Here we have the Purple-rumped Sunbirds feeding on nectar at this bush.
The bush (possibly Graptophyllum pictum) behind the fence boundary wall of Dona Alcina in Candolim is the haunt for the sunbirds.
Seen hopping and hovering around these flowers at top speed for a few seconds and are gone!
The female is light grayish-brown, yellow breast, whitish flanks, olive rump, and rufous-brown wing panel.
Male has narrow maroon breastband, maroon head sides and mantle, metallic green shoulder patch. and yellow lower breast and
belly with distinctive greyish-white flanks.
They have sharp, metallic calls and high-pitched trilling and twittering songs.
Inhabits open jungle, secondary jungle, cultivations and gardens.
Shot with a Samsung S21 FE5G attached to a Celestron Regal M2 100ED Spotting Scope with an adapter.

A lovely compilation of the Purple-rumped Sunbirds. Videographed in the heart of Goa in the midst of urbanisation, our birding couple, Leslie & Verena, ever ready with their spotting scopes, cameras, tripods and other paraphernalia, have captured this small and beautiful bird flitting about from flower to flower feeding on nectar and occasionally an insect or two which add to their staple diet.
