I wonder how long till Lewis flips out against the constant "You have LITERALLY nothing to do in your life, but when you have kids... " Every single episode almost, man
my friend thinks that when you jump out a train you will hover in the air and then safely fall to the ground, he's completely sure about it and says that he's right because his parents are physicists
You need to run at opposite direction of the train and at the same speed of the train for that to happen. eg. You are inside a train that travels at 10km/h going westward. You need to run eastward at 10km/h, meaning your position relative to the earth is not moving. Moving opposite the direction of the train at the same speed cancels out your speed relative to the earth. I'm not sure about the hovering part, though.
Well he's kind of right. If he were able to jump out of the train in the opposite direction with enough force to match the speed of the train, it would cancel out the his movement and he would fall safely. The likelihood of him actually being able to do that is extremely low though. Mythbusters were going to attempt this concept, but decided it was too dangerous as the variables are hard to control.
pretty sure the mythbuster did something like this and yea technically if you cancel out the trains traveling speed like you described jumping out would be like you where just jumping in place straight up and down.
Okay guys. Love your work, think about this rationally for a second. If you blackout from falling, explain skydiving, base jumping, bungee jumping, and so on.
Whoever doesn't love this podcast either needs to actually listen to it or have some tests done, this is excellent. Dare I say better than the old YogPod, though I'd still like to have another episode or two of that if possible, for old time's sake.
kevinvh7 I looked it up and you're right. Instead, everybody watch at least 30 seconds of the ad or the whole thing, whichever is shorter (to make it count as an ad view)
Also not how it works. If you want to increase the amount of monetization you have to increase the actual viewerbase. Google's partners pay more to people with more "family friendly" content & specifically have a set number of views or more. The range goes from $.01-$7.00 CPM(1000 ad views) by simply having everyone here watch the ad, you're basically increasing the monetary value of the video by $1-2 usd. If you want to support the podcast, tell other people that HAVEN'T watched it or already turned it on, to turn it on & watch the preroll & over 30% of the video... and keep in mind the family friendly part.. the algorithms that youtube runs hears them say penis multiple times this video, thus lowering the monetary value in the eyes of Google's ad partners.. so really, unless we get it to be a break out success with 1m+ viewers every Wednesday, they are probably going to average ~ $10-20 for each of these videos/podcasts by the time the month ends and they can pull the revenue. Best support comes from the donations tabs on their twitch.tv accounts.
If you get the chance to skip after 5 and take it do they still get something? Or does it not class as a view? Just wondering because if it doesn't count I would watch at least 30 seconds for some youtubers.
Listening to the podcast this morning I had to stop what I was doing, pause the episode, make a cup of coffee, and settle in when I heard Bodega was about to start.
What I thought was gonna happen is that the "Nerd" would get so consumed in flaming Bodega's ship, ignoring the original stink problem entirely, so that Bodega would end up going ballistic and self-destruct the ship (whilst the "Nerd" was still blabbering about something on board). Possibly even ramming it into a nerd colony as well. As in: "At least there's not going to be any stench to worry about anymore."
"Why doesn't firaxis just build an artificial brain???" Great question, guy "Why doesn't firaxis train a model that perfectly knows how to defeat me in every scenario" "Why don't they use information from games that have completely different mechanics to train a computationally intensive model on a new game." jesus christ
He doesn't care that it would be unbeatable. He also doesn't realize that on Prince(only difficulty in the prerelease) difficulty you're actually fighting an AI which is handicapped by the game to be worse than you from the get go. The problem I have with his plan is that he basically wants to make Civ a sentient robot.
To be fair, Civ V had shitty AI, AI in Vox Populi is much better than the default one. And at least in IV and I'm not sure about V Prince difficulty is the one where neither you nor AI get any buffs.
But the gist of the issues he points out do exist, and what more, game AI that has most of the improvements he suggests, (perceptually nondeterministic, fuzzy-logical, locally emergent) exists as well, _while still being fun:_ Arcen's AI War. Advanced AI is very rare, but people do try! We're not quite massively machine-learning general-purpose strategic savant systems quite yet, but a man can dream!
fgnsfgnsfgn "Why doesn't Firaxis build an artificial intelligence that can beat humans in warfare?" probably because they don't want to destroy humanity
That's some insanely complicated AI Pyrion wants. As a programmer, the idea of an AI that learns is a bit scary. It's most definitely not a task that could be handled alone. Even if it was possible to make an AI that systematically learns how to play the game, eventually it'd be the top tier player in the world an no one could ever win. The hardest part about creating an AI that learns is calculating for every scenario because if you're not data collecting for something, it won't know what to learn and improve on.(hints why even larger companies working on developing robots don't have an AI that can just magically learn everything like a human but rather it progressively learns how to handle X number of situations better)
Yeah people don't really realize the ramifications and how difficult it is to produce a program, let alone an AI, that "learns". It really is bounded by the amount of situations which you can provide for the AI to act on when presented with that or a similar situation. But collecting game information, player information, and strategy, is such an unreasonable and, in some cases, unethical thing to do. Learning is such an infinitely advanced process.
