Why Is MOBILE LEGENDS Being Sued Again? | League of Legends

- Mobile Legends is a mobile game that claims to have been the first "Mobile MOBA game". Although this is debatable, one thing that's not debatable is how the developers take an immense amount of inspiration from League of Legends. A game that came out 7 years before their release.
With that fact, Riot Games have spent the last 5 years trying to defeat them in court. But despite how obvious some of their copying is at times, Mobile Legends has seemingly completely got away with it.
Today we take a look at the most recent update to their battles and how Riot Games' Wild Rift may actually be struggling to beat Mobile Legends.

By the way, it's not mentioned in the video but I actually think Mobile Legends is a fine game. There's a reason why so many people prefer it over others.
Let me know though, do you play mobile games like Mobile Legends or Wild Rift? 🤔
Mobile Legends is a nice game. The community is just not good. I like both games but spent more time on Mobile Legends
I cannot play on mobile screens at all so I do not like any mobile MOBA.
Nah mobile legends is turbo-cringe. they dont even try to make the game different by any way shape or form
@@Sakuwu__VT MLBB eSports is not professional. It's purely entertainment for two countries dominated by MLBB. People begging for skins were rampant among streamers.
@raynaldo arlen k.eman Riot starting doing the same recently with Gacha and exclusive skins
The fact that Moonton got away with blatantly copying League just goes to show how little intellectual property rights matter. I hope that will change someday.
Why would it change? This is raking in millions just in tax for the commies, why would they suddenly cut that off? You think Dog Xi-t is thinking, "damn, that's too much money, better stop my company number 2, ByteDance, from copying my company number 1, Tencent?"

@trilamhuu46 It's one thing to have inspiration, it's another thing to copy and paste. There are spiritual successors to cult classic video games, then there is blatant, unimaginative, and slimy copying something and claiming that something as your own.

Riot has let Mobile Legend to grow too big and i doubt they could shut them down at this point. It's not just a game anymore, this has become an industry and a lot of people earn their living from this game in all aspects
They can still flip things up and get all the ace card again if they will make Wild Rift much more easier and newcomer friendly like MLBB.
I downloaded WR last year and I honestly don't understand anything on it. 😂 I ended up going back to MLBB because I don't play any computer games and I don't even know LOL games before.
I don't know what happened on WR now but if they can attract a lot of my friends on playing it maybe I can redownload it again.
@@connordrake5713 Doesn't look good for Wild Rift, the team behind doesn't seem to be what it needs right now.
Fair enough, honestly I think it's a waste of time. Riot already dominantes the PC gaming area with Val and League alone. Mobile Legends is just a league rip off that started before wild rift, but essentially a copy paste of the same game.
@@connordrake5713 lol me downloading WR thinking I could learn a few stuff in just a few days of playing... dead wrong
I think one of the biggest things why MLBB's player base didn't budge when WR was released is that wr needs a good phone and a big system to run properly. I used to play MLBB before wild rift and there's a really big difference when it comes to space required for the game to play smoothly, here in the Philippines there's a lot more people that play on phones rather than consoles and gaming set ups that also means not everyone has a good phone to run the Wild rift (due to the pandemic too since a lot of people lost their jobs)
Awww
Additional info: people here just really prefer mobile gaming because consoles and set ups are literally so expensive 💀
@@jellycustardcat7438 Thank you, that explains a lot 🙂
I agree. Me as a League enthusiast blatantly upgrade my phone to a mid range with high end specifications just to play this game. I'm not saying that playing League Wild Rift will be expensive but a lot of Filipino can't afford to upgrade their phones just to have fun when they can literally have fun with the copycat. Still, I'm not regretting that I bought a new phone and got to play flawlessly with Wild Rift but its pretty unfortunate that it will take time before my friends got to have theirs and join my league.
@@WildRiftGameplayandTutorial exactly dude, like they aren't going to upgrade their phones just to play wild rift if they can play another game that does the exact premise (Moba premise). Even if we say that wild rift is more worth it when it comes to champions, skins, experience, community and overall performance people aren't going to play if they literally can't.
Here in the Philippines, playing pc games were usually played in comp shops because having a pc is expensive as shit. And it was highly inconvenient not only to the people gaming but also to the other people in the computer shop waiting their turn.
When Mobile Legends was introduced, it was definitely a lot easier, and less expensive for people. Not to mention it was user friendly, or atleast it was for me. I've played both, and honestly, ML is less intimidating than League. And I was so confused with League that I just did not want to play cause it was too complicated (I was a beginner ,and a kid who just wanted to play with friends, I was not looking for advanced nerd shit plus I'm not allowed out of the house for a long time). When I got ML, it gave me the chance to easily play with friends without having to worry about time and expenses.
Even until now, majority of my friends still play ML, even if Wild Rift is there. Ml is just more faster, less space, and more friendly. A single game in League usually takes around an hour from what I've seen, and ML can be done in less than 30 if you're lucky. But if you get over 30 in ML, to me, it's usually because both sides are very good and are unwilling to end fast because they enjoy fucking it up with their opponent lol. Probs the same with League but I usually watch ML Esports/Content Creators.
The only difference for me is the mechanics. Both are equally fun, and both are equally a good game to play with friends. But League is definitely harder than Ml, it's more advanced.
Can relate
Yea I stay getting matched up with Filipino players
This is basically all of the reasons why I prefer ML to WR. Me and my aunt (yes, my aunt is my duo in ml) tried out WR when it first released, and we both didn’t like the experience so we just played ML instead, and to this day, we still play ML so yeah?
@@9thharbingerofthefatuinot to mention that people you wouldn't expect playing a MOBA game are now playing it because of Mobile Legends. I am playing with my Mom sometimes when she actually restrained me for playing DotA years ago.

