As long as it makes you happy, I think it's great! It's awesome to see you have so much joy and passion for the hobby. Many people collect many different kinds of things, and it is never pointless as long as they are enjoying themselves and enjoy sharing that happiness with others. I don't think collecting a full set is ever something that I would want to do (maybe a full set of a specific game franchise or something, but not a whole set for a console), but I'm always happy to see someone else complete their collections. Keep doing what you love!
I’m 52, just started collecting my PAL format of N64, the reason is that I want to relive the old games that were so much fun to play, as we get older we forget to have fun, we are so caught up with life, bills, work, family. Another reason is because I work and can afford it.. Remember everyone, never forget to have fun.
I was just saying this to someone the other day but in the end “everyone who collects should do it however they want too. And should do what makes them happy.” It’s no one else’s business what someone else spends their money and time on. For me personally the reason I am chasing two sets is because I am most nostalgic for these systems. I doubt once I am finished that I will chase any other sets. The NES and N64 were the two systems that I feel defined me as a gamer when I was younger.
Exactly! Everyone collects a little different. Thats the joy of it. Plus I love seeing everyone’s passion for these systems as they collect. Nothing wrong with that.
I say do whatever makes you happy! I'm thankful there are collectors that enjoy full collections for game preservation and its truly cool to see. It's not my thing personally but I do see the value in it.
Absolutely! I love how different everyone is and how people enjoy different things. It’s always nice to see the different collections and personalities behind it all.
Absolutely on target! If you enjoy what you are playing, whose to say the game isn't good or worth owning. I personally believe that if a person likes a set or more, they should add those to their collection and experience ALL that a console has to offer. As for owning a lot of complete libraries, I would caution anyone who thinks that somehow that will get them noticed or attract attention. Collectors should focus on what THEY like on not necessarily on what any one else cares about. For me, I have a museum, the Console Purist Museum, but I can assure you that if I did not wish to share my collection with others, I would not have as many complete libraries as I do. In the end, as long as you are enjoying each game you buy, more power to you. However, if you are buying games because so and so will think it is cool, you'll soon tire of your collection.
Oh exactly!! You have such an amazing collection! Full set collecting isn’t for everyone but for some of us it’s fun and rewarding. Definitely learned about so many games along the way.
Collecting games made it open up to genres and experiences i never would have if i just stuck to the TOP titles on a console. The LEGO video games never appealed to me until I started collecting them and then played one....got me hooked. I didnt care much for JRPGS besides the big brands like final fantasy but researching to complete collections made me see there is ALOT more out there then I knew and alot of them are really good!
For someone that has several complete sets, I find it to be a nice goal to achieve and feels amazing once it's complete. As of now, I'm going for a complete NA Game Gear set. Still up in the air about completing several other consoles: Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, and Atari Jaguar CD.
I personally don't see anything wrong with going for a full library of games. Preservation is a key component and I wholeheartedly agree that letting reviewers dictate what you buy and don't buy is a bad thing. Buy what you want. Play what you want. As for me, I am one of those crazy collectors going for full libraries. I have 4 complete, 13 with two or less games missing, and 17 more that I lack less than 20. 😁
I can only totally agree with what you say in this video :) I completed the N64 PAL fullset CIB back in 2009, then bought some games here and there and started to focus on completing fullsets since 2016. As of today, I have 8 fullsets, 2 close to the end and some more in the pipeline for the next years ^^ I collect fullsets to be able to show what's been released on a system in a particular region (or in the world), to keep track of a part of video games history. I know I've spent hundreds or thousands of euros on pure craps and missed on some very good games on systems I don't collect for (especially PlayStations and handhelds) but it's a choice I made being aware of the "consequences" and I don't regret it. Making a list of what's been released, gathering the "easy games" quickly then looking everyday on the Internet for the rarest ones, finding them one by one until the end, it's something so enjoyable many people can't understand. But I clearly understand people who don't understand me and my way of collecting ^^
Yes! Thats amazing. Sounds like you have an awesome collection too. Just have to have fun with it and enjoy it. That’s great advice! Very cool to hear what you think on the topic too. Thank you for your input!
I think it all depends on what kind of collector you are and how much time/space/money you have. I would never consider it under some life circumstances, but if I had more space and money to do it I would consider it. Collect in the way that makes you most happy!
honestly, if you have the space and the money and you enjoy preserving videogames than who is anyone to tell you what to do? since everything is going digital and more and more everyday corporations are trying to take game ownership away from us gamers, collecting these games in there entirety for their respective platform is a good thing. not to mention it gives you hell of bragging rights in the gaming community!
IMO, full-set collecting is a bedfellow of hoarding. It is unhealthy, but then so is a lot of other fun stuff. Ultimately; it's up to the individual. I say, exercise restraint. Get what you want, but don't get stuff you'll never use just to "have it". Don't go overboard. Your wallet, and general mental health will thank you for it.
@@n64fan60 That may be true for some or even most people but definitely not true for me. Some people have larger goals or things planned for their collections. But yes some people go overboard when they can’t afford to or even handle.
I personally didn’t start going for a full set of NTSC PS1 titles until about 3 years ago. PS1 is my favorite system and there are so many titles I missed out on growing up, so I’m going to play them all! (Slowly but surely, RPGs take awhile). People have different reasons for going for full sets: the thrill of the hunt, having that nostalgia in the gameroom, to play, etc. Collectors collect how it suites them best. People shouldn’t worry about what other people are doing with their time and money in regards to retro games.
