Ha! I remember when I was a kid I put a bunch of quarters in the seat belt retracting part on the driver side floor area. When my dad sold the car I was so sad. It was a 86 iroc z. I found the same exact car 10 years later and bought it back. I’ve been restoring it and your videos are super helpful. Oh on a follow up on the seat belt issue I had… I was removing it because it wasn’t retracting … totally forgot about what I did when I was like 14 and found all those quarters in there 😂. Best surprise memory came back ever. Now the seat belt retracts fine. Damn kids
Bro all these ls swap videos are being saved in a Playlist so in a couple years when it's time to ls swap/restore my third gen I know where to go. Your doing the "lords work" with these amazing videos. Keep it up.
I pulled all of the interior out of my son's car when we did a color change. The dust behind all those plastic panels was unbelievable. Everything, including the seats, got power washed and put back in. The interior looks and smells brand new.
This brings back memories . We did a whole back half on our 91 , along with full cage and 6.0 LS on alky . Car is just bracket raced now .
Great Job, I'm starting my 86 Iroc soon. This helps!
This brought back memories, I did this last summer, now finally when we see spring, I will start putting the car back together, and hopefully enjoy about three times the power and a lot of update goodies. Great videos, always enjoy them, must admit i thought for sure as you pulled the rear carpet up you were going to have a snarky comment about the clean, UN-molested rear deck above the fuel tank. LOL
Great video. I am installing Dynamat in a week or two so this was helpful.
Closed Cell Foam adhered to the back of the interior plastic before reassembly will make a big difference as well. I used Siless Liner 157 mil deadening matt.
@@netburnr how much did you use? Trying to see how many sqft I should buy.
Thanks for the video, I plan on changing the carpet in my 84 soon this definitely helps!!
Great video. Can't wait for the next one
Nice video! I own a 1983 Z28 I am going to be restoring. Nice to know someone took the time to document their effort. Did you restore yours or modify it for racing?
race all day
Great work....
Great vid thanks
Please make one on how to remove the dash
I have a video on removing the dash pad.
the entire dash actually comes out very easily, I don't have a video on that though.
Now it's a Race Car how much weight did you lose, I think it might be around 300 pounds.
Yes, I'd love to know what the total weight savings was. Not including the gas pedal etc...
I'm keeping the interior, no race car interior here.
I just needed it out of the way for some work you'll see in future videos.
weight loss so far is -357lbs, -380lbs without the rear seats
What is the reason for stripping your interior? I would have ask but, it’s more than just weight reduction since you removed the steering column, pedals and seatbelts.
I'll be installing the DSE sub-frame connectors and some sound dampening.
So the interior needs to be removed to do that.
I'm keeping the interior, no race car interior here.
@@3rdGenGuy onder lots of vids that they install it with the carpet mounted. Is that a bad thing?
It's pretty much like the 2nd gen
most f-bodies are pretty similar.
"Remove rear carpet" flashbacks with grinder on hand. Lol
???
11:43 People watching this in the year 2500... 🤔🤨🤔🤔🤨🤨🤨🤔
Why would u Not have a sterio system in ur car, thats just wrong
why would I need a radio when I'm blasting down the back straight at 140+mph questioning whether or not to take turn 1 flat out
I hope you replaced that nasty smelly carpet with a plush black aftermarket carpet.
my original carpet is in good shape, just sun faded. i'm gonna just SEM paint it.