Google DeepMind is the sort of thing. In a way I think it's not actually more complicated as such. Creating a self contained program that simulates/competes with a human brain is complicated. Creating a program that learns from looking at extant results of recorded actions is much a much more efficient way of working, albeit much more challenging to create from an intellectual and conceptual point of view.
With what Lewis said about finishing a game but not 'playing' it - For me, that is the Fallout franchise. Every single Fallout game I forget to use VATS and end up just playing the game without ever using it. Please tell me that I am not the only one...
The same thing that happened to Lewis with Deus Ex happened to me. I thought the game was going to be twice as long as it was, and when I got to the end I realized the only perks I unlocked were stat increases and hacking requirements.
Hey yogpod, I'm 17 years old and a junior high school. Next year when i'm 18 my mother said we might go to England because I have always wanted to go there. I don't want to get my hopes too high but in case I do go i was wondering if you have any advice about England.
What does the word bodega mean? noun. A cellar or shop selling wine and food, especially in a Spanish-speaking country or area. Johnson smoked American Spirits, and Melissa hadn't seen a bodega or smoke shop since arriving in the afterworld.
I am friends with 2 devs from the Black Mesa game (the Half Life remake) they not only build it from the ground up, by the sounds of it they design loads of stuffs themselves too. They're really nice guys and it's sometimes interesting listening to them talk about game dev things. xD Also, Bodega has became the part of this podcast I look forward to most. I have a good laugh every time. :D
The thing about overwatch is that the ultimates are all op af so any ult has a chance of a team wipe, so it can be overtime but then that one ult wipes the enemy team and you win.
If you turn on closed captions you'd see how every time Lewis says "Deus Ex" it's like, dude sex, or six sex. While when sips says it, it perfectly translates to Deus Ex.
Trying to grow a UA-cam channel now definitely feels like trying to climb a mountain. There's just too much competition and people providing basically the same content.
41:00 Pyrion has brought up this idea of a computer that uses data from past matches to learn a few times. imagine a computer spending every one of its turns scanning through and sorting millions of points of data. yeah.
You wouldn't blackout from falling from a building, a lot of blackout is because of pressure changes in your head caused by stuff like g force and altitude changes
Until recently there was a german Twitch channel called "Rocket Beans TV", which is infact like a TV channel. It had an office behind it and everything. They moved to UA-cam now though.
being a skydiver i'm very sure you don't black out from falling out a plane.. i've been thrown out and not blacked out lol :') although i remember when i first started learning to breath when flying through the air was odd.. its like being head on with a strong wind, you feel like you cant breath but in reality you can breath just like normal
i think some people die from fright before they hit the ground when falling to their death, not 100% sure tho, obviously only people without parachutes :P
40:40 I agree, a lot of strategy video games have shit AI's: Hearts of iron, Total war, Civilization. However, you've played against prince, and with higher difficulty it'll get a little better, but they're still stupid.
kevinvh7 That's why I mentioned that they're still stupid. They do in fact do not get any smarter. However, at higher difficulties they're buffed up a bit, so that their retarded decisions don't completely let them fall behind.

Pyrion literally plays dota like daily. He attends multiple tournaments a year as a panelist or interviewer. I would say he knows what he's talking about.
52:36 I actually get that way quite a bit, just never concede and see what happens, I was fighting a guy playing paladin who had 28 health and I was a rouge with 8, and I managed to win due to a cheeky c'thun. Fucking Iron Giant. I remember that film. I remember being really sad as a kid when i watched it. So good though.
George Holland throwback to 1999 :'(
George Holland I literally watched that film last night and had major nostalgia
When I was a kid I cried after watching it.
I remember the book. It was amazing!
I always wanted that damn bolt...
I wonder how long till Lewis flips out against the constant "You have LITERALLY nothing to do in your life, but when you have kids... "
Every single episode almost, man
Do you have kids?
I think it's because they're jealous
Bodega Fun Fact: "Disco Volante" literally means "Flying Saucer" in Italian

I was just about to watch a repeat triforce then this popped up. Fecking spectacular!
(26:10) I absolutely consider the iron giant a classic! Tend to watch it every new years eve.
Everyone click the adds on these videos to support this podcast!