Exactly! And that’s so true. They do take a while but hey you get the most out of the game that way. Sounds like an amazing goal and one day that’ll be awesome to see. I agree with that. Everyone is different and people shouldn’t judge! That can be said with more than just games too. lol.
I totally agree with you. It is all about the experience and memory when collecting what you love. I have complete set of Japanese N64 games, and whenever I look at them, they bring me the joyful memory on how I collected them. No one can decide what you like, other than yourself. Great video and thank you for giving the opportunity to share the thoughts!
Oh absolutely! I agree with that. And that’s amazing. It’s so great that it brings you joy! Nothing can change that. That’s why I just don’t listen to the haters! Everyone should live their best life!
@@GamerAhmer This advice will be hard to accept at first. It was for me. I couldn't let go of my collection but I did for someone. I even felt sad and empty afterwards but now I'm glad I did. The experience of hunting down three variant covers of wii-fit or anything for your collection is an addiction, a drug, a mental sickness, a temporary enjoyment and also a pointless activity. You belong in a twilight zone episode to wake up and learn the enjoyment of helping others. That plastic and cardboard is empty and will never bring you true happiness. That's why so many collectors get to the end of the journey and wake up from the matrix. Watch: Why I sold my collection videos. The blind devotion to plastic, treasure hunting, wanting more and more, is keeping your dopamine levels up and it's giving you the temporary pleasure feeling. Then you need more and more plastic, but you are never satisfied. My advice is to seek out someone who can better explain what I'm saying and watch those videos! 🙂
Keep the collection going!!! I totally agree with saving these games from the scapyards!! Keep the physical games alive!!!! My collection is ever slowly growing with me and my wife!!
I think as long as gamers have that passion for whatever they want to collect rather full sets or not full sets It's wonderful. I love having a big collection made up of smaller collections. Cool video. ^_^
I loved everything you had to say because its all true. I love collecting but the only full set I'm going for is the Sega Dreamcast set because that's where my is.
For me it's the research that goes into it, and finding games you never knew existed that turn out to be great, or finding some of the last true hidden gems for older consoles. Even though I don't go for a full set, I limit myself to games I would play or I find interesting so I can always play it when I want, the way it was mean to be played.
Nice video! As someone who has 4 complete sets and close to another 3 I understand full set collecting. That being said most of my games were acquired in the late 90s and early 2000s when prices were actually cheap. There is no way I could complete a set today unless you have a lot of disposable income. The reality is every set has a number of really high end games that you just won’t find for cheap. If you have the $ to spend then all the power to you :)
Oh definitely! It was much easier to find things back before the boom. It’s not impossible just have to really focus on deals, trading, and budgeting. I definitely miss the days where things were much cheaper! And that sounds like an awesome collection!
@@GamerAhmer I do wish game companies would release video game collections of old games from different console generations & arcade games for consoles like TMNT cowabunga collection & like Marvel Vs Capcom fighting collection . Put all classic and even bad games that had more than one game release on a disc so that us can enjoy them. Only physical games. I don’t like digital games because companies delist games & we lose of on money and games . I’ve been gaming since the early 90s.
I used to enjoy going for full sets but recently I've changed my mind. I think it's rad when other collectors go for full sets though. Just personally wasn't enjoying it anymore.
And that’s ok! Collecting is different for everyone and each person makes it unique to them. That makes it even better! Have to enjoy whatever you do. Thanks for watching! :)
Definitely wouldn’t call it pointless. So long as you know it’s what you want. I know for my N64 collection, the ones I know I will never play I get as cheaply as possible. So I’ll get them slightly damaged or incomplete if it is much cheaper then restore them myself. I got a lot of N64 games dirt cheap this way, and I still even saved money by restoring the damaged cartridges myself. There’s also the act of game preservation. It tells story, a history of days gone by
Honestly reading all these comments from full set collectors has kind of changed my opinion on full set collecting. The task itself sounds incredibly fun. The actual process would be the best part I think. I wouldnt want to hold onto them once finished, nor do I have the space or money for it, but for people who want to do it, I can understand it a lot better now see how it would be fun with the right attitude (and plenty of patience, space and money ;)
Set collecting for me is absurd. At best, I would root for someone who collects the entire set aside from those 1 or 2 titles that are pushing $500+. Having 99.9% of a collection is still a major accomplishment and financially it would be smart not to waste $1,000s on one game that you'll never play more than an hour of.
