Fellow small video game UA-camr here. The algorithm recommended this video and I'm so glad it did! I love Final Fantasy, your editing is REALLY friggin' good, like I'm taking notes kinda good. You have my sub, keep doing what you're doing, cuz it slaps! And Cloud of Darkness totally suuuuuuucks. Looking forward to you covering the games with meatier stories!
This is a really enjoyable video to watch, it definitely deserves more views, especially considering the editing is quite fluid. Also, the crystal tower rant... perfect.
Worst parts of the game were the Ancient Ruins and Land of Darkness, specifically in the NES version. Seven long floors of enemies with a resistance to everything except to weapons that you don't have access to until *exactly* after you leave the area, with inescapable battles halfway through the maze. Then there's the Cave of Darkness; no save points between that and Sylx Tower since a developer was told it was "too easy", two bosses that are pushovers alongside two bosses that you probably weren't prepared for at all, and then the Cloud of Darkness. AOE attack spamming that you outright lose to if you aren't above 50. I genuinely love this game; I've beaten this game two times on Pixel Remastered and once on NES, and as much as I like it, it is a bit annoying to replay sometimes.