The main problem is that Riot had a chance to make Wild Rift a lot earlier when people actually demanded it. Riot didnt follow up on it so others took the rein and went wild.
fr, the one good thing about the copycats though is it made them create wild rift to compete with them xD
That's unfortunately exactly what happened.
And the story goes that Tencent pressured them to make a mobile version many years ago but Riot didn't want to until they were ready.
Now it is what it is.
@@NicolaiLol
At least we get nice champion models which could be used in League PC
Riot doesn't listen to its fans after all
@@NicolaiLol Although that was a big part of the problem, I also think that Riot was in the right by saying it needs time since you can't really expect quality material to be just rushed, bad luck, shit happens, Mobile Legends copied Riot and that's something that actually happens a lot, however, I think the judge who dismissed riot's lawsuit is the one on big fault, either that, or some hideous sh*t must be going on there... Anyways, great video Nicolai, just as always! :)
As someone who played league for 12 seasons, based on how greedy riot was with last years and the amount of "we don't care" from customer support it feels good
I played ml on a whim and wild rift after maybe half a decade of anticipation. As a 12 year vet, as blatant as a copy ml was and was meant to be, riot did something even worse by integrating ml's worst original ideas, ranging from the concepts in yuumi and renata to shattle-pass "events" and poorly random loot. Somehow rank-matching is slightly more even on the chinese knockoff of a sold-out game- whose client and code braves millions of shitty phones every day. Theres no way ml hurts their bottom line any more than they have.

I honestly have the impression riot did not put enough effort into promoting Wild Rift. Mobile Legends has been in the market for much longer as "lol mobile", if riot wanted to overthrow them they should have promoted the game harder. I feel they relied way too much on Arcane and when the hype ended everyone forgot WR.
They didn't even promote the game in LoL - where thousands of players (especially new ones) have technical difficulties with their pcs.
Also canceling Esports everywhere but asia is very concerning, especially because in South america there is a largely passionate playerbase. I go to twitch and more than half the streamers are latin/brazillian (and I usually look for english content)
And as a south american who had issues with bad pcs and who has friends with the same issues I can atest WR is a great alternative for many people who can't play LoL on PC and they would probably like it. Issue is, nobody ever hears about it unless they are already part of the League community.
I think Wild Rift was assumed to just beat Mobile Legends because "Technically" mobile legends is much worse, balance is non-existant and the monetization is so scummy it would make EA blush. But the thing is that Mobile Legends is fun, when i lose i usually dont feel frustrated towards my team or like it was my fault, just that it was unfortunate and imma go next.
It is very interesting that they've done little-to-no advertising in areas in Latin America, maybe it's under the assumption that if they can't afford a good PC they can't sink money into their properties? Which sucks hardcore, of course, but I guess it's understandable. A lot of the Latin American fanbase (save for streamers) usually play for free or little money, at least from what my boyfriend has told me. Advertising and keeping the e-sports sect could've been considered too high of a risk, despite the fact it's so active in the community otherwise.
My pc runs league better than my phone runs wild rift, cause at least my pc doesn't try to ignite from loading up the app.
I played League from S3 to S7 and just discovered Wild Rift 3 weeks ago. They did a very poor job in marketing the game.
@@Strix2031 in simple words overhyped for nothing and the ones that side they either switches sides or dissapeared complety from the game or community
Thing is, mobile legends is unfortunately just so much better than wild rift, hell id rather play mlbb than wild rift.
When you realise there is an mlbb copy named "clash of titans" and many more
Its not you just have a skill issue because its only 3 abilities that game sucks
Honestly I prefer wild rift because you really need to work together to win. The problem is you need a strong internet connection and big ass storage. Plus the event in wild rift is so bland.
@@azrieldalusong5042 the matchmaking in mlbb sucks so bad, you win 2 games then lose 4 games. But overall It's just better, it listens to it's community, it adapts to the fact that not all people have hundreds of gb storage to download games like LoL.
Also incredibly user friendly, with most heroes being relatively easy to play and only having a couple heroes that are actually hard.
@@Nerdvpnpro I agree. Maybe it's just me. I do prefer games that gives me challenge.
It all boils down to game mechanics why MLBB gained so much popularity especially in SEA region. Players who never had any experience with MOBA find MLBB easier to play compared to WR
It has a lot to do with this and I don't think enough people put respect on how dumbing your game down to the point of brainlessness makes mobile games so successful.
This is going to sound derogatory and, to a degree it is meant to be, but the people who picked up MLBB are the Candy-Crush-on-the-toilet gamers and you can see it the moment anyone who has ever played *any* MOBA on PC logs in and dominates every match until they hit GM where the people who know how to abuse the broken mechanics of MLBB kick in and stonewall them.
No Fog of War, no backing for items, you have inbuilt functionality for lane sustain and there's an easy wincon in whatever the Baron Nashor thing is called again.
MLBB spoonfeeds you everything you need to win a match from the very start of the match, whereas Wild Rift is *still* LoL, even if it's only Diet LoL. Matchups matter, you don't just auto win if you all-in before the enemy all-ins you first, you have to give thought to jungling because you don't auto clear camps with 0 effort and, again, if you just all in as a jungler, you can't really lose in MLBB.
Wild Rift is MLBB for adults, even if it's still dumbed way down.
But there are other things to consider, too.
You can buy power in MLBB. Skins give stats that let you win level 1 engagements and you can buy materials to upgrade MLBB's clone of Rune Pages.
MLBB is so successful because, unlike Wild Rift that intends to emulate a proper MOBA, MLBB is just there to hook whales and make bank.