It’s definitely not for everyone. I feel like if someone wants to do that though it’s their call. I have other plans than just having my games sit in my basement game room so it’s different for me. I can’t speak on everyone else though. 🤷🏻♀️
Love your videos. My collection is almost exclusively Wii, a little over 300 titles now. Not one Mario not one Zelda not one Sonic not one Kirby. The Wii stands alone, there is every other game console and then there is the Wii. I do play and have played all of my games but time is of the essence. Also have a Game Boy Advance and a DS. With that combination it means that I can buy games for the Wii, the GameCube, the DS, the Game Boy Advance and the Game Boy and Game Boy Color. That is a huge available library that I have no intention of completing. I play Wii games right! BTW Overkill rocks!!! Keep up the great work guys, always watching 👍
I dont give a crap what people say. If you love video games and you decide to spend your money on that and have collection thats the person decisions. People collect to resale or to play and save it for future generations
Yeah i'd say if you have a reason and passion for collecting full sets then by all means, go for it. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't enjoy. I don't really have the space for full sets so I'm just trying to re-buy the games I had 20+ years ago + a few that I missed. Think I'll be happy with that :)
I'm someone who doesnt think its worth it to collect full sets. Yes its cool to be able to say "I have the complete set", and there is some historical value certainly. It's also nice knowing you have access to every single game, and can play or reference it whenever. However, for most people, those benefits just aren't worth the money, time, and space needed. Probably the biggest deterrent for me is that, except for the sake of completing a set, many of those games I would be ashamed to own because they are just plain bad, and i dont want to play them or just dont care about them/ have any connection to them (and neither does anyone else I know). That's probably because I collect to have the games I loved as a kid, and the games I would have loved but never even knew existed. I also collect the games I love as an adult. Also, even if I dont play it, knowing I can whenever I want is part of the fun. Having the physical items to display is also pretty neat. I think full set collecting is a cool goal if you understand why you're doing it and it's not just an excuse to keep buying. If you have the time, money, and space, its up to you if it's worth it. There is definitely a cool factor to that, but the utility/value vs resource cost to the person is going to vary. I think most people confuse the fun of getting things with the fun of owning them/using them. Most collectors I know enjoy the getting (and the process of working towards a goal), more than the owning/using. The people who understand this the least end up hitting a significant time, space, or money constraint and have a reckoning with their habits. However, that's not to say I think full set collecting is bad. Honestly the joy of tackling a large goal like that, the fun of hunting all those games down, and having all the memories of when, where, and how you found them (and the surprise of unexpected deals), sounds like incredible fun. But I personally don't have a good enough reason to do it, nor the patience, space, or money for it lol. At the end of the day collecting is a hobby like any other, people do it for all sorts of reasons and they enjoy different parts of it in different amounts. Do what makes you happy! Lastly, let me leave you with a quote that changed how I look at large collections (especially collections so large the person will never play it all, or even most of it). Just change the word book to videogame: “It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones. "There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion. "If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the 'medicine closet' and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That's why you should always have a nutrition choice! "Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.” -Umberto Eco
I didn’t get about collecting a full set for a console. My first experience was a UA-camr by the name of Retro Ghetto who did complete the European WiiU set and of course led to MrWrightWay with his North American Wii U set. It made them happy to go on a journey to see if it was possible. At that time it was, but as time marches on it will become a little more difficult. I wanted to complete some collections, but I’m doing it in a small way. About two years ago, I decided to get all of the unlicensed Tengen NES games at least in loose condition. If I get the manual, I’m fine with that, but CIB might be more than my bank account will allow. As of this past weekend I added another one, and now I only need 4 to complete it. My issue is their version of Tertris is a bit expensive so that’s going to be tricky to get that for cheap. We will see how this goes with that game, but there are a couple of others I don’t have that are just as challenging to find and those prices are reasonable for the most part.
Woah! Thats awesome. Thats a great way to do it. Collect something that you want. It’s unfortunate that prices are so high on things but for some people who started so long ago it wasn’t as bad. Wish I started sooner but I’m lucky to still find those deals even now.
When you buy a digital game, you’re buying a license to get access the game they could remove that game from your account at any time you buy physical game you own it forever
Why not? You can do with your money as you wish! People spend money on many hobbies, so what? Some people blow their money on pot and spend the weekend baked, good for them. To me it's a waste but not for them...to each their own
True . My household plays a lot of video games we have most systems including a sim rig and vewlix candy cab . The other night I was trying to get my son to sit down with me.At the arcade machine and play something. He told me that he didn't want to cause it was boring. Ouch . Still doesn't keep me from looking for a new arcade machine. Or old PC b's. Yeah I could just get right on fightcade .
Collecting at all can be pointless to some people. With everdrives and odes do you really need to have all the physical carts and discs? It all depends on the individual. Not everyone collects the same way. A lot of us like to have the game on hand. There is something about going to the shelf, grabbing the game, and putting it in the console and playing.
There is also enjoying the physical form of it, the art, the design choices and publisher info. Besides the shelf eye candy, there is just something far more appealing to reading the back of a game box and seeing the developers, publishers, copyright dates etc., and starting to learn from there, rather than looking it up on my computer.
I think there's hobbies out there that are crazy and potentially wastes of time, but that's largely because I don't understand the joy it brings that person. Those who don't see the joy of set collecting should have an open mind! There can be so many reasons people go for full-collections. As long as they know what that really means to them and what it's going to cost (in all aspects), why make a big deal out of it? Go get that collection and I hope those going for complete sets enjoy the journey!
Exactly! I love how gaming can be so diverse and we all can have something different to offer. Everyone has different interests and it’s great. Definitely fine with those who go for sets and those who don’t. As long as people are passionate about something.
It’s a factory error cart. Over the years quite a few have popped up for different games. It’s definitely a neat piece for sure! Makes it worth a bit more because it was never caught in quality control. But authentic!
Sometimes the junk has is own value. Like watching a bad movie which is entertaining precisely Because its bad. Its less applicable to videogames but there is still some meta utility to it. Plus, every "bad" game has someone who loves it. My favorite games are considered 6 or 7/10 by most people, because the things I love about them FAR outweigh the flaws, to me. And thats not nostalgia, some are very recent games. I just can overlook the flaws because the good parts appeal to me that much.
