To me Dai Guard is some what a more realistic super robot anime. The robot is not invincible on sheer hot blood and will, but rather on strategies. It revolved around everyday life of the ordinary working people. You crushed a building, stepped on people's vehicles, those expense will be took out from your salary lol. The origin of enemy is simple too - they appears like natural disasters. There're no end to it, but the heroes are prepared for them. It's not very epic, but it's definitely very encouraging, heart warming, with plenty funny moments as well. If we really gonna get a robot to protect us someday, it'll probably be the same like this story. Very good story and anime, 9/10.
It's basically a Real Robot with Super Robot designs and pilots. With all of the problems in attitude, conflicts and economics that brings. It's awesome alright.
Super Robot Wars: The only time where Dai-Guard can use a drill and not have it fail miserably. For a glass cannon and non-dodgy Real, this thing hits like a fucking ICBM. And it resupplies.
A hot-blooded salarymen in the very epitome of Magikarp Power with equally hot-blooded background music that curbstomp everything in their way: Pure Badass of the humongous mecha world.
So what if he's too realistic? Most don't mind. That adds to his charm. Every bloody gundam has to use weapons! Hell, Dai-Guard's second most powerful attack is a rapid punch combo, making a total of three physical attacks1 3. Magikarp power indeed. Starts out worse than Diana A, becomes a badass Lightning Bruiser of a mech (with care and love. I don't blame you, he needs a ton of effort). Boss Borot doesn't have as much though.
You know what, they should just make some of the stuff in the opening actual moves. That would rock. Example? Dai-guard's epic brofist with the Big O that killed four DAMONs. And by that I mean Knot-Punisher/Piledriver Punch Combo.
There really should be a co-op attack between Daiguard and Gunleon. DOUBLE HEAT PUNISHER! Or just have someone commission a Colossal Blade for Daiguard

Dude, that last one is a point in it's FAVOR. Boss Borot in most SRW games is the most broken unit ever. yeah it isn't very dodgy OR tough, but it does STUPID amounts of damage and only costs 10 to repair.

It does but it only occurs when you use the melee attack against a flying enemy. It was one of the specific directional attacks
