I'm starting esthetician school in 2 weeks and this video is so helpful. I know I want my own business and have plenty of sales experience so I just need to get through the first year of experience through a traditional spa hopefully while also getting extra training on laser therapy, hydrafacials, and other advanced techniques so I can start those extra streams of income!
Being an aesthetician is very very competitive. Most spas do not have enough appointments for aestheticians. 80% of the clients are there for hair, nails etc… there are more aestheticians, then people wanting facials and waxing. It’s very hard to be an aesthetician full-time. The aestheticians that are booked solid our pushed and pressured to do a 50 minute facial, with only 10 minutes left for the client to change, for you to flip the sheets on the bed and clean the room, real fast bowls, etc.. then your product sales have to be high or you will be replaced. Then the next hour you have to do a consultation with the client, let them get dressed, set up products, according to their needs. Then you have to give them 50 minutes.. then they get 1 to 2 minutes to change, you show them products, which takes a while, quick, run in and get the room, cleaned and ready for the next client. They were all over again. So basically five minutes to do a consultation and let somebody get undressed and ready for their facial. Also, quick set up the facial products for their needs. 50 minutes for the facial. Plus whatever the spa wants to throw in as extras usually has to be included in that50 minutes. It’s almost impossible to get give it 100% and do a great job. After the 50 minute facial. You quickly leave the room so the client can change, meet them in the front to show them products, which is a huge part of your job. There’s not enough time to answer questions about the products because you have to run back in the room, take the sheets off the bed and any towels, run them back to the laundry room, grab new sheets and towels if you need them, remade the bed with the blanket on top. Then clean all the bowls, brushes, wipe down containers, wipe down the sink and counter area, etc.. if any of your products are low or running out, you better hope that somebody is around to grab you a new one from the locked closet. I would come home from work sometimes with swollen feet and so sore that I couldn’t do much more, especially working on the weekends and being booked back to back. You only get paid when you have an appointment and not everybody tips. Sorry about the grammar, I used voice text. I am so exhausted right now I can’t see straight. Too tired to edit it out, I hope you guys made it OK.
THANK YOU for this video so much it gave me so many ideas! I’m starting school this September this gave me the motivation I needed🥰 I’m excited now I know I can do it no doubt💖
I’m so happy I’ve stumbled across your videos. I’m currently taking my prerequisites and recently decided that I wanted to be a nurse esthetician because I’ve been dying to find a way to combine all of my passions. Please keep us updated on your plans after graduation!
Heyy! I wanted to ask since you want to be a nurse esthetician ,i cant seem to find this online but can you become an esthetician right after gettingRN license or working in a hospital/clinic is a must first? If that makes sense
Thank you SO much for all of your help and dedication ❤ as a new esthetician it can be hard to think of ways to maximize my potential and grow my business. I really enjoy and appreciate you and your content.
