I’m a proper fanboy of this filter too Mick and wouldn’t have anything less, it’s a true work horse. That ceramic media is more of a pre-filter media than the sintered glass media that we both use... I’ve also just upgraded my ceramic to the same style you suggested, it’s amazing how much extra you get in and how heavy the filter becomes after the upgrade. Mick , the arrowanas look great mate . How big is your Royal plec then . I don't think I've seen that yet . I've got a juwel Rio 450 , running a fx6 on that .
Hi mate I have an issue. Currently running 2 fx6s on my 150gallon Moba frontosa tank. Yesterday was filter cleaning day, I did all the relevant steps regarding cleaning putting back together again. Here’s where the problem is, after I connected back up I opened the outlet first then the inlet heard all the water coming into filter turned of started to prime and was work as per usual good flow rate etc I’m now hearing what can only be described as running/trickling water coming from the fx6 no loss of flow no leaking just the water noise??? Any ideas many thanks
Hey mate I have had this before I think it’s were we have cleaned it and there are slight air bubbles in the foam pads etc and takes a while for it to fill fully back with water if that makes sense. As long as it running I wouldn’t worry mate 👍🏻
Stuffed mine with biohome ultimate. Removed sponges and used course and media like you. Lobbed the carbon pad. Stuck a fine pad on top before biomedia. Also added a sponge in the intake pipe which I clean every other week which basically acts as a eheim prefilter
I’m buying an Asian arowana from planet arowana due to you mentioning them on one of your vids… 👍, Wanted your opinion… 8ft L x 3ft w x 2.5ft H, with two pup stingrays… and three Arowana… You think two fx6 would good or two oase 850?
@@MicksFishUk I used to keep a marine tank… with a sump… the one thing I really hated about the sump set up was the evaporation which led to the pump running dry and everything stopping… I currently have 5 tropical tanks and none of them have that issues and I got for 7 day holiday and nothing catastrophic occurs… Hence I thought multi canister would be adequate… otherwise I auto top up with a sump

I have one in my 75 (bit overkill I know), and the water is super clear. Definitely one of the best on the market

What ceramic rings do you use?
I get them from eBay mate they are copies of fluval. But if I was going to do it again I would get bio home ultimate 👍🏻
