  • The world systems appear to suffer from an entrenched dysfunction that tests our
commitment to, or even our belief in, international norms and principles to uphold the
dignity and equality of all human life. We have witnessed increasing trends in politicized
polarization, at home or abroad, not to mention the recent escalation of war in Israel and
Gaza or the protracted warfare between Russia and Ukraine. Atrocity crimes are ongoing
elsewhere but hardly receive public attention. Power politics among the nuclear powers are
entering a new level of uncertainty but rarely increase public discourse about the danger.
We seek answers, but complex explanations are often muted. We yearn for actions but
simultaneously face an increased compulsion to profess allegiance to one side or another.
How do we approach the world engulfed with so much violence and division? How can
dialogue and conflict resolution contribute to peace?

    Global Solutions (SIGS).
