Yep, can confirm. I started another replay for Christmas a couple of weeks ago and ran into this issue. Had to use the config file to set the textures to max.

I just played this game a few months back. On PC as well--which made for the fascinating discovery that this is actually now the most optimised game on PC in the series, at least that I've played. City and Knight both play fine, of course, but City has a wildly unstable framerate that jumps down to the 100 fps mark (from around 165) the moment you move the camera around, and Arkham Knight still suffers when driving the bat mobile around. This game has it's issues performance wise, still, but it's at least fairly consistent.
Another excellent video, thanks guys. Leadbetter needs to hire Try full time. Dude is alpha af. Especially with the rise of scalers, mini consoles, etc!!
Batman Arkham Origins is the quintessential Batman experience. Batman was a detective/vigilante at his base. The adding of detective work in game was what the series needed to complete the franchise's set. Moving forward more detective work is needed and I understand that some people are turned off by any learning curve or what's unfamiliar, but Origins had everything needed to make a Batman game.... Batman.
Arkham Origins is the undeservingly overlooked title in the Arkham series. I think it's every bit as good as City and comes with better character models(no more Gears of War reject faces) and a deformable snow shader! Also runs fantastically on the Deck.
sigh, no day one patch, where I got stuck on a ledge. I had to wait for a week till it was patched into accessible, but then later I fell into the world map into endless void. OH! It'd be Christmas if it had those bugs! Fun video.
Not as good as Rocksteady's games, but I enjoyed it. However it was really buggy at launch. I remember I got completely stuck at one point, completely unable to leave a room you were meant to be able to leave via an air duct; grapnel prompt didn't work IIRC.
Sadly, not just at launch. I played it 3 or 4 years after release and it was still buggy AF. Crashed my 360 several times. The devs refused to fix the game and just moved on.
@joelmonteiro1419 I played the digital version on PS3 and it had issues also. Characters not spawning in I needed to finish 100% the game. Also because it was the digital version lots of hitching and asset streaming issues. I found using a SSD just fixes a lot of the PS3's issues today.
@@WllKiedSnake on the 360 I remember a recurring bug loop that was impossible to advance from. I was lucky enough to have kept a save from a couple of hours before it and restarted from there.
@joelmonteiro1419 Yeah! The game has or had bugs where you can get stuck in certain rooms and you can't advanced the game forward. You have to trick the game to make characters appear also in places. More to do with side quests these odditys show up. At launch the game was a mess! And even the main games story couldn't move forward because of bugs like that. It's much better now. But some bugs do remain and can pop up.
Man this game was and is so underappreciated. Perhaps one of THE most underappreciated. Forgotten in its own series' collections. Poor WB Montreal, they do good work (I also enjoy Gotham Knights, though mainly for story and character stuff) Actually I'm secretly hoping Gotham Knights get re-evaluated a bit if Suicide Squad flops. With how it handles levels and loot while still staying true to characters. Probably not...
Is it me or does the WII version miss that that hint above enemy head when they are about to attack. That's kinda of a core mechanic to get those strings bonusses
Strange how this game looks cartoonish? At least Batman in the Wii U. Is like he is using cell shading or something. Those Wii U ports are wild. Anw, MERRY CHRISTMAS.
I'm playing with resolution set at 3840x2160p well over 100fps on PC 40 series RTX. The only thing about Origins is the combat feels more tiring in some of the larger fights. Get tired of the input button commands constant countering etc compared to other Arkham games. Idk maybe its been too long for me since playing. But yes I stil have to finish Origins and Arkham Knight. I'm glad I waited for the best version and mods on PC. HD texture pack for Arkham Knight is amazing.

This game has it's issues performance wise, still, but it's at least fairly consistent.
yess I remember you guys talking about this in the direct weekly. how this should of been in the switch pack instead of knight
Thanks for spotlighting this gem! This and GTA 4 need a modern version available 😢
Another excellent video, thanks guys. Leadbetter needs to hire Try full time. Dude is alpha af.
Especially with the rise of scalers, mini consoles, etc!!
So, deus ex 360 cutscenes looked worst than the engine because it was on ue3?
Batman Arkham Origins is the quintessential Batman experience. Batman was a detective/vigilante at his base. The adding of detective work in game was what the series needed to complete the franchise's set. Moving forward more detective work is needed and I understand that some people are turned off by any learning curve or what's unfamiliar, but Origins had everything needed to make a Batman game.... Batman.
Arkhan Origins deserves more love. Roger craig smith and troy baker were also fantastic as Batman and Joker respectively.
what a treat ❤
I would love a proper video of you guys analyzing each individual version of Batman Arkham origins.
Heck Arkham City with the Wii u versions alone
Arkham Origins is the undeservingly overlooked title in the Arkham series. I think it's every bit as good as City and comes with better character models(no more Gears of War reject faces) and a deformable snow shader! Also runs fantastically on the Deck.
Fun Fact: Arkham Knight has no cape physics. An animator spent one and a half years creating over 700 unique cape animations
sigh, no day one patch, where I got stuck on a ledge. I had to wait for a week till it was patched into accessible, but then later I fell into the world map into endless void.
OH! It'd be Christmas if it had those bugs! Fun video.
Spurred by the Armature talk, I did some quick googling. I had forgotten/never knew they were bought by Meta.
Literally I was playing this game on Christmas.
Man this game was and is so underappreciated. Perhaps one of THE most underappreciated. Forgotten in its own series' collections. Poor WB Montreal, they do good work (I also enjoy Gotham Knights, though mainly for story and character stuff)
Actually I'm secretly hoping Gotham Knights get re-evaluated a bit if Suicide Squad flops. With how it handles levels and loot while still staying true to characters. Probably not...
3:28 wow an actual EVP captured on video!
Just started replaying this on PS3 five days ago 👌
You will have a lot of streaming and hitching issues playing this game on PS3 off a HDD. Play it off a SSD and you are sorted. Game even runs better.
Play it on pc
It's actually tragic how WB Montreal went from this to Gotham Knights, and similarly Rocksteady from the Arkham trilogy to Suicide Squad 💀💀
Wow a new df retro plays for Xmas thanks John and Try! Merry Christmas!
I recently got it on PS3 and im planning on playing it soon :)
The lack of texture detail does look weird on Batman’s suit
I'm playing with resolution set at 3840x2160p well over 100fps on PC 40 series RTX. The only thing about Origins is the combat feels more tiring in some of the larger fights. Get tired of the input button commands constant countering etc compared to other Arkham games. Idk maybe its been too long for me since playing. But yes I stil have to finish Origins and Arkham Knight. I'm glad I waited for the best version and mods on PC. HD texture pack for Arkham Knight is amazing.