Some excellent points made I'm collecting the full PAL library for N64 (cartridge only) I'm at 81 games so far I'm hoping to be at 150+ by the end of the year 🤞
I think I roll my eyes at complete set collectors lately because Its just a means to flip it for cash. Which might be a matter of space, but optically looks like your just treating the games as cash investments rather than a hobby. It garners a bit of distrust when mentioned. Something strange with Gamer Ahmer's Super R type label. 4:34 Misprint? Still arguably going for a set collection makes you more focused in your hunting. So there might be an honest edge there. Nice bringing up lower rated and unknown games, divergeing from the popular games, and making your own selections does keep collecting interesting. You'll certainly have a more personal experience.
Oh I definitely get that point. I have no intention of selling mine. One day they will be donated somewhere. I’m not in it to make a profit. Some people sell and move onto other things. And I’ve definitely seen that. And yes! A factory error. A cool misprint piece in the collection. And absolutely! Just having fun exploring new to me games! Great points for sure!
I wouldn't personally go for a full set only because I have other things going on but I 100% understand why somebody would. It's the thrill like you said. And if you're having fun doing it, that's all the reason ya need. If I went for a full set myself I'd go for a smaller library like the Neo Geo Pocket or something :P
I might be an amateur at the collecting games and systems genre, still this is by far the most impressive collection Ive seen. Do you have many Neo Geo games?
Oh I appreciate that! And I have a couple Neo Geo Cd games with the system. I have at least 10 AES games with a system. And a boxed Neo Geo pocket color with a couple games. I’ve just picked them up as I’ve seen them but only for decent deals. That’s why it’s a “smaller” collection.
I unironically loved that movie. It was clearly a B film, but to the kid me, it was amazing. It's weird to hear people trash it nowadays, cause I always thought it was a good film lol.
If you want to collect a whole set of something, have at it. I generally only collect the games I want to play, as they take up space, and I only have so much in my life. I have enough physical media in my life, and am content with what I own. I am good with having roms as I past the point of being a purist. I have a couple Arcade 1up machines I've modded and put tons of games on them. I've been probably building things more than I have been gaming these days.
Oh absolutely! Space is always an issue! Thats cool that you can mod and do all of that. Definitely a great skill to have. And I agree. Definitely some valid points for some collectors.
Hello there , this is very simple it’s like collecting art 🖼️ is the same . If you buy a very expensive art work to put it on the wall. And both collecting is a good investment.
I usually spend $30 a week on games. Most of the games I own cost less than $5. I have quite a lot. But I don't consider myself a collector. I just like playing video games.
I only go for a full sub-set of a genre fx. I have all the Need for Speed games for PlayStation (from PS1 to PS5) fx. There's other sub-set's I'll be going for in the future. But never a full set of a console library.
Sometimes games that others assume are shovelware, can actually be fun. I've recently been playing Speedy Gonzales on SNES. It's a Sonic clone, but it's fun.
I have been putting together Arcade 1ups and throwing tons of games on them and sharing them with different people. It's always interesting to see what each persons go to games are. It's never the same answers as my brother ask me let his friend see my games, and she wanted to play Bart's Nightmare on Snes for instance. Not a game I'd really want to play again, but she was all about playing it again. So many older adults really love Ms Pacman. They might not be gamers, but they all know and love that game.
For me, I prefer to collect games based on stuff I enjoy. I know the Petz games are considered shovel ware by some, but I collect them because I love virtual pets, even if they don't always provide a lot of content. I've been working on collecting Japanese DS games, mainly ones that were never localized because I have a fascination with Japanese media and I use these to help myself learn the language. I do collect some Japanese games on the Game Boy systems as well (I've mainly been interested in the Starfy games since we only got the DS one, and it looks similar to one of my favorite game series, Kirby), but the DS has the most educational content to help me learn the language, especially since it has games aimed towards preschoolers. I would collect Japanese games for the 3DS as well, but unfortunately, that system has region lock, so until I can get a Japanese 3DS, I'm sticking with DS. The Sega Pico is another one I've thought about collecting for, but I need the system first which I saw is region free. It didn't do well in America, but it was successful in Japan, so it got a lot of games exclusive there including Disney ones which I find shocking. I've been interested in it since I learned about the two Sonic games on it which are both oddities to the classic era in a way. Tails and the Music Maker is one of three games Tails has ever starred in and is one of the only games to use his American design, also it has mini games related to making music. Sonic Game World is a series of mini games and is one of the only few classic games from the 90s where Amy is playable, plus it's the only time this version of her has been voiced aside from her giggle in Sonic CD. I also find it interesting how these games double as interactive books. From what I've seen, it's like the DS before the DS.
Exactly! So many fun games whether other people enjoy them or not. Thats a great point! And very cool. So many great games that we never got here. Would love to experience some of those myself. And the sega pico got so many great releases over in Japan. It’s wild! Just learning so much about these games over the years and really enjoying them makes this hobby so much fun!
