I'm back with another (semi-chaotic) vlog, which is moving into Yale!! I'm so sorry it's been so long since I uploaded, but life has been moving so fast and while it's been wonderful to get to do so many things I've dreamed of, it definitely took me a while to get time to sit back and share my life with you all again. Yeah the Yale dorms are very irregular in size. Some of them are 2times the size of others…..I went to YYGS and stayed in a cell with a leaky ceiling for 2 weeks… but what an amazing transformation! Lots of love from Shanghai!
I want to ask you a question about YYGS. Would you recommend that I apply for early action or regular action?

@@Amr-ff8ozAnother yygs student here, I must say if you aren’t 100% in love with yygs, then apply regular. If you get accepted ea you have 2 weeks to confirm your attendance and it essentially backs you into a corner to say yes in the middle of December. Of course I don’t regret going to yygs but I wish I could’ve had the time to apply to more programs/consider my options.
@@irisliu2796 hey i've been planning to apply into yygs...so it'd be really helpful if you could guide me with your experience there with the curriculum, fees, etc and if it was all worth it. Also did you apply as an international student?
@@AnvitaShukla-gf2ic I was not international, but there were A LOT of international students (maybe around 25% of the student body was international). The curriculum depends on the track. I did IST and a lot of the lectures/seminars I attended really widened my scope of science knowledge and I bet the other tracks are eye-opening as well. Honestly the experience will only be worth it if you are willing to try your best and grasp as many opportunities as possible. It is a high price for less than 2 weeks, but I made some great friends and had and overall great experience.
dude the beds being that close is criminal why did the university design the room like that? the beds are damn near touching LMAO.
Because (Yale grad here.... ) there used to be bunk beds in the rooms.
When I was at Yale, (Vanderbilt Hall on Old Campus/ Branford College) the beds were on top of each other. There was one desk in the bedroom and the other desk was in the common room/ 4 first year students to a suite.) That didn’t make the rooms huge, but with bunks, there was much more floor space than that.

for Yale being an Ivy League I would expect the rooms to be bigger but that common room is stunning

Some people will move the bed into the common room for more space! I’ve seen where people put up a curtain so that they still have a sense of privacy, even though they’re in the common room

I feel like it is pretty inhumane to put late teens/early adult hood people living in a room like that. I personally could never as a very non social person and person that needs their own space to unwind in.😡 but again it is just an arranging question, someone is having a bigger Xmas dinner instead of students actually having a home near school. Smh

University of Yale, more like university of Jail - the room looks like a prison cell 🥲... I hope you get a nice roomy. That is so sh*t by Yale to squeeze you in like that. Neither of you will have any privacy, you'd think a top university like that would have better dorm rooms.

For a lot of people it's their first time away from friends and family. A roomy can actually help with homesickness.
@lianevoelker9845 sure, but not in such a tiny space! There is barely walking space between their beds!! Personally I would have felt worse living that close to someone I don't know than being on my own.

That dorm room is atrocious considering you're paying for that space and it's essentially going to be your home for at least a year. Those beds are just far too close but you did what you could. It's just a shame that the rooms at Yale are so inconsistent and aren't more optimised for students comfort and privacy better considering you're paying for an ivy league education.

Usually in many countries, the year you finish your college is what class/batch you're in, so she's finishing Yale in 2027 so she's the class/batch of 2027. Hope that helps!
