Just what the world needs; yet another film "based on the novel by Mary Shelley" that probably has little or no affinity with that hideous yet beautifully articulate and poetic creation. At least this one doesn't have any spurious claim to be "Mary Shelley's" or "The True Story" as some unworthy efforts have in the past and is just another similar story someone came up with with the familiar, iconic name attached to hopefully get people to attend who wouldn't otherwise have bothered if they weren't hoping that THIS TIME the subject would be treated with the respect it deserves and not just another "man-made-monster" exploitation of one of the first great science fiction stories. When, if ever, will SOMEONE make the story Mary actually TOLD? The only one that's ever come close is Universal's 1931 classic, which ingeniously told the story and conveyed it's message even without the pages and pages of speeches in the book. So, IT CAN BE DONE! Can someone please make a proper version of my favourite story without altering/updating/"improving"it? Just once?
