This is inspiring. The thing I notice with evangelism is that the primary emphasis is on the first part of the gospel which is forgiveness but I don't hear a lot of evangelists talk about the purpose for being saved. Having a purpose is what gives us a reason to want to live and persevere. It gives us a reason to hope in the resurrection.
I think we need to also stress following Jesus. The rich young man wanted to go to heaven, as many do. As you know the young man didn't want to let go of his wealth. He probably did charity as a law abiding Jew. He kept the religious laws. But he was literally standing in front of the Kingdom of God who is Jesus. In other words he wanted heaven but not Jesus in front of him. He probably had seen Jesus' wise teachings and probably His miracles. The rich young man missed the point of salvation - nearness to God. It seems he had kept most the law to that point. Jesus did not criticize him on this except to share/give all of his wealth with the poor. But ALSO,. Jesus said to follow Him; be with God
Love this!! Me and my husband used to take new believers in to our home and get them jobs etc thank you so much I needed this encouragement to get back into it!!

Peter's formula was "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
