CAN WE JUST HAVE A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL MV.
Why the hell are people saying that Taemin is undeserving of having a solo debut before the others? How I see it is he is THE most deserving of it, and here's why:
Over 6 years ago a group named SHINee debuted. You had two main vocalists who were being praised for their singing right off the bat- Onew and Jonghyun. You had a 'jack of all trades' character who was good at singing, rapping, and dancing- Key. You had a strong, masculine individual who provided the crucial vocal undertone and was the main rapper- Minho. Then you had a cutsey boy who has incredible dancing ability and not much else going for him- Taemin.
I saw a bit from an interview with taemin where he basically said he was told he was tone deaf and should not persue improving his singing abilities. He was told by friends to just focus on dancing. But thats not what he wanted to be. He wanted to be an awesome stage presence able to stand on his own and make others happy doing so. So what did he do about his dilemma?
He worked. Hard. He worked his ass off when people told him it was a wasted effort. He kept practicing singing when he was still just seen as the "dancer".
I believe you can first see the results of this in Sherlock. He had solid parts in singing and did oustanding in his dancing. Then in dream girl, I saw a lot of people praise him for having that drawn out note just before Minho's rap that in theory should have gone to Jonghyun. Then in WSS, Taemin took nearly ALL of jonghyuns parts in the mv, which three or four years ago would have been split between Onew and Key. In Everybody, He stood as a main vocalist right up there with the rest of them WHILE slaying that dance. Plus, we have to keep in mind the oh so many ost sountracks and singles he's produced, quickly gaining experience and popularity amoung the people who are exclusively KDrama fans.
And now we're here. Its shocking for some and long overdue for others. But remember: this is what he wants so badly. He worked so hard to get to this point. And now when he's presenting a solo album, proving all those people who told him it was a waste of time wrong. And you have the balls to say he doesn't deserve it as much as Onew or Jonghyun? Some would argue his vocal abilities are still inferior to theirs, but look at the GROWTH. To advance as much as he has is incredible, and that DESERVES to be shown off.
I seriously can't say anything more .. what you said is exactly what was on my mind since I knew he'll be having a solo debut and saw all those bad reactions about it ..

Jjong always wanted to have his own radio show, and now he's host of 'Blue night", Key, Minho and Onew was active this year too. It's time for Taemin now, i'll always support SHINee no matter what.

seriously shut the fuck up. yes the comment section is for stating your opinions on a video but there is a difference between 'stating your opinion' and just bashing and trolling. ive been a shawol for five years now and ive always supported everything they've done, this is NO different. im hella excited for his solo debut! his "baby" image was left in the ground like two years ago GET OVER IT. yes I was mad at first but ive never bashed him for doing what he wanted to do!
I KNOW his solo is going to be big. I know his album is going to be good. please if you are a fan support him even the slightest this is a huge step for him. he went from hardly getting parts in a song to his solo debut, that is something to celebrate!

They don't think that Taemin or SM copied Jaejong. This kind of makeup and outfit is very common in Kpop -and before jaejong, there are lot of Jpop idols-They want to bash them, actually. Taemin's face are very similar with JJ on this teaser, especially the lips and body figure. This is the only fact they have it and they want to using it to stain an excellent solo debut. They're charmed and afraid it. This is the SM effect.
i totally agreeeeee, it's not like jaejoong owns this particular look..i have witnessed this look long before k-pop has even took storm globally (cough cough* j-pop/j-rock). I personally think that taemin and jaejoong may be categorized as one of the popular stereotypically looking pretty asian boytoy, the gender bending looking type. therefore its just natural to have them go with the same direction in terms of the look and the styling, because it simply suits them.. not everyone can pull this look off!!
as much as annoying these obsessed die hard fans of jaejoong are (don't get me wrong, i adore jaejoong), i can't entirely hate and blame them for knowing only a portion of asian pop culture. Some of them were too young or not even present when j-pop/j-rock was happening. They are just blinded by what they see today and what they know..
but please enough with accusing this copying that.. Can't we just celebrate the fact that taemin is having a comeback..peace~

out of all the members in SHINee, i think Taemin is the one who improved the most. I'm not saying that he's better than the members but of course they all matured but really, He's the only one I've noticed who pushed himself to the limit and tried to get out of the "maknae/main-dancer" label, that his vocals wouldn't as good as Jonghyun or Onew but he proved it wrong. He slayed it, he went out of his comfort zone, he wanted his artistry to be seen in a higher level at every come back. Which I think, he totally deserves this.
And he's not even my bias. lol
