I got mine from the local Costco for 79.99.
Nice review! Finishing my Charlie’s batch right now! Luckily I bought a backup right after my first pour! I have 11 different batches and Country Ham is my favorite followed by Charlie’s! Cheers!
I’ve had 19 different batches with two more from 2019 and 2020 that I haven’t opened/tried yet. Favorites have been (not in order): Granny’s (20-01), kitchen table (18-04), beaten biscuits (19-04), KY ham (19-03), Bardstown (21-03), Charlie’s (23-01)
Loving the new studio! Keep up the great work man!
I appreciate you! Cheers
Schnucks in Crestwood has had a few in the past week or two.
Interesting. I love Bookers and I enjoy Oak as that is a core profile for me in bourbon. Thanks for sharing!
Then this batch should be a home-run for you!
Thank you 🙏
Everyone's palate is so different. His tasting notes are unlike than anyone else's I've heard so far on the Springfield bottle. All so far have said the oak is slight. Everyone talks about a long finish, coats the mouth, traditional (carmel, cinnamon, vanilla) ... Interesting.
Picked up a bottle from my local grocer yesterday. I haven’t opened it yet but I will tell you now it is delicious and I love it 🤞🏼
Haha I like your optimism
How would you say it compares to Storyteller blend? Probably the best Bookers blend i’ve tried
Yeah not anywhere similar. I enjoyed Storyteller a lot. More caramel and molasses to me, hardly any oak.
Had a pour of this one and it just was a little underwhelming, not the usual Bookers punch. Charlie’s batch was my favorite from last year. Cheers
I hear ya
I look forward to your Booker's -01 batch reviews every year. Still loads of Charlie's batches sitting on the shelves up here. Makes me want to grab another backup or two.
Dang! Haven’t seen any Charlie’s since I grabbed mine. Where are you?
@@TheSubourbonDad Alberta, Canada. We only get the 01s up here every year and loads of them. They’re everywhere. Found 2018-01 and 2019-01 still on the shelf last year. The prices are excellent too. Under $100 Canadian.
@chargerguy74 that’s incredible. 2020-01 was an all-time favorite of mine. 2019-01 was really good, but only if you like Jim Beam products
@@TheSubourbonDad lol mine too! But I didn’t figure that out until late 2021. I was able to hunt down a few of them sitting around. 2020-01 is the bourbon that really got me into bourbon. It was the first bourbon that really wow’d me. I think our palates must be pretty similar. If you ever find yourself north of the border shoot me a message. I could for sure spare a 2020-01 ;)
@chargerguy74 will do! Same goes for you if you’re down this way.
Yeah I got the same bottle for 76 bucks at specs
With Bookers even the so so bottles are still good to me. Like a
Stagg their are just different. And being different batches you really can’t compare them they are meant to stand on their own. Of course there will always be a favorite but it could never be duplicated just not how whiskey goes. It may open up more in a few weeks. Enjoy!!
I agree with all of that!
I know I'm new to your channel, 7yrs and 7 months is not very old to be that oak forward. Was just curious on your thoughts on Eagle Rare, and Henry McKenna? Both are 10yrs old, and pretty mainstream.
Thanks for watching!
Not too young, just depends what’s getting pulled from the barrel on a particular batch.
I like ER, nice and fruity. I have to revisit McKenna 10yr, the bottle I tried the first time was awful
67$ at Costco this morning can't wait to try it after work
wow that is an amazing price
I thought this batch was decent and my store owner friend lets me have them at his cost 72.00 so I’m a buyer every time!
I just got this one today. It’s good, but far from their best.
This one is great man ! Get a lot of cinnamon bubblegum goodness
😆 man, you got some wild tastebuds
@@TheSubourbonDadhahaha man and I tell u I hate red hot bubblegum but for some reason this one works 2 👍 up
Thanks for the honest review. Is it as oaky as a knob creek 12 or 15?
Last year I bought two bookers and I still have one that isn’t even open. I believe from here on out I will stick with that two bookers a year strategy. For someone like myself( with no UA-cam channel/not a whole lot of people to share it with) four bookers a year is just overkill.
Im doing the same with elijah craig bp and larceny bp from now on as well. Just two per year. With the 120 plus proof bourbons I dont go to them as often and they are really filling up my shelves.
With bookers being so hit and miss, are you going to continue to buy all four batches each year?
Haven’t tried the 12 or 15 KC yet. Missed my opportunity to get the 15 back when I first got into whiskey. Had other stuff in the queue, haven’t gotten the 12yr yet. It was oakier than the 18yr, and less mellow, even for the proof point.
I still plan to get all the batches for now. Price will probably be what kills it for me. Last years batches were almost all stellar.
Cheers!
Man… I might have changed my mind. I loved the 18 and couldnt get enough of all the oak haha😅.
The price is mostly what gets me. If I get all the bookers, ecbp’s, and larceny bp’s. Thats getting close to a thousand bucks on ten bottles.
There were 3 good batches last year. All were at least as good as the last really good batch 2019-04. 2020, 2021 and 2022 had 1 or no good batches. I have had a pour of this and don't really care to buy a bottle.
Knob Creek 12 has an amazingly sweet oak profile. Much better to my palate than the 15. I had one over oaked batch of 18 and one that was really balanced.
@@0529mpb I do prefer the kc 12 to the 15 for sure!
I have only had a pour of the 18 and it was amazing. Had a ton of oak but in a totally not offensive way, but I tend to enjoy oak as long as its not bitter.
As for the bookers I dont believe there is enough variation or that they are that amazing where you have to buy every batch. Especially at the price. If they were $70 or $75 I would probably get them all but I can never get them for under $100 out the door.
KC12 is perfect. I find it smooth and not oaky.
I got much more oak out of KC18
It was an impulse buy at $85. I've been buying Booker's on and off since 1995 (OG Booker Noe distilled packed in a small crate filled with straw). It's on profile and just OK. Not worth the $85, don't pay more.
The best batches were the unnamed batches distilled in the 80s and early 90s. Booker retired in the early 90s.
