there is better thing to doo....flip plastic key from your main key, remove plastic cover on drivers door hitch, unlock door and open hood by hood lever inside car...
and if u are not able to open the hood from inside ? this happened to me because the cable was freezed ( outside temp -10 C or lower ) . but mine was an audi so this trick probably would never work, but anyway . i just ask some people help to pull me 10 meters :D and then i drive 1000 km without turning off the motor and then get it fixed.
If it is a Skoda and you can get into the car, but can't open the passenger door to pull the bonnet catch, the lever for the catch at the passenger door will bend, just enough, over the passenger door to allow you to open the bonnet. Edit. I'm talking about right hand drive in the UK. If its left hand drive it will be on the drivers side.

unfortunately doesn't work on my 2001 B5.5 Those crafty devil German engineers routed the release cable along the engine side of the radiator, so I couldn't get to it. However, now I know how to route a secret release cable for my own personal use on my car :)

I have a b5 so I'm not sure if this is a B6 thing or a euro market thing but if my battery is dead I can get into my car no problem just use manual key unlocking and hood unlatching is all mechanical. Now if my key wasnt working then you might as well be getting a key that isnt broken so you can actually start the thing after your repair/maintenance.

Dário. Esse carro têm volante do lado direito, logo o cabo vem da direita e passa por baixo da fechadura do capot. Carros com volante a esquerda não consegue ter acesso ao cabo.
Or you can just unlock the driverside door manually with the key and then open the hood. I have done it many times on my Golf MK5 and it shouldnt be any problem to do it the same way on this Passat either.
@@MujoRamic from my experience the alarm is not always gonna go off. ive seen alot of people break into cars with no alarm. (i lived in a very sketchy area)
If you know something about cars, you know that nearly all models have alarm and if you try to open the bonnet and the car is locked , the alarm will turn on.

2010 Passat. Can't find a cable. Pretty sure it's not supposed to hang down like yours. Spare key doesn't work. Turns 90 degrees both ways but nothing happens. I suspect something is draining my battery. It's empty after 2 weeks. And it's a new battery.

Could be a pipe which goes to the central locking pump. You need to take off the door pannel and check the pipe or the wiring