The biggest mistake of Riot is that they don't take advantage of getting a league of legends mobile around 2015 before mobile legends in 2016, and the COVID19 came, where most of the people are into mobile games and mobile legends consistently increasing in popularity
Unfortunate timing indeed
Lol why blame tencentwhen It's actually Riot they refused for a mobile version and blackmailed them if HoK was coming out on global so they had no win because of them.
Well the time gap went even further if u look at pre-covid since it's literally a power vacuum. Like it took too long for riot to start going into mobile with the while need to setup infrastructure & all
They already made AOV and some other mobile mobas before making honor of kings, that was released inside China earlier than the release of wildrift. Ahem, they didn't?
@@nushia7192 Hmm...actually it's the other way around. U see HoK was one of the 1st Tencent produced, they decided to rebrand it to AoV for the global release after HoK's success. Dat one's a bit tricky, AoV is basically a "globalized" ver of HoK and ofc Riot took issue with Tencent over how HoK/AoV(forgot which one) was similar to LoL(like old LoL)
As a player of both games i can say one of disadvantages of wildrift is what's moontoon doing right now which is collaboration yeah by doing collaboration with famous Anime,Cartoon and etc. They are able to take their audience go wild and made their satisfactory go up since now moontoon always asked the player if the skin is good enough or need improvements.
I can certainly relate because moonton is doing collaboration with some of my favorite anime

Wow this is a surprisingly wholesome comment section. Wasn't expecting that.
so, on some points mobile legends is in the right, for example the pool party skin line... is riot trying to say they can sue any game that has swimsuit cosmetic options? also the ahri thing, are they saying they own the rights to all kitsune based characters, solely saying it's justified because both of their tails are made of crystal, by that logic they can sue anything that has a fire based kitsune because foxfire ahri is a kitsune with a flaming tail, and clearly no one has ever thought of that idea before, ever.
Moonton didn't plan it to be a crystal tail but a holographic tail
Ye riot is just desperately nitpicking to make the lawsuit "bigger"
That how copyright works btw. Little copy still copying. If music you make yourself but copy little instrument of other music you can get copyright. And riot make that skin' earlier than mlbb
Exactly my thoughts. In that case, the entirety of Japanese culture could sue as well.
@@imamzakyabdurrasyiid4breg248 there's such a thing called sampling in the music industry. Copyright laws have more nuance than that. There are also criteria to be met such as novelty, is it entirely unique to warrant protection by the law?
It is too late to do something against Mobile Legends... Copyright laws are a little bit sketchy anyway especially when dealing with artistic character design. For example, Riot didn't invented the nine tail fox because the kitsune (spirit of the forest) is a part of Japanese folklore.

I played both wild rift and mobile legends and even though I love many things about wild rift, the game feels dull and they are trying to be too competitive on a casual platform. On ML, there’s always action and different modes released from time to time that are really fun, like mayhem, mirror, mirror mayhem, ravage, survival modes, etc. Sometimes when I end a match in wild rift I am just not motivated to keep going. On top of that, the very long queue times for ranked matches
I couldn't agree more, the only reason why I played it was the champions and they are fun... but the game wasn't fast paced as ML is since a average match would end 20 or 30 minutes.

Not many game devs are willing go invest in African servers as they "think" it will not be profitable as there will be low players. Basically mlbb has more servers which is convenient for me. Also you can call it a copy or ripoff whatever but mlbb is very polished and smooth

To be honest, the first thing that i have noticed between these two games is that they are both quite similar, yet i feel like ml is more easier to understand (like the characters) and lolwr is challenging (items and such). If i were a new player wanting to try a moba game, i would definitely recommend ml but if you want something hard, then lolwr. They are both good games, and actually quite addicting.
I also see the blatant copies that ml copied and i do agree that they actually copied it lmao. If they didnt expect no one to notice, theyare so stupid. It would've been nice if it was all original but sadly nope. I think they are just diggibg their own grave at thid point.
In lolwr i think they need to focus on how to make it user friendly so that anyone can enjoy even with a weak phone (like mine lmao). But either way, i love their efforts and mechanics. Just, i hope that the skills are easier to learn, most importantly items TvT.
In conclusion, GREAT GAMES, BOTH FUN, JUST BE ORIGINAL AND STOP STEALING FROM OTHER CREATORS.