I completely understand and hate to come across as somewhat sour but i dont intend to, I call myself an ex collector these days, i did have a PAL (UK) full set dreamcast amongst over 2000 other varied titles back when i was at my peak in my 20s, I play old games, i have a selection of old titles that are still good games knowing they are not going to be released in a different form, from my experience (and over 20 years of it, started at 9) even if you show it off to others, most people aint gonna get it and just think "cool" but on that note, thats kinda the point of youtube, everyone loves a stack of games lined up as just the image is sweet, but owing all of it is another story, its for certain people, I was one of them, but its just a pastime for me. Still its one of the few hobbies that when life changes and desires change you will always get a kickback off it if needs must. just the thought of collecting in japan makes me sweat due to space, its not impossible, but to have it out the way is a different story, and its not going to give you a kickback over here compared to across the pond. For me, i play the games i want, typically if i feel that im going to be sad with lost save data then its unlikely its a game to keep, and im not affraid to get rid of something i dont wish to play after a certain period of time, nostalgia does not drive me, just games that are fully functional. if we cant be content that we have had our fun of certain games and to let them go, then its just hard to find other things to appreciate in life. But this is just me of course, I know there are plenty people out there who have different lifestyles and wont rest until they have a warehouse they call home.
Oh those are all valid points. It’s interesting hearing about all of the stories of collectors and people who used to collect. It’s definitely not for everyone and some people only “collect” for a while until things change for them. It really just depends on the person and why they do it. Some enjoy playing the games, others enjoy learning, some enjoy the hunt of finding them, some have a greater purpose for it all. I love hearing so many different stories and the differences of everyone.
My ideal deal of physical media Is to keep my Collections small and premium Otherwise if I start collecting everything , I would be a hoarder I've experienced that nightmare I've just moved in across the street with over two hundred and 220 NES video game cartridges. I didn't want to get rid of none of them I was too obsessed. I could have got rid of half ofthem cartridges back then and replaced it with even better games. If I get rid of half my collection now for each system it would hurt my collection. So I keep it small and premium
@@GamerAhmer To have all those Nintendo 64 like you do must be wonderful and insane as well. It must be really nice to have all those. I'm proud of your collection! 🎛🔉🎵🎮🤘🤩🎧📺🎚🔊🎶 GAME ON
@@demonology2629 Thank you!! I appreciate that. I’m lucky to have found them way before they had value. Back in the day people were just giving things away at these cheaper prices.
@GamerAhmer Back in the day, people didn't realize That, old saying, "Don't know what you got till it's gone!" Everybody just thought video games was going to get better and better and better but it actually didn't... When they did away with the cartridge format, I lost a lot of interest. In most of CD formats, I came from a generation where you hooked. That awesome CD unit to the cartridge untill ithey done away with cartridges. They lost me, I still like CD systems but i'm not gonna buy a bunch of them unless it's retro... GOLDEN HEART FOR YOU BACK! 💛 Thank you
My hat is off to you and those who want complete sets of videogames. However, I've decided that Everdrives are my solution to playing ALL available games via ROM's on original hardware. Not to mention, I refuse to pay $16-55K for a loose copy of Stadium Events for the NES!!! Love you channel, Brandi!!!
Exactly! Some of the prices are insane. I probably won’t get stadium events but the rest I will try to find. Definitely makes it easier to play games when they are all on everdrives.
@@GamerAhmer Yeah you gotta have lines in the sand on some of these things. Some things just aren't worth owning unless you win the lotto or some other bonus scenario. I played Skylanders with my nieces and nephews for a bunch of years and I ended up with a good chunk of the collection just picking things up as they came out. I went completed a collection of all the mass produced ones I was missing a few years back just because I thought might as well have the full set. The majority I was missed weren't too bad as I only paid higher prices on a handful of them. I wasn't about to go buy all the ones that were extremely limited at events that are massively expensive. I was good with having all the figures and variants that were sold in stores. I grabbed a couple rare ones I wanted but I wasn't going spend a forture on getting each possible one. The figure still looks the same in the game, so not that cool from that standpoint. My youngest nephew just realized I had them, and is now into them, so I am still getting my use them despite no newer games are coming out. I got the collection I wanted out of it all and I can always cash out for way more than I ever put into later.
I’m 28 away from the full North America PlayStation vita set. And it’s broke me I’ll never do another full set. I’ve been working on it for 6 and half years. I just can’t again it’s lots of work and time and money. I kind of wanted the 3rd set but can’t do 1-2k for a Barbie game. I love handhelds and just found out about the supaboy I think I’m going to beef up my snes collection next just not full set it.
Oh I definitely get that. Some of the prices on certain games are insane! Especially ones that shouldn’t be that expensive! And yes the SupaBoy is great!
For me personally it’s pointless. The only system I’m going for a complete set for is Virtual Boy which is only 14 games for North America. Currently I’m missing 3 of them. Other than that I don’t see the point because of the amount of space games take up and I could use that money to focus on games I actually want and intend on playing, rather than than just stuff to put on a shelf. That’s just the kind of collector I am and I have no issues with people who go for complete sets.
Oh very cool! The virtual boy is a fun one! With new ways of playing the games and even having such a small library. I’m a couple games away myself. Very cool!
@@GamerAhmer Oh, don't get me wrong. Being pointless is an absolute positive. It's vital to our mental health to shift focus to things that bring us joy, whether that's fishing on a lake or challenging yourself to find every variant of Cooking Mama. I check every DVD rack and yard sale I come across for the Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai in the 9th Dimension. I _could_ simply go online but I found Dr. Doolittle, Bedazzled, and Planet of the Apes that way. It's jusr a pointless challenge but there's an endorphin rush of the _potential._ (And anyone that immediately understands how that's related to gaming is an uber nerd. [And I mean that in a good way.])
