This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit". Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
She had 48h! to prepare for this gig in Wacken! Actually stillTarja was setted for this Open Air- but she left! [O.k she had 2littleprobeconcerts end of 2012 with Nightwish- that was it!] Phenomenal!!!❤
Windmill. Early in her career Floor was getting a lot of neck pain from normal headbanging so she consulted a Physiotherapist. Between them they worked out that the windmill was the least harmful method. You will note she braces her hands on her thighs and uses her shoulders to help with the movement rather than just using her neck.
The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible Absolutely kickass. Jukka in Beast Mode on the drum kit…Everyone performing at the very highest level….as usual🤘
Besides the Showtime Storytime DVD (aka Wacken 2013) there are these other Nightwish DVDs with Floor, as well: Vehicle of Spirit (Wembley 2015 and Tampere 2015) Decades Live (Buenos Aires 2018) Live in a Virtual World (2021) So you have several potential future live streams
Well, if that's not the voice of Never Neverland, I don't know what else is. Jesus, her presence alone is unbelievably breathtaking. Goddess amongst humans.
When we bought our tickets for WOA/NW, it's important to remember - WOA sells out a year in advance. This means that the lead singer for NW at that time was Anette Olzon. Anette was fired in 2012. NW had to find someone to finish the tour through 2013. That was Floor Jansen. Later that year, she and Troy were made permanent band members. Okay, before other people jump all over you, a "W" in German is pronounced like we say a "V". Also many Germanic based languages pronounce a "J" like a "Y". Floor means "flower". The "a" in Jansen probably is closer to how we say the "a" in "father". I could be wrong - others can roast me.
as a headbanger myself she has absolutely beautiful long hair in some that live footage especially the stuff where she had been with the band for that first year 2012-13 that long flowing hair of hers really helps alot and with the proper care yeah

The smile on your face as you bounce around reacting to this song says it all: it’s Nightwish! You cannot help but feel good after listening to this song. Such an amazing version of it and so good for a live performance. Keep up the great work. Greetings from the NW Army (Sydney, Australia Division). 🇦🇺🤘
Great reaction! Floor has worked with a physiologist or a physical therapist to perfect her posture for her windmilling so that it doesn't cause any physical problems. This song is from their Imaginaerium album, a concept album based on an old composer on his death bed relieving the memories of his life. One of Tuomas's favorite topics or themes in his music is lost innocence. As a poet and artist Tuomas values the sense of wonder and imagination that innocent children have. In Storytime the composer is remembering the joy he got from childhood tales, thus the references to Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland (Tuomas often uses literary references in his lyrics and as inspiration for songs). It is through these childhood stories that we discover ourselves and who we are (I am the story that will read you real). Song is inspired by an animated Christmas movie, The Snowman, that is very popular in Britain and Finland. Storytime" was born when Tuomas wondered why no-one had made a remake of the film, and pondered on what his version of the score to the scene in which "Walking in the Air" plays would sound like. To quote Tuomas ""How would it feel to take a midnight flight with a snowman through the most wondrous landscapes, like in the classic animated Yuletide film? The meaning of our very existence is created though stories, tales and imagination. They are at the very core of humanity." Walking on the Air is a very popular Christmas song in the UK and Finland and Nightwish did a beautiful cover of it with their first singer Tarja that is worth reacting to. ua-cam.com/video/9icKP1b44TA/v-deo.htmlsi=yKJxqgjazUHD7Efe.
Ha, yes, the windmill. everyone asks this question, and the answer is found in Floor's Utube channel. She has a video that explains the correct stance and style for doing it correctly so you do not injure yourself. Floor also has many other fun videos on the channel dealing with many subjects.
Many (not all) of the DVDs for this concert are in non-US format. BUT MANY DVD/BluRay players are region-free, meaning they can play any DVD, etc. And these days, region-free player are inexpensive (not back 15 years ago). The technique for windmilling is relatively simple, BUT I'm no longer giving lessons in the comments of YT. But a very general list of basic elements might include : -neck near parallel to the ground, bend at the waist, -one leg a bit forward (stable platform), knees slightly bent - hands on the top of your thighs. - RELAX, go slow, small circles, and stop BEFORE becoming dizzy - NEVER go to the boundary/limits of flexion. ... I'm not going to go into neck technique ... that's where it really helps to have a inhouse observer... someone who knows head/neck mechanics. Contraindications might include (but are not limited to) : existing neck/shoulder/spine problems; GERD, Barrett's Esophagus, existing tendency towards aspiration, incontinent cardiac/top-of-stomach sphincter, balance problems, ear infection/placement of drainage tubes/obstructed Eustachian tubes, orthostatic hypotension, untreated/uncontrolled hypertension loose ear buds, headphones that you value dearly, and, well, ill-fitting clothing may get you more attention than you wish. Blind Doc Jones - Honorary member of the Nightwish Triage Team and Mosh Pit search and rescue crew, PNW Division (I missed seeing Floor's second NW concert (in Portland) by just a coincidence or two... still kicking myself for that one)
Since you already plan on checking out more NW (yay!) - You might value checking out Amaranthe. The lead female singer was once considered to replace on of the fired singers of NW. Maybe start with a song called "True"
the song is from the Nightwish film Imaginaerum which you can watch the full film here on youtube at this link..It has all the band members in even Troy..ua-cam.com/video/FhZxNGJYcF8/v-deo.html
Get the blu ray of this concert. What's shown is so wore out! It's not a headbang. Since floor is from the Netherlands, it's called a windmill. She puts her hands on her legs and supports herself.
Nightwish at Wacken 2013 is the most amazing live concert I have ever seen by any band. Pure magic from start to finish.

Excellent analysis.
You can see her technique so well in the live video of Tribal in slow-motion. I love that part of the video.
Perfect posture, windmilling is a stationary move
The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible

7 Days To The Wolves live at Wembly
So that was our Valkyrie Queen.
As far as I know, the DVD is region 2 only. That said, there is a setting on computer DVD drivers that allows you to change the region for playback.
👍👍An awesome performance by Nightwish. 🖖❤
Check out Shoemaker live at Hellfest
Imaginaerum - album, movie and wine! All worth checking out!.... before their new album is released!
New album! Really! Hopefully, there will be a tour, and I want to check them out live!
@@YourFavoriteReactionChannel Yes the band is working for a new album.

"How does she do that?" - Because she is a fucking professional at what she does, that's how.
Lol so true!
Did you see the Time Traveller at the clapping stage in the crowd in blue with a hat ????

Did that one man in the crowd (who's wearing a denim jacket and a white hat) come into a wrong festival? 😂
"How does she do that?"
Lassie, a little web-searching will find her doing it while VERY pregnant!
No other metal band in history has a better song than this Wacken 2013 "Storytime" version.