yeah, "quite" addicting
Yeah, MLBB is easier than LoL right? Atleast that's what I've heard. I'm not great at looking at and buying specific items that I might need, I do better with predetermined builds that I don't have to focus on and MLBB is quite fun for someone like me who's not the greatest at buying items and planning based of what the enemy team has. But something I still want to ask is, should I still try LoL?
It's a pain though. They at one point started deviating a lot with the release of new champion ideas like Lunox, Harith, Faramis, Mathilda, etc but then they decided to go back to copying.
Not even exclusively to League. There are a lot of League copies like Bruno (Draven) and Aamon (Talon), but there's from even more MOBAs like another Mobile MOBA, Onmyoji Arena. ML copied their Mennendake and called it Ling, as well as Onmyoji's Kisei which they called Yve.
It's really sad, because ML at one point seemed to be going to be their own thing. It DID become their own thing, but then went back to copying from skins + heroes. Oh well. That is that, and this is this.
Exactly. However, legally speaking, are these even subject able to copyright though? I mean I observe similarities between Dota, LOL, Mlbb, AoV, and even Oniyouji Arena.
I highly doubt that these mechanics are subject to copyright. If so, imagine a mere forward target skill being protected by copyright. There will be no competition, besides the root of MOBAs are RTSs like War craft.
Being said, if ML wants to carve it's own identity, it should reach all points of parity first by exactly providing a hero with similar mechanics to the competition then establish points of difference by designing heroes with distinct kits like what you've said. I think Johnson's mechanic was also copied from Omniyouji Arena.

MLBB built a massive playerbase and will continue to grow more, they're so good the players don't care about copying Leage of Legends, they satisfy almost all the players wants on a moba game, they also offer good services and the developers listens to the community. Personally I think Mobile Legends deserves this and it's League of Legends fault for not releasing a mobile version and their only way to make up for it is to sue MLBB
Isn't Moonton the same company that was kicked out of China because of copyright infringement, and was sued by multiple gaming companies because of blatant copying?
Last I check, the list includes Riot games, Blizzard, and Hoyoverse.
Now that's even worse lol
last time i checked they are in 😂😂 china couldnt ignore byte dance.
I'll choose mobile legends over wild rift anyday
As a person who plays mobile legends, yes, there are a lot of similarities between the two games but to be fair the game now is making some good and original stuff that one wouldn't really think that they are the same anymore. Moonton did mess up in the past for basically copy-pasting League Of Legends but now it is very different. Not really defending Moonton but only saying what i see

The lesson here is: if you're going to plagiarise a game, or anything for that matter, have your head office based in China.
That said, I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for Rito. You've been playing favouritism towards China so hard in the last few years, it just makes sense they exploit this favouritism harder now than ever before.
I still remember seeing people being like "once wild rift comes out all those other copies will fail!"
Personally I'm not on anyone's side personally particularly, I think Moonton should stop copying but Riot should learn they can't really shut down ML, that is unless their motivation is just to get extra money.
The thing is I believe that Moonton could create ORIGINAL characters, but they choose to go down this road. I like the gameplay of heroes like Kagura, whose mechanics I can't find in any other MOBA. I believe that since ML was the one of the first to make this type of game accessible to mobile players, they pretty much know how to make heroes that feel natural on the phone (though sadly even if some are copies of the original.) I've tried WR, but I found myself going back to ML because the controls just felt more natural, and each hero in ML makes you interact with the interface in a different way unlike WR which simply tries to incorporate their PC champions' skills into mobile.
Unluckily even Kagura is stolen from league...

To be Honest, MLBB is better than Wild Rift, even if it is a Copy.
It is smooth and not rigid like LOL, and the announcing voices are more lively, unlike dead voices of Wildrift announcement.
I'm someone with over 10k games in ml and around 5k in league, but only 200 in wildrift. ML grew into the moba for mobile, with barely 2 sec waiting time while WR with its small player base and long Q, isn't much fun. Riot with its big money should've advertised it more, and honestly think that moonton stole the business idea from riot and for most of the time riot didn't care. Currently the ML-LOL similarities are way less than before. And in all honesty, think that riot lost the mobile market for it. But if they win, hopefully can see a comeback
I play mlbb on phone and not Wild rift cuz I want something different than league. Whats the point of playing league but on phone and worse. If I have to play mobile I just want a game that I cant play on pc and mlbb has a different playstyle + some heroes are not copies
@@leoro8413 I do agree on variety, but understand that the graphics in wr is way better than lol because of their updated models and its more f2p imo. I had to grind years to max out emblems and obtain a fraction of heroes f2p in ML while I got them in WR so much easier, plus equal runes for everyone