I think if u have the opportunity with enough space and money to collect a full set, then that's your prerogative. I have limited space, so I'm only able to collect the top 50 nes, snes, and n64 games. And I wanted a certain aesthetic with the shelving having 3 rows of custom retro cases housing the games and manuals. Sort of a book shelf style with the end support brackets of each shelf acting like a book end. But if I had enough space for a library, then I would collect a library. All these ppl trying to criticize another's lifestyle have a limited perspective, and shouldn't expect everybody to think like them. I mean, who am I to tell someone how to spend their money? Sure, there are some ppl who make poor financial decisions on buying videogames they can't afford, but ppl do that with everything; not just videogames. U can't group all collectors as irresponsible hoarders b/c some actually have the room and resources to build up a curation that adds value and identity to their living space.
Exactly! Great points here. And space is always an issue. No matter a big or small collection. It seems that space can really limit what people go for. And exactly! People should just have fun and live their best lives!
Totally agree with you 😊 my channel is just for referencing the wii games and people ask me what's the point and the point is you can look up the wii game in the future to see if it was genuine or not save you buying a fake game because belive it or not in the future the wii games even the shuffleware will be expensive and so people will copy them to dupe people and without a reference of the seal or how the disc looked people just won't know plus a list is good too with all the variants etc so you can see what's available. People ask me if I play them? Yes of course when I have time because most of my time is spent sourcing and tying to find out what I can afford this month haha . Good vid 😊
Exactly! And that’s amazing. The Nintendo Wii is such a fun system. I love how different it was back then and how they tried new things. Definitely cool to have the knowledge on it too! That’s amazing
@@GamerAhmer Yea makes me happy to see all the collectors out there just collecting all the great games that we have had, and all the young teenages now getting into it is really great too. I watch Retro Head he is a great new young person who is collecting some great retro items
I understand collecting and I try to just get what I want but since I comited to collect all physical beat em ups for Switch I have picked up good ones and bad ones but thats the journey to find the Great ones maybe there is a more fun beat em up game than sor4 out there 😊 Sor4 might be the best one but for me Slap them all and Shredders revenge are the most fun ones.
@@GamerAhmer theres also a bunch releasing on Steam as well, almost hard to keep up haha. Many are trying different stuff like combining beat em up with point and click adventure style games so Def a new gold era in the genre
For me. Not really attached to the hardware anymore. I have owned most consoles and have build pcs over the decades. For me id have a few games or trinkets that i care about or have an impact on me For example ocarina of time, half life metal gear solid. From soft etc. On the flip side, Inrespect the collection for the purpose of game preservation. Some games are strictly online only and have "died" because of the servers qere shut down. That part sucks. Also, i dont want to hassle with all the stuff to play some.older games. My fat ps3 looks cool but holy hell it is a pain to maintain. I am going to get to a super slim for reliability and easer maintenance. Also emulation runs these games are way better (for the most part) Abyway. Yoy have an awesome collection 😂
Thank you so much! And definitely understand that! Everyone collects and plays a little differently and that’s what I like! I get the whole upkeep on things too. It’s a lot of work that goes into a collection of physical stuff
I'll be honest I don't see the point, but it doesn't mean I don't understand those who do go in for this. Personally I collect full sets for the franchises I love.
Great Super Nintendo Collection! I didn't know about the red gun, how ist the game called? I can't read it. 😅 Look for Lethal Enforcers If you don't own it yet. It comes with the same gun in blue (and is fun). Do you have a Super Scope? Since you wanna know: Sure thing, go for a full set If you can.
Thank you! I’m going for the full set. I have a super scope and all the light gun games I believe. Definitely a fun one for sure. I love Lethal Enforcers in the arcades too. And that game is Metal Combat. It’s fun!
@@GamerAhmer Wow, do you still have arcades in the states? I believe there are none in my area of germany. Gotta try Metal Combat if I come across it, looks fun. Thanks! :)
So you guys are the ones buying my old NES/Sega games on eBay! Im like who the hell is buying my copy of Dr Chaos for NES for $25. Hey I still had the manual too!
The question isn't why you do it, the real question is it entertaining viewing? Some things are a bit personal topic for youtube. Like changing your room around because you run out of space, completing full sets and stuff like that. Its not a spectator sport because there is only personal gain for your collection and wants. If I ever make a channel it will be informative information that others can learn from. Like if you were doing food and you went to a great restaurant, you might go there because you learnt it on youtube, but I fail to see anything a viewer can gain from someone making a full set of videogames, unless your also someone going for a full set, and thats very few people. Obviously, if those types of videos get you big viewing stats you'll go with it. But me myself, i'm looking for games I would be interested in, not expensive titles that make full sets. Just my 2c.
I understand your questions. For me I give reviews on each of the games I’m collecting as the set is being completed. So it’s not just a “I picked up these games and now I’m closer to the set”. I don’t always get the most amount of views on these collection videos I’m just enjoying playing, reviewing, and collecting as I learn more about the system. I’m hoping that maybe someone will see some of the cheaper games I collect and maybe want to try it out. I can’t speak on everyone else but I’m hoping they are also enjoying the games like me.
I really enjoy your videos; your content has inspired me to continue collecting old PlayStation games. This is why I'm keeping my old OG PS3 alive, not just owning the games but actually enjoying playing them. 😊
@@travisv6408 Many systems have more than 50 good titles. There are millions of people out there and everyone enjoys something different. I can play 100s of games for each system and enjoy them all.
