Loved that video! Having taught my 3 kids and countless other kids and adults it was fun to see how others do it. One thing we do when someone has a momentous first is a dog pile. When the rider first falls after the newly achieved feat, the boat pulls in close to the downed rider, we all yell dog pile, and everyone (but the driver) jumps in near the rider and high fives, fist bumps, dunks them ... celebrating gloriously in the water with them. Unsuspecting first timers are always thrilled - whether they are riders or dog pilers. 😎👍 Cheers!

Great Video with a cool way to help beginners feel comfortable! I started wakeboarding in 2004, then had sold my boat, brother moved away with his boat, and only got on my wakeboard a few times, saving to get my boat, which I did this year. Feels great to be back on the lake and flying over the wake! Nice work on the ivory too!
Shaun is such a great ambassador for the sport. At a pro wakeboard event outside Atlanta, Shaun went boat to boat taking pictures with everyone including my kids which was huge since they ride on his boards.

We're struggling to get our 4 year old up. He is just pulled over the board even going slow. Should I try riding next to him like you are doing and hold his vest? How do you explain turning the board when she was ready?

Hi Shaun I also have a 5yo daughter, who, on watching this video. Has decided she wants to have a go behind the boat... What size board was she riding and what speed was the boat going? Did you ride a bigger board than usual to be able to assist at slower speeds? I just don’t want my daughter to get scared and for her to have a fun positive experience first time out.
All good questions Stephen. I rode my 139 (5''6" 150) and she was on the Hyperlite Murray Jr. Boat speed is about 11 when she's riding so I'm kinda feeling it but nothing near impossible. It's all about small steps to make them feel confident. I think you're missing a lot. Not everyone expresses enthusiasm the same way. Liv has always been very reserved and stoic, at least on camera. She is obviously trying hard to do something difficult that she has avoided for a while, that speaks volumes.

It's the Hyperlite Murray Jr (girls version) 120. I find it's the best size for most kids to start.