Apparently, Moonton listens to their fans
They always did survey and listened to the player
Im surprised the lawsuit didnt add the things moontoon copied from both the skin reveals (pool party is one example) and the musical videos like "as we fall"
Yeah, the problem of Wild Rift not getting the MLBB fans is that people are afraid of change, especially when the games have different UI and stuff. They are afraid of unfamiliarity. I speak from experience cuz I was a long time DotA2 player who moved to League in 2017 (In my country no one knew of league during that time cuz there has been no ads or any easy way to play it). The changes were drastic, and had to take a long time (or short depending on you I guess) to adjust and learn things. But most people are just too bored to give time to learn, and thus stick to the old one.
i agree but it's also the fact that mlbb specifically target's south east asia which most if not all of it's people uses phone's instead of console or pc setup because it's hella expensive here but also due to the fact that mlbb has been around for 5 year's now and it has time to established and grew influence over asia i had the same phone for around 4-5 year's now and mlbb UI specifically makes it so that you can run it and play it smoothly i only got into mlbb 2 years ago and the fact is that people can play it with their friends and simply have fun the hero mechanics are easy to understand and it's not too competitive (unless you're in the highest rank) i have been on the internet for most of my life i knew mlbb was a copycat at first i thought i wouldn't like and that it's just a cheap knockoff but over time it grew on me i had memories and had fun playing it i understand the criticism and how it's a blatant copy but it's just riots fault for being way too late and they also don't promote it as much too.
@@Kiri.Dragoon Yeah, I think they're (Riot) just afraid of risk cuz it's not popular in Asia yet and they haven't really set foot whereas MLBB is already rooted and most people already had a lot of fun with MLBB prior to Wild Rift's release. If they are not afraid of stepping foot in Asia, they would make it much grander. I was talking around 2017 man. MLBB just started booming way before LOL was even widely known in Asia.
Uhm, its not about afraid of change, league is much older than mlbb is. Second, people wanna finish a game before their phone either heats up or gets the battery drained; 3rd, people want challenge, slaying creeps/minions/jungle monsters is not going to fill that up, unlike pvp. You're also more incentivized to focus more on enemy player engagement than focusing on your gold income.
I will always support League of legends, but wild rift is just a fail. The game is just not for mobile, matches take long and it's mechanics are way harder than mlbb's. Complexity and something long is not what you want for a mobile game. I still love LoL in PC though.
Tf how old r you 10..?
At this point it just feels like riot is the bad guy just like in super hero cartoons, the villain constantly tries to take down the hero, and the hero always comes out on top, and if the hero falls he simply gets back up again
I think they're doing that for 2 reasons:
1) To remove ML on the app so wildrift can strive
2) To stop Moontoon, copying the game.
I'd rather play 2 games, than play one boring game.
In my opinion, the thing after they've released the LoL in 2020 is that They also made the game size 1GB to install, which made some of the MOBA gamers Just leave it in there. In our country, we mainly use mobile data, not wifi, and the promos can't even reach 2GB. That's why it's left alone by some gamers, whilst, a bootleg version that's released in 2016 and has a bigger player base, only has a compact size of 100MB (in those times), in which then you could download the remaining resources ingame.
Moonton is so desperate... they were even paying content creators and pro players to NOT play WR and bad mouth WR...

I think wild rift will slowly gain popularity......this game just recently came out whereas mlbb has been in the market for years. If the devs in wild rift give efforts in setting up servers and making them stable then surely it will attract a lot of player base. I have been a mlbb player and strongly supported the game but after playing wild rift, I don't feel like going back to mlbb mainly because of the map and graphics. Mobile legends is getting attention because league of legends is not available in every company
Okay hear me out. I am a Mobile Legends player (from season 4 onwards) and maybe some people would like some insight.
Moonton is an incredibly greedy company, but they did the MOBA format on mobile justice. Something that took Riot years to catch up to with Wild Rift.
A lot of people were yearning for something fresh when Wild Rift was announced and they were dying to move on from Mobile Legends. But overall, WR ended up being the inferior version to both League AND Mobile Legends. A lot of the ML players tried out the game and just didn't like it - or ended up playing both.
As for the copyright. Yes it started out as a blatant copy, but the game evolved overtime. They are striding away from copying League nowadays (as far as the heroes go). Some heroes like Bruno (the soccer player shown in the beginning/the draven copy) has had that same kit since coming out pre-season 4. Yes he is a copy, but hasn't it already been established that the game started out as a complete ripoff. To this even then I'd argue: "Ok why doesn't Riot just release a mobile app?"
And then they did and it sucked. Mobile Legends simply had no competitors on the mobile marketplace and it felt wrong trying to take away ML from us considering there is no LoL for mobile (at the time).
That recent lawsuit was a complete joke. They went so far with the nitpicking that they pointed out how the CHAINS in some random background looked similar.
It's kind of sad seeing how Riot has to nitpick the few units that haven't been reworked since release (over 6y ago) and some completely irrelevant background details.

the thing is when i started we didn't have a pc unfortunately and tbh last year i tried league of legends it just didnt click now i really really love league of legend as i like there lore and cinematics and heroes skills also mainly cuz i played war craft 3 which had dota maps
now as a veteran ml player when i got to league of legends pc it was super hard for me i was getting destroyed even though my team was winning i barely could hold myself with mobile legend it's super easy it first and really friendly when it comes newbie players and they fo such a good job explaining everything for beginners that people got attracted to it now i know it's bullshit copying LOL and tbh i think that mobile legend can make interesting character and interesting skins but i think they intentionally copy league basically they want the LOL player base idk i hope moonton take a heavy hit so they start making original characters
Riot just jealous