As someone who ones before tried to collect a complete catalog of all Playstation 2, GAMECUBE, and OG Xbox full catalog north America released games. I must say that going for full complete sets of any console is completely ridiculous. Just the though of the lost space to put all those games and not to mentioned the vast quantities of garbaged sh!t games that it will embarrassed me to even own such as Barbie, Dora the explorer, and many other garbage games that have no business being a curerated collection, quality over quantity is what made stop collecting for full sets of anything. I rather see gold everywhere I look in my games room than to have a huge crappy low quality of games collection. The whole thing about saying " I have a full set of anything" is very short lived and deep down nobody cares about your full set of games because we all know the vast majority of games on the full set is garbaged. I want pere gold in my collection of games only the best of the best makes it into my game room and I wouldn't have any other way. Having full sets is stupid and ridiculous indeed.
O wow you have a full set of anything? Big deal all the tells me is that you have a bunch of garbaged games you will never want to touched wasting money unnecessarily on garbage games, and cluttered your space with garbage games. Im never impressed by full sets show me the expensive and rare hard to find games that actually hold their valued and enjoyed playing. That flex from full set collectors is laughable to me i almost feel bad for these people with a hoaring issues. Collect gold not cheap garbage. Full sets people make me feel bad for them but o well to each its own I guess.
I don’t have full sets of everything. I have some sets completed and I’m actively collecting games for a few sets. “Garbage” is different for everyone. Some people’s “gold” also differs. If people have fun doing it and have a larger purpose for it all why does it matter?
I remember Figsy completed a full PS3 set - he since sold off a bunch. I think only the younger gamer attempt such feats, then eventual shed their collection as they age. I feel full sets are great if you have a UA-cam channel for game hunting content. I personally only collect games I would consider playing.
Exactly! Very well said. Thank you for watching and for the support! Definitely have to have fun with whatever you do!
Im not going for any full sets yet but i do admire the drive of those who do!! Im sure its alot of work
Oh definitely! It’s fun when it’s something you enjoy doing.
I dont have a problem with people collecting full sets. For me personally I dont do this because those type of collections take up a lot of space!
They sure do! Thats a great point to make.
I feel like the "I am going for a full set" is the mentality of "I need a reason to keep buying because I already have the main games I want".
Maybe for some people. I try to find deals so I haven’t found all of the games that I want to try out. There are tons out there still. 🤷🏻♀️
I totally understand this viewpoint. Definitly true for some people I've known.
Exactly! Thats an excellent reason! Live your best life!
@@GamerAhmer I completely agree!
@@HeywoodJablowme7 exactly!! That’s a great point. That’s what I try to tell people! That’s amazing.
Absolutely! And the Game Gear would be awesome to see completed. Super cool. One day I’ll finish my Jaguar collection. Very cool.
If I had the space and money for all that, that would be an incredibly fun thing to do!
@@viridionwaves yes!
Woah!! That’s amazing. And absolutely! I agree! Keep it up. :)
I can only totally agree with what you say in this video :) I completed the N64 PAL fullset CIB back in 2009, then bought some games here and there and started to focus on completing fullsets since 2016. As of today, I have 8 fullsets, 2 close to the end and some more in the pipeline for the next years ^^
I collect fullsets to be able to show what's been released on a system in a particular region (or in the world), to keep track of a part of video games history.
Exactly! Good point.
I enjoy when you talk during the videos you make it more interesting. 🎉😊
Thank you! I appreciate the support. :)
honestly, if you have the space and the money and you enjoy preserving videogames than who is anyone to tell you what to do? since everything is going digital and more and more everyday corporations are trying to take game ownership away from us gamers, collecting these games in there entirety for their respective platform is a good thing. not to mention it gives you hell of bragging rights in the gaming community!
Oh absolutely! Digital cannot replace all of this. It’s wild that people are going in that direction. I agree with that! Haha
Will do! And exactly! That’s so cool! Keep on gaming!!
I think as long as gamers have that passion for whatever they want to collect rather full sets or not full sets It's wonderful. I love having a big collection made up of smaller collections. Cool video. ^_^
Well said! I definitely agree!
@@GamerAhmer ^_^
I loved everything you had to say because its all true. I love collecting but the only full set I'm going for is the Sega Dreamcast set because that's where my is.
That’s awesome! I love the dreamcast! Such a great system with fun games!
For me it's the research that goes into it, and finding games you never knew existed that turn out to be great, or finding some of the last true hidden gems for older consoles. Even though I don't go for a full set, I limit myself to games I would play or I find interesting so I can always play it when I want, the way it was mean to be played.
Yes!! I agree. So many fun games out there
You collect video games you want & love to play . That’s it.
@@jpoet1 I want them all. That way I know which ones I’ll enjoy the most. 🤷🏻♀️
I'm always bragging about my collection of games and systems 😂😂
lol. Nothing wrong with that!
It tells story, a history of days gone by
Exactly! The Nintendo 64 is one of my all time favorites so that’ll always be my favorite that I collected for. :)
A very simple answer.......... BECAUSE YOU CAN 😂
It's an addiction
For some people
To non collectors all collections seem pointless
True.
Oh it sure is a fun time! Thanks for watching and reading all of the comments.
If I could buy back all the different things I experienced as a kid, I would.
😂😅
Exactly!
To clarify, I'm talking about loose games here. If it's CIB that could be different
That sounds like an awesome collection of games! Definitely appreciate the kind words and the support. :)
I dont give a crap what people say. If you love video games and you decide to spend your money on that and have collection thats the person decisions. People collect to resale or to play and save it for future generations
Oh absolutely! Just have to enjoy and have fun!
