I was at the Twins game when this happened! The sky was crazy dark, but I couldn't see clearly how insane the storm clouds actually were from under the awning.
The sky was purpley pink where we were when it came in... so glad you captured it!
Cool! I have seen a shelf cloud multiple times and I never got tired of it.

@@steventhury8366 shelf clouds are pretty common and can form along any line of thunderstorms, not just derechos

Most of the damages from the storms happened SW of Minneapolis where they had very large hail. There wasn't much of a risk for tornadic activity, the threat was always forecast to be winds, hail and downpours.

Very cool looks like from there movie Independence Day when the space craft enters.
Look at that uplift at the front of the storm! That looks like a classic cold front coming in. You can see how the denser, heavier, cooler air is cutting under the warmer, lighter and more humid air at the ground and then lift it up to the altitude where the dew point is reached and all that water just condenses out and falls back the ground as heavy rain. Science!

Probably straight line. It could have been a localized derecho. Which is pretty much the same thing.
It was a very electrical storm altogether, lots of lightning strikes contained. I was in a tent for this one
I Videoed that storm as well, and yes a tornado type thing was touching the ground for a few seconds. I was in awe watching that. Incredible front.
The power flashes make this severe storm so much more horrifying!

Yea I live in Burnsville Mn I caught this on camera by my home it was dark out but when I got to the entrance of my neighborhood the sky was extremely bright with scary looking clouds as if something was being covered. I feel like it was a ship in the sky🤷🏾♀️