Jealous about what? Don't you know how difficult and detailed Riot makes Champions? And MLBB makes cheap imitations with no details? Ha ha
As a lol and mlbb player, I confirm that many aspects were copied
Wr is just so boring dark and depressing tried playing it and I was good too nothing hard about it since I have experience in moba and those type of games doesn’t require a lot of thinking and high IQ bffr but after a couple days of playing I just couldn’t help but go back to MLBB reason 1 the gameplay is much more enjoyable 2 those so called “knockoff” characters are way too fun bro people here thinks that LOL is the original creator of all the characters the answer is no because all of them steal nobody is innocent that’s how this industry works once something is liked by people companies are just going to try to profit off of them RIOT should just start worrying about improving their own game instead of trying to tear the other game apart being a pain in the ass is not gonna help them and one more thing RIOT have good storyline thanks to the original writers maybe don’t fire them and fuck up one of the few good things about the game

At some point, I don't even think that riot should ever try sue moonton again. It's time consuming and the court case being dismissed has proven that it's useless to sue moonton. Not to mention the fact that people who played wildrift had been displeased about the lags, bugs, game crashing, login problems and many more to come. I would also say that if MLBB actually shuts down, riot better be ready when MLBB's game community start spamming 1 star reviews on play store.

Imma just say this... MLBB players are just mentally ill.
I've see so many people complain about the game. From the map to how new characters are always mega broken and never get nerfed into a balanced state. The meta is always "who was released the latest?"
Yet, they refuse to play LoL WR which is 10 times better. They're also delusional about it...
LoL WR got longer matches... they're roughly the same, if anything LoL WR is faster by 1-2 min on average.
LoL WR is not fun, it's not balanced... even tho you can pretty much play any champ you want, whenever you want.
Then there is also the monetization in MLBB, where some skins costs over $100 dollars and barely have anything special about them... in LoL WR you can buy almost anything you want for $10 or less
That's good and all but I live here in the Philippines so let me tell you something:
People here are most likely (approximately 90%) too poor to own a desktop so internet cafes here are still a thing but those are expensive to play league everyday, so instead of spending a buck for 4 hours in the cafe, we found an easy and cheap alternative that we can easily accessed to with cheap data promos and lasts for a week and that's Mobile Legends. Everyone plays it from toddlers to elders it's so goddamn famous for its accessibility because you can run it in literally old ass android phones. Yeah, Wild Rift is also a mobile game and has a good gameplay but not everyone can or want to play it either because they're too attached to ML or their phone can barely run it for 25fps cus most people here has a piss poor android phones. I once thought they just review bomb Wild Rift but if you think about it, that makes some sense.

Idk if you were around when Mobile Legends first launched... but do you have any idea what the first version of their map looked like?? It doesn't help that Wild Rift was steadily declining by the time 2022 rolled up. The lawsuit seemed like a desperate last struggle to bring Wild Rift to the forefront. WR just lacked enough effort in advertising and supporting their content creators from the smallest to the biggest which gave ML not only an edge because they got in the market first, but also built a tight bond of loyalty with the community and creators. Might be going on a tangent here, but ML goes out of their way to help small content creators host giveaways and advertise them in game to grow their channels and send them gifts at least thrice a year didn't matter if they were small. It's sad to see a billion-dollar company lacked the effort to retain the playerbase.
Like a desperate move? Because it kind of is.
Looking at the article, this was since May of 2022....and the court snubbed the case already, but eh, Riot can get stubborn at times (they plan on appealing it again anyways...). Also, yes, this is EXACTLY a DESPERATE move from Riot, it's that obvious, also. With the recent case/s where Moonton is ACTUALLY the one winning (Tencent sued Moonton for marketing related shit or sumthn, but Moonton ended up winning anyway), cannot say much, but I guess not all the blame should go to Moonton, considering Tencent also sabotaged Moonton on its early stages (which lead to that Ex Employee lawsuit).
When you actually take a look on some of the things that Riot Games claimed Moonton to copy, a lot of it is just nitpicking as a way to make the lawsuit filed bigger rather than giving the court a 5 page rant, like when it comes to summer skins ( as if no game ever has some kind of summer skin events ), and when it comes to Guinevere, it's a different skin them altogether, as Ahri's is about Kpop band theme, and Moonton is futuristic cyberfox, so Naruto might as well sue Riot games 😂😂😂
It's just funny seeing the Riot and Moonton dilemma unfold.

To be honest, I think how these lawsuits are handled is just plain stupid. Yeah 2.9mil is A LOT of money... for a normal person/small company. But as mentioned, its merely a drop in the bucket from what they already made from stealing it in the first place. There should be something in place to properly deal with thing like this. Even if they were hit with a 500mil fine, that would not have been a problem for them, since now they can pretty much do it blatantly without fearing being fined again.
They didn't win against Moonton for copyright. Tencent sued it's ex-employee for breach of contract & won 2.9 mil in compensation. That employee just happened to be the Founding CEO of Moonton so the articles reported it as Moonton lost. But a company & it's ceo are seperate legal entities.
@@_KnightOfRounds_ Good to know, thanks!
People handling these lawsuits never take research they have a mindset they are richer than these companies especially the companies involved around games
@@_KnightOfRounds_ Riot might have just dirtied its reputation when the articles said "Moonton" instead of "Ex-employee".
Yeah not to mention ml has collabs making that amount pointless.
Rito should have made ashe the app icon to see how mobile legends would have reacted lol.
Stay away from Jinx!!!!
This is such a brilliant idea 🤣

They wouldn't react on an icon?
Why ml has lot of player is because of it is beginner friendly. No wards to worry about, no fog, etc. Unlike wild rift where its just too mechanical for majority of players to enjoy. It tried it but its definitely only lol players will enjoy. It also helped that in early years, a ml game can be done in average of 10 mins. Suited as a mobile game. So i dont think releasing wild rift early will change the trajectory of ml being popular
yep.. dl'ed wild rift. saw the fog.. uninstalled it immediately 🤣
Also the animation of ml is more focus than wildrift . Like dealing damage for me in ml feels more satisfying but in wild rift, it does feel like im doing any good damage.