Yes! And that’s ok. Space is always an issue and definitely not available for all. It’s even tough for me to fit it all but I work around that.
Just change the word book to videogame:
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read.
Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”
-Umberto Eco
Oh these are all great points! Definitely not for everyone but for some people it’s worth it. Great examples to compare it to!
Nice shirt! I think I’ve seen that somewhere before ;) yes I’m one the crazies going for a full NES set! Come at me bro! Lol
Bahaha. Yes!! And such an awesome set to go for too.
@@RavenChestnut1561 exactly! Thats why I collect physical media. :)
Why not? You can do with your money as you wish! People spend money on many hobbies, so what? Some people blow their money on pot and spend the weekend baked, good for them. To me it's a waste but not for them...to each their own

Exactly! Good point. Everyone is different!
There is also enjoying the physical form of it, the art, the design choices and publisher info. Besides the shelf eye candy, there is just something far more appealing to reading the back of a game box and seeing the developers, publishers, copyright dates etc., and starting to learn from there, rather than looking it up on my computer.
@@viridionwaves The art is stellar for some game boxes. So much detail in small packages.
I would say it’s an ode to the system that you really are passionate about. I am going for a full Vita set right now. 😊
Woah! Thats awesome. So many great games for the Vita!
I have to ask... what is the story behind that misprint R-Type at 4:34? I love it! Is it authentic?
It’s a factory error cart. Over the years quite a few have popped up for different games. It’s definitely a neat piece for sure! Makes it worth a bit more because it was never caught in quality control. But authentic!
A curated collection is more impressive than a collection full of junk.
True. But some people have different opinions of what “junk” is.
I greatly enjoy the completing collector journeys! I love people’s passions regardless of the collection! ❤
I totally agree! :)
Some excellent points made
I'm collecting the full PAL library for N64
(cartridge only)
I'm at 81 games so far I'm hoping to be at 150+ by the end of the year 🤞
Woah!! That’s awesome. Very cool! Keep it up. You’ll get there!
there is a lot to think about but i have to say that this t-shirt is very nice🤔
I also really liked your master sistem collection
Thank you! And yes it’s definitely a system I want to explore more of!
It’s pointless when people who do it don’t even attempt to play half of them
Yea that makes sense too
I think I roll my eyes at complete set collectors lately because Its just a means to flip it for cash.
Oh that would be a great set! And definitely great points! The thrill of the hunt is definitely a driving force for many.
I think if it makes you happy, do it! I personally wouldn't want to but I think you make collecting what you want it to be.
Exactly! I agree with that.
When do I plan to play all these games that you own ?
Hmm. Not sure. 🤔
How dare you make fun of the 1990s Mario movie! That movie was a beautiful disaster! 😆
@@joeyisabsb1 bahaha. Hey I still love it! But as a kid it traumatized me. Those Goomba heads?! 😂
I unironically loved that movie. It was clearly a B film, but to the kid me, it was amazing. It's weird to hear people trash it nowadays, cause I always thought it was a good film lol.
I like this conversation ❤️
Yes!!
Yes, you are right! Interesting to think about!
Said it in the last video and I'll say it here. If it makes you happy, go nuts! 🔥🔥
Yes! Haha
I usually spend $30 a week on games. Most of the games I own cost less than $5. I have quite a lot. But I don't consider myself a collector. I just like playing video games.
Woah! Thats awesome.
I only go for a full sub-set of a genre fx.
I have all the Need for Speed games for PlayStation (from PS1 to PS5) fx.
There's other sub-set's I'll be going for in the future. But never a full set of a console library.
That’s cool too! It’s definitely not for everyone but if that’s something you enjoy or are passionate about then go for it. Super cool!
Sometimes games that others assume are shovelware, can actually be fun. I've recently been playing Speedy Gonzales on SNES. It's a Sonic clone, but it's fun.
Exactly! As long as you enjoy it. Thats all that matters.
That’s a great way to be too! Everyone is a little bit different and it’s neat to see what people think about collections and this topic!
@@GamerAhmer To have all those Nintendo 64 like you do must be wonderful and insane as well. It must be really nice to have all those. I'm proud of your collection!

For me, a full set is pointless. But, I think that people should collect/play whatever they want.
Exactly. It’s not for everyone but as long as people enjoy how they play/collect it’s fine.
I have a couple reasons to collect because I like a series and because of it being Nostalgic from my childhood. I am not trying to get complete sets.
And that’s ok too! You have to play and enjoy what you like! That definitely makes sense
How do I feel like we are the reason you made this video 😂😂😂😂
Bahaha. There were a few other people who said something but it helped with the timing. Haha.
Very cool!
All hobbies are pointless. And that's their purpose.
To some people and some degree. But there’s multiple things you can get out of a hobby. They do have a greater purpose. 🤷🏻♀️
@@pigs18 oh absolutely! I definitely get that. Great points there. Definitely vital to our mental health and brings most people joy! I agree. :)

For example ocarina of time, half life metal gear solid.
Also emulation runs these games are way better (for the most part)

Absolutely!
Most games are trash. But i can understand why people want a full set.
@@matjakobs8612 Yes!
Especially since each system probably has under 50 titles that are good.
That may be true for some people. It’s always interesting to hear people’s input on this topic.
I see that a lot too. People change their collection goals and downsize over time. Nothing wrong with that either.
