    I've seen Barry at the Soulard McGurks more times than I can count. This guy can really play, but he sucks at gaelic football (haha). Check out his CD Pubtown. The title track is about the pub in St. Louis.

    Just all class all the time, Barry. Not only your music, but your paintings as well. Will I ever see a Keith Harkin (old soul) one by you? So proud that I had opportunity to hear and watch you as you played with Celtic Thunder tours here in USA. Will miss you on this tour.

    The reels are indeed "Stranger at the Gate" and "Rathlin Island."
    The first jig is "The Collier's Jig" (same melody as "The Collier's Reel"), but I have no idea what the name of the last tune is.

  • @differous01
    @differous01 13 років тому +3

    @ElAbortionist
    The reels are "The Stranger at the Gate" and "The Rathlin Island (Fling)" aka "Peter Brown's Reel".
    The Jigs are "The Collier’s Jig" aka "Do You Want Any More?" and "Seamus O'Shanahan's Jig".

    Great playing, who made your set? Gorgeous chanter, I like the wood, don't normally like the look of light woods in pipes. Keep at it.

  • @Legertymusic
    @Legertymusic 17 років тому

    It's an Irish bouzouki, Sionnach, and it's as much a part of the tradition as the pipes these days. I play both instruments in fact and Ruben is top stuff on the 'zouk. His chord changes and rhythms are lovely.

    Crackin' brilliant! Get talking to any UP player, watch closely, the UP's are VERY DIFFICULT to play, and extremely difficult to play well. Serious talent here!

    The bouzouki is fine...but I definitely prefer the accompaniment on the jigs than the reels. I can't stand when chords are strummed out like that on a 'zouk - Alec Finn's approach to the instrument (counter-melodies) sounds a lot better to my ears.
