Good morning to you you and your family . Happy New Year . Another good video Dave . Like you said Dave yes we Eastern Europeans do eat fresh water fish and they are delicious if you know how to prep them . My favorite is Zander Carp and Tench these I like fried , to be honest the reason most people don't like eating fresh water fish is because they have a lot more small bones which can be a pain in the ass . In Hungary we make a delicious fish soup with a mix of fish for more flavour . Here's a quick recipe for you if you want to try , gut and clean your fish , cut strips into the fish to make it easier to fry both sides and salt both sides , leave to sit fr 30 mins . In the meantime mix plain flour with paprika until the flour is a nice pink colour. dip the fish into the flour both sides and fry . This is nice on it's own to eat or you can have whatever with it . I like a nice beer with the fish on it's own . Watching you Dave is always fun. In Hungary we use alcohol to soak corn in for Carp fishing .
Here in the UK we tend to avoid eating coarse fish, if you take fish for the pot they tend to be Trout Salmon or sea fish like Cod. I understand there's many different cultures round the world unfortunately people didn't really obey our customs and laws here in the UK when they came here for work and it caused a lot of friction with locals who watched folk destroy fisheries. I've a lot of Polish friends who are cracking anglers they spend a lot of their time telling other Polish folks not to kill coarse fish or Pike because here in the UK the fish get put back. I seen fights start on the banks because of people breaking the rules and no one wants to go fishing and end up dealing with violence. As the old saying goes "when in Rome do as the Romans do" I'm happy to go anywhere in the world and obey local laws and customs I think folk who come to the UK and Republic of Ireland should do the same.
Good to see you back out just as your talkin about oil's just looking at some of the lads down here getting big pike on this stuff Rebel Pike "Haggis Blood Oil" Maybe try it out and see if it's good thanks for your vids 🙂👊🎣
I have tried it in the past but I ended up giving the bottle to my Scottish mate for him to take back to Scotland to see if it would work better on Scottish Pike.
Morning dave smashing viewing yes this cold weather we had certainly improved fishing had 3 upper doubles over the last 2 weeks happy new year to you and your family. Hope its a better one .I know my old dad is now looking down on me.he always made me laugh when I was a kid always saying you drowning them bloody worms again.
It was a fairly low key Xmas and new year amego the little one got spoiled rotten but sure that's what you do with little ones crimbo is a time for kids to enjoy. Hopefully the next session this week is a bit more fruitful and easier than playing musical fishing rods to reel in take weed off and cast out again. Always good to hear from you amego
Just watched your video Dave great show, I no it's hard to catch fish in this weather, hopefully 2023 will be better for u ,Happy New year to you and your family 👍
Hi Dave , just watched your last video which was as good as always , pitty there’s no fish but cooking with scobes made up for no fish mmmmm ! . All the weed running through at the moment makes things a misery but hay ho . Happy new year to you and keep up with your content Dave , double thumbs 👍👍🥃
Hey Ian the weed on the Erne system is murder mate the river rising and falling just pulls more and more dead and dieing weeds into the river that get pushed along with the flow making fishing difficult. Still all it takes is one Pike to come across your bait and your in.
Hi dav hope you had a great Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family as always love the chat and the fishing and off course the cooking and the bonus driving 😁
Hey Joe how's you amego did you have a good Xmas and New year? Mine was a low key thing with the family the baby got spoiled rotten the wee monster was more interested in playing with the boxes the toys came in rather than the toys themselves
Hey Keith sorry its took me this long to get back to you the rivers have been moving all month there's lots of rubbish coming down them and they are hard work at the moment
I remember being on a large building site ..near Harrogate in the late 80,s ....the ground workers were all Irish lads .....we were part of the roofing contractors....one morning we were all on the roof chatting ...trying to motivate and get started ...while below a Irish lad was waking heads down and randomly stamping hard onto the concrete footings ...we were silent watching this guy ....he stopped...looked up at us ....said im a f.....irsh mine detector..🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's Fox buddy I picked up the Salopettes and Jacket to replace the old Pro Logic ones I had so far no complaints it's waterproof and comfortable to walk round in
iv'e never used em personally, but i wonder if back leads could improve the weed problem , there could be some negatives regarding early bite detection for pike..anyway great vids .all the best .
Hey Paul unfortunately no backleads didn't seem to make any difference. Only way I found was sinking the rod rip a good couple feet under the water and that took the line away from most of the floating crap but its hard to do on a flowing river where your wanting to keep the rod tip up high to keep most of the mainline out the flow
Good effort scobes. You won't catch any pike at home in front of the tele. I had two short pike sessions over Christmas same days as you. Two blanks. Went back to the general coarse fishing and have had quite a few carp and bream. Did very little piking in 2022 and not a single pike caught. Tightlines for both of us in 2023
@@DavidScobie Hello mate, bad internet cocks everything right up lol my Christmas was shite, had flu n all that, hope yours was better. Loving the content keep it coming. Taking chorizo next time I’m piking 👍🏻 Got bit really bad by pike other day mate, had my hand down it’s throat with forceps then it tail walked in the mat, opened me up to the bone mate had to go AnE what a wolly lol
Mark we have all been chewed on by a Pike at some point in our Pike angling adventures just a thing we have to put up with. It's normally Jack's who end up opening me the most bigger Pike just seem happy enough to lay there and let you unhook them.
@@DavidScobie yeah man, lesson learnt there mate. I’ve only been piking for about 2 years and that ain’t happening again lol Although it probably will lol
@@DavidScobie 4 ops on back right hip replaced waiting nearly 3 years for left hip replacement blind in left eye heart attack so I couldn’t do it in anything with a motor in it.
Genuine question, how do you avoid the likes of food poisoning etc on the bank? Do you just take wipes with you? always worry myself touching raw dead bait then my food lol
Brilliant vlog as always David as far as I was taught a fisheries with a good head of pike and perch have aways been healthy fisheries I can’t undstsnd why they would remove or kill pike that get rid of diseased and unhealthy fish stocks and keep them in order there nuts or better said idiots
Rob were dealing with humans that get confused putting on velcro shoes. Lots of ideas set in the dark ages lots of so called experts who I'd not trust to peel potato's never mind run a fishery.

watching you chuck that frog about but can't wait to see you run back to the bait rods.Sorry just taking the piss now lol
It's cool buddy thanks for the support
Tough sessions there scobes , but plenty of bacon , dogging and a bit of road rage , so not all bad 😂👍👍🤠
I'm just happy the doggers spun round and drove off otherwise it could have made a whole different vlog hahaha

Hey George thanks for that buddy I hope Xmas and New year was good for you and the family buddy let's hope its tight lines for the both of us.
I have never heard of that vodka tip before definitely going to try it
It just thins out the oil putting it into the water easier so the Pike should smell it better

I think I might do a coarse fishing session on it soon not sure I'll target it for Pike but the Bream fishing used to be good.
@DavidScobie, yeah think me and the boy are going to hit it Saturday, i must admit I’ve never caught a pike in ni yet.