There's a difference between making another moba, and copying an entire moba...
mlbb is straight up a copy moba on it's first release before it became mobile legends bang bang it's just mobile legends which is a straight copy of champions just with different models
Lmao, ediots.
Biology cells replicate by cells copying the DNA first then splits.
Everyone is a copy of each other.
@@wtfface.8790 Well, no... My cells are a copy of my cells, not a copy of yours, or anyone else's. That's why gametes, from both the female and male, are needed for reproduction. You can't just give birth alone...
unless you're a Star Fish.
@@AcesPrune 99.9% of you is the same as a lab rat scientifically proven.
On behalf of the mlbb playerbase, this was quite unfortunate to see, mlbb was already going to a very good direction to originality until they further made obvious infringements such as the logo change of the game to league’, to the upcoming champions similarities, skins (especially Guinevere’s Legend skin with Ahri’s KDA) and etc.
But what i’ll also say is Wildrift could’ve really gotten way more than what it’s at now.. First of all which is obvious, the very delayed release of the game, when people really demanded for the game, riot really stretched it out for over a year till its release and at that time people just kinda forgotten about it and the hype died down. Giving mlbb over a year’s worth of growing and expanding their playerbase.
Resulting in 2ndly, they started giving out the beta test to mostly SEA region first, and why’s that a bad idea? Almost no one really expected it coming and a ton of ppl just wasn’t that sold on the game, cuz the SEA region was alrdy just way more familiar with mlbb at this time. Including me, since i was more familiar with mlbb’s more user friendly, simplistic and fast-paced gameplay. Wildrift just felt a lot more clunky, alot more info to digest, and just feels way much slower to play, it only took me a week of playing it before i decided to drop it cuz the game was just not it for me. They didn’t have enough features to compete with how versatile mlbb already has.
And last but not least.. poor promotion of the game. Riot could’ve pushed the hype even further by promoting it to their main channel, to league pc to encourage both old and newer league pc players to try it out as an alternative. But decided not to and only signed various specific celebs/creators thats in the mlbb scene to promote the game. One example is SoloZ from malaysia who is well known in the mlbb community (malaysia side), and made advertisements of the game, but as u guessed that players that saw the ads just weren’t that interested cuz they’re already more occupied with mlbb. Thus resulting the hype for the game even further tanking..
So in conclusion, Riot did not do enough to really help Wildrift to compete with MLBB to barely make a budge in disrupting their playerbase. MLBB continues to grow, while wildrift just slowly sinks. MLBB will remain the best moba game for the MOBILE department, while League stays the best moba game for the PC department.
Besides all these blatant copying and lawsuits riot and moonton fighting eachother over.. both games are great in their own ways so gotta respect that. Under all the copying moonton does, mlbb itself has a lot of effort put into when compared to other half-assed done ripoff games. But aside from that, i also say that league is also a great game for being able to last over a decade at this and still further expanding its playerbase. This is all just between 2 companies while we players should respect eachother’s opinions whether they like or dislike both games, there’s never EVER *which* of the 2 is better than the other.
I think that the fact WR has gone at endless beta phase makes people drove away from the game furthermore. I mean it's not inherently a bad thing since they're experimenting on what League of Legends PC feature they can bring into mobile, and it kinda works. But people have gotten tired of it and decided to call it a quit, like what I did. Luckily Riot has announced that they're ending their partnership with Garena and will host their own SEA server under their name starting from January 2023, so I can play LoL PC instead of sucking up at WR

