Samsung s24 ultra the camera is better than the iPhone cameras