Playing hearthstone while listing to triforce! Best day ever!
I wish they had a podcast everyday it's soo good
When he was talking about the AI in games, Supreme Commander's AI Adapts to how you play to counter your plans

17:20 Lewis is the best!
these are making great weekly instalments
With what Lewis said about finishing a game but not 'playing' it - For me, that is the Fallout franchise. Every single Fallout game I forget to use VATS and end up just playing the game without ever using it. Please tell me that I am not the only one...
You're the only one.
Tom Hillman
What the FUCK is a VAT!?!??!?!?
The same thing that happened to Lewis with Deus Ex happened to me. I thought the game was going to be twice as long as it was, and when I got to the end I realized the only perks I unlocked were stat increases and hacking requirements.
That was one of the best starting conversations ever.
This is the highlight of my week.
But lewis, we love listening to you three talking absolute mince for over an hour, it's the best podcast ever even better than the ricky gervais show
Hey yogpod, I'm 17 years old and a junior high school. Next year when i'm 18 my mother said we might go to England because I have always wanted to go there. I don't want to get my hopes too high but in case I do go i was wondering if you have any advice about England.
Wargame Red Dragon is basically one of the steepest learning curve games i've played in a while. But it's great.
Trust me, growing on UA-cam is just like climbing a giant mountain.
What does the word bodega mean?
noun. A cellar or shop selling wine and food, especially in a Spanish-speaking country or area. Johnson smoked American Spirits, and Melissa hadn't seen a bodega or smoke shop since arriving in the afterworld.
3:28 Hot damn, 6 years ago Pyrion only had 500 subs? That's surreal.
33:53 Dishonored is awesome
I am friends with 2 devs from the Black Mesa game (the Half Life remake) they not only build it from the ground up, by the sounds of it they design loads of stuffs themselves too. They're really nice guys and it's sometimes interesting listening to them talk about game dev things. xD

What a brilliant episode!
finally been waiting for bodega
Holy shit I thought the title of this podcast referenced something like Starcraft or similar... Boy oooh boy was I wrong!
Great podcast keep up the good work
Bugger me sideways. Triforce!
Iove how pyrion called out lewis' cape wanting last episode 🤣
God I'm loving the Bodega stories!
The thing about overwatch is that the ultimates are all op af so any ult has a chance of a team wipe, so it can be overtime but then that one ult wipes the enemy team and you win.
Son_0f_Ares Even Symmetra's?
It's G force, it's caused by a counterforce to gravity if you want you can look it up.
If you turn on closed captions you'd see how every time Lewis says "Deus Ex" it's like, dude sex, or six sex. While when sips says it, it perfectly translates to Deus Ex.
Who else expected rants for mobile micro transactions?
I expected micro-managing
last week tonight is the best show ever !
Trying to grow a UA-cam channel now definitely feels like trying to climb a mountain. There's just too much competition and people providing basically the same content.
Damien Fate you gotta give your own signature twist on it that people will like
I agree, but finding that special something is difficult
41:00 Pyrion has brought up this idea of a computer that uses data from past matches to learn a few times.
imagine a computer spending every one of its turns scanning through and sorting millions of points of data.
yeah.
You can't load Chekov's guns and not fire them. I'm expecting Bodega's ship to explode in the near future.
when they were talking about the ai pyrion is describing the end of humanity
56:30 for bodega
You wouldn't blackout from falling from a building, a lot of blackout is because of pressure changes in your head caused by stuff like g force and altitude changes
Until recently there was a german Twitch channel called "Rocket Beans TV", which is infact like a TV channel. It had an office behind it and everything. They moved to UA-cam now though.
Booooodega!!!!!
why isnt it on itunes yet?! Please, I love this podcast on my ipod!!! :D
It is on iTunes, it's under the same thing as the YogPod.
being a skydiver i'm very sure you don't black out from falling out a plane.. i've been thrown out and not blacked out lol :') although i remember when i first started learning to breath when flying through the air was odd.. its like being head on with a strong wind, you feel like you cant breath but in reality you can breath just like normal
But you have a parachute, if you just fall out of one and have nothing you can do you might black out
i think some people die from fright before they hit the ground when falling to their death, not 100% sure tho, obviously only people without parachutes :P
Thank you, listening while I fish the Thondroril River for my corrupted Ashbringer appearance.
also btw interactive vibrator/fleshlights actually already exist!
Pyrion, do you have any idea how expensive and difficult it would be to develop an A.I that learns and makes choices based on previous experiences?
40:40 I agree, a lot of strategy video games have shit AI's: Hearts of iron, Total war, Civilization. However, you've played against prince, and with higher difficulty it'll get a little better, but they're still stupid.
