Thanks for this review. Now 17 hours in, I‘m sooo in love with this game. From the elegant and practical menues, the amazing soundtrack (the title synth tune gave me goosebumps when starting the game for the first time), the slick and fun battle system, the brilliant idea of stacking battles, the beautiful dioramas (which will make this game age much better than FF7), the poetic story sequence drawings, to a so far beautiful and engaging story. I seriously cannot find any flaws. This is a love letter to turn-based JRPGs, full of heart and soul.
@@k31n3rd4 The whole playthrough took me 22 hours, I love taking my time, grinded a lot, needed to repeat some boss fights (especially the last one). Even didn‘t do quite a few quests :D And yes, part two cannot come soon enough.
@@ceruleanx5364 I‘d take a new story from Sakaguchi over another Square attempt of milking that cow any day. Fantasian is my better FF7 fix in 2021 than any remake can ever be.
OMG, this is like discovering original FF VII but in 2021! Just spent first 30mins in the game and I’m absolutely stunned. This is so much MORE than for example the FF VII Remake (which I’ve enjoyed too). Absolutely lovong the art style and sound direction!
I recently got my first ever mac, this gives me a nice excuse to try out the free trial of Arcade. Hoping for a physical release down the line on Switch.
Will never happen. Apple paid for the development of the game (and the rest of the games on AA). That’s akin to hoping for a release of Zelda on Playstation. That’s why the apps have no ads or in app purchases in the arcade. They need more of this kind of content for sure, but they are still pretty new.
Thank you for your wonderful review it makes playing the game even mor joyful knowing a bit more of its background. Funny is that your only complaint doesn’t even apply to me, because I play on an iPhone which is by touch and amazing :)
Great game so far (15 hours or so). I'm pleased to know that Part 2 will be more quest driven since Part 1 is indeed very story driven ; the game'll be almost perfect than. I've the issue with the camera too, but only with a controller, the game works great with touch control, and I almost prefer to play it on my phone or ipad. Nevertheless I play it most on Apple TV since it's a true console experience with a controller, like Oceanhorn 2 or The Pathless. I'm using my Apple TV4K a lot more than my other devices in the past few months...
I plan on doing it soon. Right now, I'm in the middle of an sizable editing project. Though it probably won't be a big deal, I've editing long enough to know better than to upgrade OSs in the middle of a project. I'll get there. Right I've got Oceanhorn 2, Catquest 2, What the Golf!, Various Daily Life, and a handful of others to keep me busy in my "down time."
@@silentrocco I haven't start it yet. Still playing Oceanhorn 2. I was thinking of playing What the Golf next, then Catquest 2 after that before moving onto VDL.

To get around how disorienting controls are when the camera moves to a different angle, just let your controller go back to neutral or lift your finger off the screen each time. It’ll reset the orientation of your character. Love this game!
Never had Apple Arcade so i don not know about the rest of the games, but looking at Fantasian, it seems to use "God Rays" for the sunlight moving in real time... not unlike what the ps3 does. Furthermore it seems this game is shirting from 3D tabletop to side angle view quite often in environments which is impressive.The game looks like an HD version of Chaos rings 3 in battles, but as i don't own arcade, i can't say if the game is full HD 3D
@ Danny b I don’t know but considering you need 2GB ram to play and my iPhone 8 which is two generations above yours, can play it then I would say yes as A9 vs A11 isn’t a big jump
This a great game. Re: controls and changing camera angles, the touch controls are a great alternative. Only gripe I have that I hope they fix is the Apple Pencil has sluggish response in the game when moving the character.
I got stuck when meeting the first(?) Mechteria Blob. I don't normally play this type of games, so that might be the problem. :D (iMac 27"). Humbly, Ylan

I think this game looks brilliant and like always I want to play it. I just find these things so dull and can’t get into them. Like a good novel I feel like I’m missing out but I’ll give it a go. Maybe thins time.

@ Felix Some exclusivity deals for games never make it to other platforms like Uncharted series is only for PlayStation, The last of Us Series is only for PlayStation Is doubtful mist walker would port this to Switch because of Apples exclusivity
Apple singlehandedly paid the making of this game. So, without them, it wouldn’t even exist. So many exclusive titles on all other systems, yet when it happens on mobile it‘s a crime.

We do not know the deets of their contract with Apple or what other publishers were willing to financially contribute. Besides, some of the greatest rpgs ever created were built on Hironobu Sakaguchi's and Nobuo Uematsu's DNA. I believe Fantasian could have found great success via crowfunding on sites like Kickstarter. There's over 425,000 mobile games available on just Google Play alone. We're talking 1000s on 1000s of exclusive mobile titles that people take no issue with

Look it was paid and made for Apple Arcade exclusively, therefore Apple either will never let to go because they are the publishers or if the exclusivity does end, they’ll either get another one or it’ll just go on the regular AppStore
So far it’s extremely dull. It’s a beautiful world but doesn’t mix well with the simple 3D characters. Again I really appreciate the work done and the music is great but it’s repetitive and the story is dull.
The JRPG story is seriously asinine and cliche and the main character looks neither female or male which makes it somewhat unsettling. Playing on an M1 iMac at 4K the backgrounds look about the resolution that the original Playstation put out which means very poor which makes a striking contrast with the ultra sharp low poly characters. It LOOKS like a playstation game - namely FFVII or Resident Evil 1.
@ Amuro Dude phones nowadays are capable of Xbox 360 level of graphics since 2018 l..at least for Apple devices. This game is inferior even To Nobleman 1886 from 2017

I loved it from the first minute. It gives me Chrono Cross vibes.

Various Daylife is the soul- and lifeless opposite of Fantasian. You are really enjoying this game?

Nope it’s only Apple exclusive.. or until It’s exclusivity is over. And even then it might stay on Arcade and never come to Android or PC

Couldn’t disagree more. The game looks and plays fantastic on my iPad Pro 11”. The real backgrounds look phenomenal as well.