(An Essay ahead on my opinion why wild rift is not as successful as ML)
As a SEA mobile legend player who were eagerly waiting for wild rift to release (bc i often watch the champion spotlight for PC version of heroes)…. i was quite disappointed when it does release…
(1st) the first FEW heroes (emphasis on few) that was released werent interesting enough to play with.. i was so excited to play as morgana, karma, syndra, and yuumi, only to realize they are not in the WR debut hero line up and by the time some of those listed heroes were added, i already got bored with WR and uninstalled it.
(2nd) Mobile legend is already an established mobile game in the SEA region (SEA is prob the center point of mobile gaming), and people have invested their time and money to this game long before wild rift shows up.
(3rd) idk if i speaks for other SEA players, but on the SEA region (i think) PC gaming is not as common as it is in the NA/EU region. And our economy doesnt support the majority of us buying personal gaming PC/gaming laptop so instead we turn to mobile games which is more accessible, and LoL debuted as a PC game which is why there isnt as much hype ab it bc ppl here dont really know it.
(Lastly) based on *what I experienced* while playing WR, the movement joystick is not as smooth as ML.
That being said, ik its very very long and unecessary, ik its a bad thing that montoon steals and dont really get punished for that, but ill still continue playing ML just bc i have invested too much time and money (started on 2017) on it and is alr way ahead of WR on mobile platform🧚🏻♀️✨
I prefer ML because of the faster games and gameplay. playing League takes way too long, especially now that I have a regular 9-5 job. the action slows down so much when you have to get back to base and get items, and the fact that on pc at least, it felt so slow to level up and earn the gold you need to get items. in ML there is almost no end to the action as you can just buy items anywhere on the map. A lot of people say the ML is broken, but then they also say ML just copied LoL, so does that mean that both are broken? If one is broken, the other is not - then they aren't exactly copies are they? I know its bad that ML did copy so much from League, but still there are a lot of fun and original stuff in it. I came from PC LoL to mobile legends, it just seemed like the way to go after becoming a working guy, playing on phones is convenient and the game is a lot easier to learn IMO. the reason why so many "noobs" are in ML is because they don't even play mobas at all, while people from League for me became very toxic the higher up you go, especially since I only play support/tanks solo Q - they would blame me for everything and whine all day when losing or if you make a simple mistake - chill out dude, its just a game! People call ML broken, but for me its just more fun. If someone complains that a Hero is OP, well SO MANY OTHER HEROES are OP too, lets all be broken together!
Tru the longest game will take 30minutes and that's pretty rare
tbh i hope ml doesnt get deleted it the only game i play, and their staff are really nice and i enjoy the game a lot and i love the collaboration i have spent way to much time and money on the game.

Another reason why WR has saw a decline in usage, is because of the mechanics, MLBB is a moba game that let you just buy items out of the blue and actually stays clear on what role you are (ex: When you're jungler just jungle or when you take out the turtle all will benefit) Unlike with WR you have to understand the mechanics deeply.
To be short MLBB is user friendly while WR is not

I actively tried to like wild rift but I just can't get used to the controls. It is such a shame tho, it has awesome events that league lacks.
yeah I was a huge vainglory player back then and heard about wild rift before it released. I was planning on giving it a try but then I saw that it would be joystick controls and that turned me away immediately :x Vainglory’s touch controls were peak mobile moba gameplay, and I am still sad that their devs had to shut the game down due to lack of funding. League never truly filled in the hole in my heart that that game left behind 😔
Yeah I just couldn't made Ahri dash continuously in a direction I want. I played for a week then quit. Heck mlbb is way more fun than WR.

Yeah telling your joke in another country from you and becoming popular fr
Problem is, Riot didnt make a mobile game, Moontoon did and they did copy back then, then they changed the whole concept. It was the only PVP game ever existed during that time..and it has the same quality as LoL...when Wild Rift was released, i find it unstable, especially server wise
Riot discontinuing the Wild Rift eSports (except for the SEA region) is basically them shooting themselves in the foot.
But I do hear that BR will have its esports scene back in 2023
As a WR enthusiast, I can't help but mention that NOT releasing WR in India probably made the game not as popular as it should be
I dont think they really care about the public
They just want the money yet they didn't see that MLBB was banned in India and its such a huge market yet they didn't release the game there
@@goodgrief6721India is a risky market for any Chinese company especially Tencent. It is most likely would get banned so why bother building it in the first place.
On the other hand, MLBB kept the indian servers up. You won't find the game in apps store but if you look hard enough you will find it and for some reason, it gets updated frequently and you don't even need to download future versions or anything. The game auto updates for you

This is more of a lesson to western developers and players, they've been snubbing and underrating the mobile game market for years. Now it's dominated by Chinese and South Korean developers.
Being said, I play both game but stuck with Mlbb. They're both fine, Mlbb has faster and pacing and more intense all throughout the early to late game. Meanwhile, Wildrift has a slower-paced early game but ramps up fast in late game.
I don't why Riot won't copy entertaining events from Moonton.
Moonton had chess games, mayhem, mirror-mayhem, mirror, brawl, and even a Bomberman event.
If Moonton is blatantly copy Lol, Riot can do it too. 😂
I don't think anyone underrated the mobile market. Legit everyone with some form of income has a mobile phone now, but certain publishers don't need to use the sheer #s of mobile gaming to run fine. Plus, some games just don't work well mobile or have a higher player base on different units.
Why focus on mobile games when your player base is strongly PC/Console? I agree with the last part though, but league has ALWAYS been a strategic moba. Most games now are built to be faster paced with smaller learning curves. ( Referring to league mnot WR on the last bit )

I am an MLBB player, I tried playing Wild Rift and I can say that it was quite a competitive ground. It's easy to play for me in ML and WR since in ML, it's easy to move and understand the mechanics, player friendly and feels much more comfortable, while in WR, there's a counter to pretty much everything, most players are experienced and can help alot. Both games are good and fun but for me, it's ML, idk if it's just me but the atmosphere in WR kinda sets me off but I like competing against good players though.
i do a gree as an WR player and a former ML player, for me WR are way more competitive and the mechanics are not player friendly for newcomer. Altho im still choosing WR over ML because of their graphics 😹