They don't get any smarter on higher difficulties they just get more aggressive and bigger bonuses.
kevinvh7 That's why I mentioned that they're still stupid. They do in fact do not get any smarter. However, at higher difficulties they're buffed up a bit, so that their retarded decisions don't completely let them fall behind.
Jesus Christ, these are sooooo goooood
Who else is listening to Triforce while doing hw?
I'm at work.
Im at work as well
me
yup
The triforce podcast is the reason im failing biology
Wednesdays are the best!
That intro by itself almost feels like it could be animated, almost.
They should animate the part where Lewis said "it was me" when they start talking about micro-penis
MrAntieMatter is it time to get angory?
Pyrion is dead wrong about gambling being the main reason people watch esports. I guess since het doesn't enjoy it himself he has to justify it by making himself feel morally superior for not watching the "gambling" games.
lol @ Pyrion doesn't like Esports. Do you know who Pflax is?
Pyrion literally plays dota like daily. He attends multiple tournaments a year as a panelist or interviewer. I would say he knows what he's talking about.
He also actively supports Bournemouth FC as well...
He was comparing it to sports. A reasonable assumption at least.
pyrion is a sports fanatic ya dummy. he has like 2k hours in football manager
Atlas Reactor is a very fun game. The only problem that "free to play" is more like a demo. Even the devs call the free part of Atlas Reactor a demo.
the run on jokes are strong with this series
52:36 I actually get that way quite a bit, just never concede and see what happens, I was fighting a guy playing paladin who had 28 health and I was a rouge with 8, and I managed to win due to a cheeky c'thun. That got buffed to hell. (Seriously I have never seen a 32/32 C'thun it was fucking insane)
Iron Giant and John Oliver. Instantly my favorite podcast episod.
That conversation about urinals is the exact reason I always go to the cubicle, and will actually wait if they're full and the urinals are empty. Anyone else?
Pyrion's impression of Ray Winston 👌👌
Recently I've been watching some TED ed and some of them are alright and informative
Yes! new Triforce on my b-day c:
I'm thankful for Lewis begging to move past dicks and shit and vomit each episode. I mean it won't ever work, but at least he's fighting the good fight.
THE IRON GIANT IS AMAZING !
pyrion's co worker was like that guy in my name is nobody with the urinal scene.
FYI Butcher is a great game if you like a challenging platformer.
"It was me" :D
It's funny to hear people who don't understand machine learning talk about machine learning.
If machine learning was that easy to implement into game AI, then it would have already been done.
The vagina adapter bit killed me
How do I send them questions? Is it just by comment?
The civ AI thing P-Flax is always talking about has some big problems. The main problem being the fact that after about a week, the AI will be too good to be beaten.
No, the real problem is that we don't actually know how to code an AI that could actually learn and improve at something as complex as Civ in any practical sense. AI is *really* hard, and a learning AI is even harder. Maybe in 50 years.
56:35 Beginning of bodega
You guys should try playing ICO, the predecessor to Shadow of the Colossus. It's an incredible game that really feels like a world that's been built for you to explore
Best way to survive bear attack = go into the fetal position and act like its child :)
I had to walk out during iron giant. That thing scared the shit out of me. Can't remember how old I was :P
On the subject of Discord, Amazon tried to buy it to fully integrate with Twitch but they declined because they want to make Discord the way they envision. So amazon bought Curse instead.
I think the reason way you black out is due to the large increase and then drop in blood pressure due to fear.
Last week tonight is a perfect example of well executed bias. I agree, they do make salient points, and they do it very well. However, they also omit a LARGE amount of details and evidence that in any ways clashes with their viewpoints, but they cover that all up with comedy and just enough resources to make it seem like the whole picture. People watch the show, are entertained, and because they want to keep the good spirit going, they don't bother to do any research or fact checking.
Classic episode
Lewis' character always looks very high.
lewis irl always looks very high
I made this accout so I can watch UA-cam
Tedefred I think it looks like a small Lebanese child
Wolfencreek tf?
A reference to earlier podcasts
Lewis triggered from P flax and sips saying "Isray-el" too close to an old enemy...
I love these podcast. I like to listen to them when I workout but fuck its hard to concentrate when youse are so funny. I'd like to meet the yogscast but I live in Australia.
Peaky Blinders as a great show on Netflix. Please check it out
it is so good
TheClassySeal i respect that
TheClassySeal y7
Pyrion hates anime, but likes the most anime Western animated movie...
Portal is in the Half-Life universe
who else thinks that a monopoly game would be cool for these guys, or some of the other member's of yogscast
omg pyrion Bodega uses twopeados, what a reference
"You're not Yoda!"
