  • Some of you guys are really out here advocating for taking advantage of teenagers and supporting illegal working conditions. Yikes. Comments disabled.
For like nine months now, I've been debating making this storytime video about my time working at the renaissance faire, and obviously, I finally did it. I guess more than anything, I just wanted to open up to you guys about some personal stories that relate to me.
    To clear some things up:
This isn't to slam the business I worked for in any way. My boss is an absolutely incredibly and respectable woman. She was very caring and a mother-like figure. This job was just a horrendous fit for me.
It caused my social anxiety to sky rocket and pushed me to a breaking point. That isn't to say that it wouldn't be a good job for other people. There were some really fun and precious memories that we made. Over all, it was such a unique experience.
My boss also did a lot of favors for me. We would get free products (although one of the incentives for me taking the job was the promise of $100 worth of merchandise at the end of the season, which I never received), a complimentary and homemade lunch everyday, protection from predators, and I was also given a few days off. I even cancelled work last minute to attend a friend's funeral, and she was incredibly warm and understanding.
