5:37 What this man is saying here is a huge key to true happiness and meaning in life IMO. "Many people want to show off their nice things-their gold. But gold is boring and does nothing. With my kind of gold (vinyl records) it is fun because it sings to me and makes me happy". Finding value in what makes you happy when you can tune out all external social pressures, is the closest to complete happiness I have ever found.
I was a DJ in my past life 20+ years ago in the early 2000s. I’ve never been to HK and it’s great to know record stores like these exist there. As a Canto born in the U.S., hearing uncle speaking my mother tongue and showing his passion brought joy. Thanks for showing another side of the world that not many like me know about. Keep up the excellent work, Gia. 👏
I haven't been this happy to see something in a while. I love your playlists and wish to one day dance to them live. Now you're giving us a glimpse into your travels. Keep doing this when you can, please?🫀
Paul is awesome, Paul is Gold, Paul is my new best friend! Love to see older music still alive, i do feel music was more alive back in the days. Not many can do that anymore. You are one of the blessed few, thanks for sharing!
Afro-Latin and Asian create one hell of a flavour when blended right, whether that's in tastes or sounds. I'm always glad when I see there's others who know the same.
Wow. I am not a record collector, but seeing all these little, packed to the rafters shops with music I never heard of is just uttler fascinating. Thanks for taking us along, Gia.
That smile ! Thanks for the amazing music and dope content! It’s my Saturday morning routine to put on one of your mixes and read with a cup of coffee. Cheers, Gia! ☕️
such a great video, thank you for sharing I love the concepts you shared about music, the records being a collection of memories from the past, and the black gold
Keep doing good work I hope you make more mini blogs like this one I enjoy learning about other people culture as well ❤

Gia que hermoso tu video, lo amé. Siento que viajé contigo jaja que divertido. Gracias por los subtítulos en español! Haz más así, son muy interesantes! Saludos desde Uruguay ❤ siempre escucho tus videos 😊
Thank you for posting this video. It was awesome listening to the music in the background! I've never been to Hong Kong so it was nice to get a never-before-seen perspective of the city.
You did better than I did. I was there 3 wks ago and could not find Paul (spoke to him a few years ago) or his store. I ran into White Noise which was all new records and then another place that was closed but right around the corner from that was Ho Records which was great! I talked to the owners through Translate and she was thrilled that I was looking for erhu (it was called something different in a Cantonese so it took a while lol). I got a few records and CDs, they hooked me up good with Chinese Classical and Fung Hang and Art-Tune type items (shamisen, koto, etc). I didn't have enough time to get a thorough glance of their items, it would have taken days due to the language. I did not see any street record vendors but a lot of used electronics (and amazing fruit stores, the durian was crazy bulging OMG). I found HK to generally quite expensive which was no surprise but a lot more expensive for records than I'd pay in US and not much of what I was looking for (ironically many specialized in western rock and roll which is exactly what I did not want). Not sure I'd go to HK again unless I won a trip on TPIR but it was very enjoyable. I take it I missed the boat by not seeing Mr. Paul.
As an American, I found this very informative on the vibes on the street in the little slice you showed us. Very cool! Not something I have really seen before. You shot this beautifully as well with great editing! Thank you for sharing we don't normally get alot of vlog/behind the scenes content from music-focused channels on here.
LOL, So, I got a random recommendation from UA-cam earlier today, I started playing it as I was doing some stuff on my laptop and noticed that this Asian-looking girl was playing them, and dancing to them, so I thought, oh, this Latina girl is lovely and was impressed by her repertoire but then again, I thought she was somewhere in Latin America so wasn't so impressed. Now that I see this video, she is not only NOT Latina (Nice moves), but she is located in Hong Kong? Wow, I can now see how much dedication you have to Latin American music. I am not unsure if all the vinyl records you have are about salsa or Latin music, but for sure, you seem to love that music. Take care and Keep it Going!
Loveeeee u Gia, what a Pearl of gold I founded with ur channel. I hope u keep it the great vibe. I'm from Colombia, the salsa culture here is great, u should try listen to it!!!
Thank you so much for sharing the record shop info!!!!! I visited HK a long time ago and I wasn't into records back then..now I definitely will go check it out if I ever visit HK again! It is so, so awesome to see this..Oh BTW I hope you got the chance to go karaoke while in HK, it's good to brush up your singing skills haha
Your one amazing woman, you have a great ear for good salsa music! You know how to keep the flow of music going. I fallow your UTUBE video all the way from Wichita Kansas U.S.A keep the great video's coming 🙏🙋♂️
I stepped into a shop in NY about 2011 and noticed a pile of Chinese pops records. Bought them all. I didn't even own a record player ; ) Fixed that as soon as I got home. Wong Shiau Chuen, Teresa Teng, Yuya. Just fell in love with that 70's Chinese sound. It's so natural and full of life (can't do the 80's, maybe 90's is ok). Don't listen to it all the time but I can't imagine not having it in my collection.
Hermoso video, Gia!
Hello Gia, I greet you from Peru. I hope you can do a special of the Great Combo of Puerto Rico. They have nice songs, among them one called "Ojos Chinos." Thank you for having this channel that now accompanies me. Kisses from Peru 🇵🇪❤️😘

It truly blessed me, thanks Gia for sharing this moment!!
Crazy how hong kong is still living their 80s 90s vibes
there are many places in the world that don't change that much over the years. but eventually they will given time.
hip city
Every Saturday morning I just type "Gia Fu salsa" and life's good ❤️

Vinyls record, cassettes tapes, analog sound just warm than digital sound. Golden age for vintage musics .
